  1. Its tough to get a feel for what Lamar actually spends on it because athletics is lumped into the "Auxiliary" line item on the financial statements with a lot of other departments. However, their budget breaks out all athletic revenue and expense items separately. You are probably correct saying they don't make what they spend back, because their budgeted athletic revenues for fiscal year 2022 (9/1/21 thru 8/31/22) are about $3.9 million, while their budgeted athletic expenses for that period are about $13.6 million.
  2. My coworker's husband is a local high school soccer coach and I have heard these same complaints coming from him. He said it takes almost the entire first half to get used to playing on turf.
  3. Yepp, both of my parents were West Orange class of 74. Dad had 4 younger siblings that graduated from WO throughout the rest of the 70s.
  4. Interesting. My only guess is maybe they want to make it their new Admin building if they’re looking to move from the one on Park. That Wells Fargo branch was nice on the inside from what I remember.
  5. Splitting the naming honors like that would make sense. Andre was one of my dad's favorite teammates (he was a sophomore my dad's senior year when they lost in the state semifinals).
  6. Just curious; why are they discussing that? My dad played for Coach Anderson and has never had anything negative to say about him.
  7. Can't wait to see what kind of spin is put on this.
  8. I can't believe that LCM would let a game get to this point. Truly embarrassing.
  9. Doesn't seem that way - I thought Hagler was a good replacement for Griff at the time. By the way, KOGT shows the final score being 26-1.
  10. At least this beating wasn't as bad as the one LCM took last night 🤷‍♂️
  11. The off-court stuff definitely doesn't sound great, but it is usually the assistant coach's job to keep track of player fouls and let the head coach know about foul trouble.
  12. A&M being favored by only 1.5 points tonight seems like free money with the way they've been playing.
  13. So going by this logic I am going to assume that you have won a state championship as a head football coach, because you seem to be an expert on what it takes to win a state championship based on all your posts on here.
  14. Every coach would go undefeated if they just listened to what we have to say on this board.
  15. NC State really got the short end of the stick. They were a #1 seed but had to play pretty much a true road game last night with the regional tournament taking place in Bridgeport, CT, which is less than an hour and a half from UCONN's campus. Seems like the women's tournament committee likes to play favorites.
  16. The answer is in the post you quoted. Actual Indians going to a school with an Indian mascot, and participating in their Indian traditions is ok. But white people doing those same things is not ok in their eyes, which is understandable to me (a white person).
  17. Yepp, anyone but Duke and Kansas please lol
  18. Refs have been awful in college basketball the last few years. They’re not just bad, they’re inconsistently bad, so teams aren’t able to get a feel for how the game will be called. But yeah those last two fouls on Holmgren were very bad calls.
  19. Gonzaga was in the bonus halfway through the second half, and in the double bonus not too long after that I believe.
  20. I think Bush would be a great fit. Any team would love to have his microwave scoring ability and no-fear attitude. I listened to an interview with Coach Holloway at St. Peter's this morning and he said the #1 key to getting the program to where it is today was to recruit local kids. I looks like there are 5 SETX kids on Lamar's roster, so I think Coach Brooks has it moving in the right direction. I know there isn't enough talent around here each year to fill out a 12 man roster, but a team made up of guys just from along the I-10 corridor from Houston to Baton Rouge would be pretty damn salty.
  21. Its already getting that way in the NFL with all the studies coming out saying that lower-body injuries (mostly knee) are a lot more common on the artificial surfaces. I know the Ravens switched from field turf to grass about 5 years ago.
  22. Has mismanagement of the pitching staff been a recurring theme since Davis took over? Or just the roster as a whole? I haven't been to a game since he got the head job so I genuinely don't know.
  23. Can’t get a read on LCM this year based on their scores, kinda all over the place.
  24. I remember watching Sauceda at Bobcat games with my older cousins that went to Orangefield…that guy was slippery as hell.
