I have been a small part, a very small part, of a group that provides hot meals to homeless men, women, and children near downtown Houston.  Mental illness and addiction are the obstacles that I have seen firsthand.  I do not know the answers.  I do know that they appreciate a hot meal, a word of encouragement, and a simple handshake or friendly hug.  Yes, there are some grifters/swindlers, but the majority that I have encountered are not hustlers.  They are stuck in a cycle and need some help.  What I have encountered has taught me about the seriousness of mental illness.  I had such a misunderstanding.

We at SETXSports.com have been toying with the idea of a weekly podcast for high school football. 
On Tuesday nights 6 to 7:30 PM. The show would feature interviews with coaches, a look back at games played the last week and previews and predictions on games later in the week. We will have our broadcasters available and we will even have time for texted questions.
We feel that this could be an enhanced version of our forums. We would need some sponsors to help us get it on the air, but we want to know what you all think and would it be something that you would support?

Nope, the QB is back.  It was a freshman back who was newcomer of the year, I think his name was Green.

Very doubtful he is more of a Baseball guy he is committed to UH for Baseball.

You raise a good point.  They will be on everyone’s radar after week 1.  I noticed all the real estate signs around Tyler county have been mysteriously disappearing. So if they don’t make it to state there may be lots of real estate for sale. I didn’t know there were so many athletic boosters with Corvettes in this county ,but they are washed up and looking good for the trips to Walmart. Don’t worry about Woodville we have nothing to see.

And 6 district championships and 1 state title doesn’t qualify someone as “been there and done it”? Sheesh, your qualification list for an AD must be tough. It takes a whole coaching staff to lead a team, not just a head coach.

There you go again. You start off with an accurate assessment of the problem, but then veer off into “but it’s not their fault. Slavery 150 years ago=poverty now.” It’s a lie. A big fat lie spread by apologists who prefer to ignore the real causes because it’s easier to blame others for our own misfortunes. I’ve never once accused anybody of being “lesser” than me…. Because in my heart I don’t believe that… God created us all as equals but what happens after that is our own doing.

Once again, you start off correctly, then swing off into “but it’s not really their fault.” Murder is murder, whether you’re wearing athletic gear shooting somebody over crack in the inner city or a wife shooting her cheating husband on the other side of town. They both pulled pulled the trigger and took a life. The problem is that the first scenario we’ll all focus on how the kid didn’t have a father in his life, lived in poverty, etc, etc…. Which has nothing to do with the actual crime committed. NOTHING. 
3.  That’s the funny part that you don’t understand.  I’m almost 50 and haven’t inherited anything… my parents are both still alive. My first grandmother died young pre ‘92 without a will so my mom/uncle had to give their inherited interest to the family home back to my grandfather. He later remarried a couple of times and eventually died before his last wife. But they both had wills despite only owning a house worth <$75k when they passed. My mom and uncle inherited and the house was sold.
On the other side my grandfather died first and his will left everything to my grandmother.  My grandmother’s will left everything to my dad, aunt, and uncle. It also was probated and the only real property (a single family dwelling) was deeded to the aunt who already lived there caring for my grandmother. There actually were some other assets in that estate, but they didn’t pass all of the way down to me. Other than my grandfather’s Model 12 Winchester or a few of the other one’s tools, I haven’t inherited anything from anybody. The fact is that even though they didn’t have much, their business was handled. Even funnier? Every one of them grew up dirt floor poor! If you live in America and are born poor and die poor, you’re just bad with money. That’s a fact. You make bad decisions. 
 

You can find the same things on Indian Reservations, Appalachia, and River Bottoms across the land. The difference is that we tell our kids that those people are eff-ups and you tell yours that it’s not black peoples’ fault… it’s racism. 

I commend you on your efforts....
 
people do make it out of what your talking about so if they can so can others.......like you said it comes down to “making good decisions”
do away with that “sense (feelings) of hopelessness” even if stumbling blocks come and be persistent in doing better no matter what comes one s way.
Family environment is usually a key to a child’s success no matter the poverty level or race.
adults have to act right as well as hold kids accountable 

Careful, some may say the same of you or me. Judge not lest ye be judged.

No, just looking at scores. Looks like they had had a nice win against Dekaney then just forgot how to play football. District looks pretty tough but I think they probably could have put 2 or 3 more wins together.
