"those kids" looked better than the starters, if we're honest.  You're making an argument that doesn't really match what happened.  The assertion you're making is that this game was lopsided because HH played a lot of subs for a lot of the game.  HJ was up 30 on the starters early in the 2nd quarter.  Huffman starters couldn't do anything against the press or in the half court offense.  If anything, "those kids" came in and did a better job keeping things close.   You say that HJ isn't 40 points better than Huffman, but HJ could've won that game by 50-60 if they'd wanted to, regardless of which players Barrett chose to put on the floor.  I don't think HJ beats Huffman by 40 consistently, but they were MORE than 40 points better than them in Sour Lake this week.

That was really long. I like the commitment to argue with someone who isn't trying to argue. I'll try again (though I don't think it will work).

Yes "those kids" kept it closer than the starters and that in itself is a testament to just how off the starters were. Couple that with how "ON"  HJ started shooting it and you get the result from Tuesday. Huffman beat HJ by almost 30 at home last year. They weren't 30 points better. It happens. Teams have off nights. Like I said it will be closer when they play again.

Having said all of that HJ is a good team and will make some noise this year. I expect them to meet Silsbee at the regional tournament.

What’s not normal about the circumstances?? HJ shoots it well at home “ Always “. The secret for Huffman has always been to control the boards and the tempo. The Falcons win the match ups when they hold the score in the 40-50 point range. The 80+ games the Hawks always win!

It's not normal for them to be out of a game by the 2nd period. If the game was still within reach those kids never see the floor.

HJ is a little better than last year, and Huffman is not nearly as good as last year.  That said, they're still a pretty good team, and this was an unexpected result.  I had HJ winning by 10-15 points.  Huffman is now 14-9, but pretty much every loss but one has come to a quality team with a good record, and only two of those losses have been blowouts.  Still, this is a far cry from last year's 29-2 squad.  Speaking of last year's team, what happened to Harvey?  Is he playing somewhere in college?  I tried the google and couldn't find anything.

Yep he is playing  at Trinity in San Antonio.

  4. Huffman was off from the beginning. Barrett didn't play his starters for hardly for most of the 2nd quarter on. He subbed in kids all night that would never see the floor under normal circumstances. HJ is better. But they are not 40 points better. They could play that game 100 more times and HJ wouldn't shoot that high of a percentage again. Like I said HJ is better, but trust me it'll be closer when they play again.

Kinda crazy the way they determine district champs these days. You can’t compare full season win/loss records? You can’t look at head to head results to determine the champ? We just give it to both or everybody who has the same district record, a 3 way tie I could understand with losses amongst the 3 but with 2 teams… come on now. This was determined on the field but anyhow, congrats to both teams. Co-District Champions and much luck in the playoffs to all the local teams. Sorry not you Huffman, SETXsports takes 1, 2 and 3 this season.

LMAO....can you point on the doll where Huffman hurt you exactly? They're all kids repping their schools. Wish them all luck.

Heads and shoulders about everyone else????...Guess the sample size did not include Vidor going to lcm and beating the bears or that Vidor is avg. 28.5 (26.5 during district) pts a game and allowing 17.9 (13 during district).  Vidor has a bad offensive game against HH and all the sudden their a no body in district.

    3 Ints vs HH

    1 Int vs Liv.

    0 Ints vs lcm

    0 Ints. vs Splendora

Seems to me, Vidors secondary has been playing better...much better!!

It didn't. Like I said I've only seen the one game which is why I said that it would be hard to pick.

  7. I've only seen one game from each of the teams so it's an incredibly small sample size, but LCM seems to be heads and shoulders above everyone else in our district. Of course we were down tons of starters vs LCM and then we won against Vidor when they were down some key players so who knows but based on what I've watched Lumberton should beat Vidor (which means Vidor will probably win by 21).

This is pretty much the deal in District 9 seeding:

Kilgore/Lindale or Lindale Kilgore 1 & 2 (play next Friday) - Palestine -Chapel Hill & Mabank all should end 3-3.  I think Mabank will be the one left out.  Pal beat CH, but since 3 are tied, if they go points, Mabank will get third.  Way over my head.

    District 10 if Vidor wins:

    Vidor - LCM - Ltown - HH

    If Vidor loses:

    LCM - Ltown - HH - Vidor

If Vidor loses and HH loses wouldn't Vidor go to 3 and Livingston to 4?

Being honest, I just thing they’re playing better teams in Vidor and Lumberton. Huffman is small and not very good from watching the Lumberton game.

I really don't think y'all are appreciating exactly how injured Huffman is right now. If they get their kids back they will immediately go back to being one of the best teams in this district. Of course it won't matter in the standings but someone from that other district is gonna catch a loaded 4 seed for sure. Our team was so beat up against LCM and especially Lumberton that they switched to a 4 man front which they've never ran and it showed. They have two Freshman and two Sophomores starting in their front 7 on Defense. None of them were starters early on and two are only on Varsiry because of how beat up they are. Prior to the LCM game I stated in another thread we had 11 starters out with Injuries. Tonight it was closer to 14. Its hard to be good as a 4A team with that many Injuries. You just dont have the numbers to overcome it.
