I may be in the minority but I don't care much who ultimately wins this. More important is getting good pre-district work in and avoiding more injuries. I would rather go 0-2 against real good teams than 2-0 against weaker ones.

Can you explain why he continues to rant about long gone Westerberg even now in August of 2022? Can you explain why he has attacked Coach Absek ever since the hire was announced? After Pearland blew out Wiley, I thought there was no way Tulsa could hang in there against Pearland in the Championship game but they sure did. My takeaway is Pearland has a high ceiling but a lower floor. Consistency is needed for them to have a good run at the LLWS. BTW Pearland is getting Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania LL out of the Mid Atlantic region, Thursday at 6pm on ESPN2.

Not a single word from anyone. BH has totally moved on from Westerberg. Can you understand it? Why would BH be dissatisfied with Absek anyway? He took a his first year team, knocked off a undefeated Top Ten team, then was within a single play of making the 3rd round. That is an immediate overachievement compared to his predecessor. I get it though, you have resented Absek since his arrival. You try to jab at him by spinning this Absek narrative up. I know the Beaumont guy here took unwarranted, ill informed shots at him too last year but that has cooled off. Why all the Absek hate? I think you are latently worried Absek will succeed more in the not so distant future as BH grows. If I was you, I would be more concerned your coach might soon leave Crosby in the rear view mirror. Your recruits might start to leave then, too.

I don't think Crosby's "chances" for winning the district was ever in question from anyone or any source. Pretty much a lock.

1) That's exactly why I count playoff wins. Even if you sweep this district it does not mean anything. Somebody has to win. Heck even valley teams sweep their district to sometimes, but its meaningless. You could be 10-0, ranked top 10 and then lose to a 3rd place Yoakum team in 2nd round. You were exposed. 2) I see one, where they won one single 3rd round game. With Beaumont skill kids. Once. In how many years? Or ever? Sorry didn't mean to hurt your feelings but this whole district is one of the weakest in the state. District wins don't mean anything. My friend from Tark readily admits it, It just needs to improve. Maybe in time it will. Maybe adding Orange field will help. Meanwhile go back to the original post and look at the current 3A-1 Top 10 and Top 25. Bye.

9-4A D2 is a really, really good district. 21-6A is awesomely good, maybe the best in the state 8-5A DI is average, top heavy and bottom weak. Crosby will go FAR (PAM needs to live up to potential) 9-5A DII is a bit above average 9-3A DI is good 10-4A DI is growing 12-3A DII Newton is the lone power, very well could win State. 10-3A DI is trash. One of the weakest in the state (its the midget district)

Thats right. No chance at all it goes back to anything but 4 teams per district. All coaches with average to slightly above average teams want to boast "Hey we made the playoffs xx times in a row!" That's exactly why an average of playoff WINS (not just appearances) per year is the best metric. Weak teams who lose in the 1st round are rightfully discounted. Only the number of playoff WINS count. I calculated 0.83 playoff wins per year for some random nameless team (I don't want to hurt sensitive feelings) in the other thread, for example.

I agree, four should not go out of a four team district. They could make it proportional. 2 could go out of a 4 or 5 team district, 3 go out of a 6-7 team district, and 4 go out of a 8-9 team district. In other words, 50% goes and 50% stays home. If you are not in the top half of your district you do not belong in the playoffs.

I think the history of an unbeaten teams (like 8-0-2 or 9-0-1) missing out was exceedingly rare, but I agree. I would not want to return to a "one team only" format. I think a happy medium is what we need. Two teams per district seems right.
