Barber's Hill (24) vs Forney (6) - FINAL
Separation Scientist replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
You are right but if Forney was hoping to get the weather to help them beat BH it was a bad miscalculation. BH owned the weather last night. -

Yes the Forney players of course can shower and dry up but I was talking about their fans. I would presume a lot of them intended to drive home late after the game. It got over an hour even later and they were cold and wet. Probabaly a few got a hotel room for the night but even then they might not have had dry clothes and personal items. Tough trip for them. Again I hope thery all got home safe. -

What a game by the BH Eagles! The Defense was spectacular. Pitched a shut out until literally the last play of the game. BH offense could not score from the 1 in the first half but they did do enough to win. Converted some big 3rd downs along the way. Special teams were stellar. The biggest factor had to be Absek and the coaching staff. They had the boys READY to play and had an answer for every single thing Forney tried. Not only did BH soundly beat Forney but they rose to the challenge and totally conquered the weather. BH proved the critics and the computer wrong! Forney did not impress me much but I have to give respect to the Forney fans. They travelled pretty well all things considered and stayed until the end. It can't be fun to get soaking wet then have to drive 4 hours back home. I wish them well and hope they all had a safe drive home. -

You can get your hand stamped and sit in your car and come back in later. It might be 8-8:30 who knows. -

7:45 new kickoff time. You can get in but have to stay under stands due to lightening delay. -
Ask Crosby for sure. They have dozens and dozens of D-1 transfers coming in from every direction. Prieto must be an incredible talent magnet. In another year or two North Shore will be sucked completely dry.

Yes "smallest school", weather, etc. are all excuses. BH is barely over the cutoff too but if BH loses to Forney that won't be an excuse. -
If they do we'll take 'em out when they are the #4 seed the following year!

I think Newton will play in December for State. -
Anahuac vs Palestine Westwood

I said very much the same thing and some did not like it. This 3A district has been historically weak, and even going 10-0 locally don't mean a thing if you quickly evaporate in the playoffs. Everyone in TX ignores this district, its not percieved as any threat. Maybe this year the tide will begin to turn. I am supporting Anahuac and the rest. AP could make noise the next few years. Good Luck. -

Does anybody see a four beating a one anywhere?

LC should handle TC. Mag West over Ball is the most likely one. -
PAM will win. Chill, LOL.

Royal has picked up some Katy kids. I don't know the number or how good they are, but they have picked some up. Royal was 0-5, 1-4, 1-4 in their district the past three years, but 5-1 this year. It appears they made a difference. I think HF played much better opponents in WOS, Jasper, Silsbee. If HF takes it to them HF should win.

Few predicted BH to claim the #2 seed this year. Some predicted a 4th seed, or even had BH missing out. The team had a few ups and downs, but at the end you are what your record says you are, at least as far as your district is concerned. BH earned it. Now, the district is done and playoffs are a different animal. The Eagles must elevate their game even more because playoff opponents are going to be sucessivly tougher. By that I mean more efficiency across the board. Less penalties, less turnovers, fewer missed tackles, more consistant execution. In the playoffs "Be good or be gone" is theme. Good info about Forney has been shared by the Longview posters. As I look through their schedule they pretty much beat who they should, and lost to their top 2 district seeds. No real upsets happened either way. That tells me Forney is pretty predictable performance wise. BH has a bit more unpredictability, beating favored Crosby and KP but losing to LP. The game is at home for BH, and weather should be good. I do not see a significant advantage for either team. I think it comes down to execution and turnovers. On the surface this looks like a great matchup of 2-3 seeds that could go either way. I'll take our BH Eagles to win in a close game at home.

It always happens. Some districts are weak and quickly get exposed. Then there are a few upsets. I dont know the percent and it varies each year but typically 4's go away pretty quick. -

Having encountered FW on many occasions via baseball, softball, VB etc, they are an easy school to support. They have some of the nicest, classiest fans I have ever encountered. They do things right. I hope they find an outstanding coach to fill the shoes. FW always played football with great preparation and effort, and I am sure the right guy will be found to continue it. -

Weather was a non-isue. We had a few very brief minutes of rain but it did not affect the game.
