He will probably go to Bridge City
That job is not open so I don’t want to comment on that. Got some buddies who are coaches and sometimes as fans we forget these guys have families too. I know they signed up for the job but still regular people like everyone else.

Pulling double duty as well being AD/ HC football and HC basketball.
If Buna doesn't go with Terrier you would think he'd be on their list

In all serious, it's amazing Prouse is still at Deweyville. Guy has been a winner at a tough place.

What’s laughable about the former Mustang football players on the coaching staff? You would think that they would be instrumental in keeping the Mustang football traditions alive, right? Are they being “silenced” by H and his coordinators?
I bet they’re a wealth of knowledge.

This thread went downhill quick.
I'll say this.
LC-M will have the tools next year for a DC and a deep play-off run. They are starting 10 sophomores right now. Undefeated JV group and a one loss Freshman group. The gym was packed last summer as it will be next summer.
Judging by the regular season, putting those tools to use was part of the struggles.
No doubt with will miss Morris/Amir/Bean/Fuller/Pollocks and several other seniors but they have left a positive mark on program that was the laughing stock of 10-4A 24 months ago.
I hear one of the potential QBs coming up could be similar to a certain WB player that was playing Jerry World in '18.
The future is beary bright in LC-M.
It should be an interesting game tomorrow night as the weather could definitely play a factor with the rain moving up to game time. Looks like high winds will also be an issue.
Fuller is a sophomore…gotta read the roster. But just like the previous senior LCM class, some key guys will be missed. Bears should be young next year but agree future should be bright with that many sophomores on varsity, the JV and freshman.

I think coaches just assume that there's an army of kids who grew up wanting to be qb1 because that's how it is in a lot places. Here those kids and their dads all want to be the ace on the Cardinals baseball team.
I hear you on that. Still think theres a lot of kids in BC that love football just as must, just discouraged by lack of success. Success breads success.

BTW wasn't BC pretty good under Stump in the spread? Playing mostly the same district...

You're not gonna beat Silsbee, WOS, and Jasper with a re-treaded shortstop.
The spread doesn't work when there isn't a passing threat. They just load the box and stuff the run. Ask me how I know? Because I've seen it over and over. Heck, it happened all year this year. I'm not saying that it can't be successful. I'm saying that it won't be successful here because we don't develop qbs. If we had a stud qb transfer, he wouldn't even have a backup that could move the ball. So what do we do? Hope the coach will get with the youth football guys, convince them to make sure that the best qb prospects start attending camps and getting private coaches so that they'll be the guy that we need in 4-6 years from now? C'mon.
I guarantee you that the second string qb on PNG's JV team is better than anybody we suited up to go under center this year. I'm of the opinion that the coach kinda believed that BC is similar to the place he came from... it's not.
That's what I'm trying to say, you have to develop those guys, just like every other position. You think that second string on PNGs JV just was born and better than anyone at BC? No. PNG has a QB every year because Faircloth had a system and developed those guys over years. I'm not saying the QB next year will be lighting it up (he did get hurt if I heard right) but you have to look at is he progessing each year and well as the guys behind him. BC isn't gonna get good overnight, it's going to take a few years to get better. You have to look at the progress or decline of the overall program. Is it getting better? Stay the course. Is it getting worse, make a change.

If you want to beat the teams in our District? Yes. You'd better have a gunslinger. We don't. Haven't. Won't in the foreseeable future.
So where does that leave us? With four or five WRs who can't catch and QB who can't throw. And a defense that's never lines up against a good offense until Friday nights. Sounds like a good recipe to me.
Just because you're in the spread doesn't mean you have to throw it around the yard. Watch teams like Lindale, it all starts up front. Hard to develop qb when he runs for his life every snap. BC usually has tough kids, get big, stay in the spread and run the ball consistently. Can't tell me there isn't a shortstop in BC that cant sprint out and throw a completion.

BISD will always come down to admin and community. Admin has to have things in place for coaches to be successful. No coordinators at 6a level are teaching actual class and in BISD they have them teaching like 5 periods of science a day. Put coaches in the halls to keep the schools under control, principals too, they have to get out of the principal offices. Community needs to support the coaches in place. Hard for a coach to build a culture when the kids leave field house and everyone around them puts down the coaches and everything they do.

We dropped down a classification and got smoked by every single team in the district.
It’s safe to say that we’re in a worse spot than we were two years ago. The system would work with better personnel, but we don’t have any D1 qb prospects in the stable… so we’re gonna suck in the spread. Adapt or die.
Do you really have to have a D1 quarterback to win in the spread? Or can you just grow good HS football players through a consistent program and keep the same coordinators for more than a year?

HF players to watch, 3, 4, and 9 WOS defense will have their hands full, and the ref's are always a problem when we play this team in their neck of the woods.
Officials are picked and agreed upon by coaches before the season? If anything WOS has the upper hand with officials because those guys want WOS coaches to pick them for playoff games

1-7 to State Regional finalist with one move in who's father was a coach. A healthy Landry and the Bears had a chance to play in Dallas.
To my knowledge there's only been two additions to the varsity roster who were not already on the team the prior year. One was approved locally and the other one was approved by the state. The one that required State approval was signed off by his previous head coach but the local group of coaches abstained from voting hence it had to go to state where it received a 5-0 approval.
I know you're kind of joking but you're kind of demeaning all the hard work these kids put in over the summer and the hundreds of hours of film study and work the coaches have done.
Please don't make unsubstantiated claims. Rumors are like buttholes, everyone has them but these kind stink like Taco Bell. There are a ton of people that lurk on here.
This dude has someone on the inside 😬 but I’m here for it!

Some people just can’t accept what a new culture and hard working kids can do. LCM isnt supposed to be good so they must be doing something wrong or cheating/recruiting. According to some folks.

Clown. Go sit on a flute and get out the sports forum.

WB will almost always go small school 6A and not have to play North Shore in playoffs.

He got out while the getting was good. Only had 2 years left to win a state championship before he was labeled a failure forever. Quick question: if he took a team that was 0-10 the year before he arrived and went 1-8 his first year, and then 21-13 the next four years, was he a success without a state championship? He also took a program with only 11 kids coming out his first year and had 50 come out to play last season.
Yes, he was a success. Coach Smith is a great guy and coach.

Well does Terrier take the late success and take the program over full time or do the Coogs open it up again
