THAT'S A FACT....He's still grinding that axe from the former Sup.

It's no secret it's by design to keep United Program down hiring

unproven coaches and keeping those old hands/coaches on board.

The plan is working shame on him and shame on former Ozen coach for having his hands in the mix on who he gets hired,

there's a special place for you guys. The current Sup. and board dont

care so nothing will change with the United Football program. Pray

Coach Green dont retire soon the axe will fall on the basketball program too. Yall can forget either Hancock brothers getting hired at United. If I get put in SETX jail for speaking my opinion so be it. This is just my opinion. Dropped the Mic.

Anyone who has worked in BISD would beg to differ.  United gets whatever they want when it comes to athletics.  Years ago WB had donors waiting to turf baseball field with private funds and the school said they could but if they did, the school would have to pay for United to get turf because they want everything the same.  In reality United is treated better than WB when it comes to athletics.  AD is a good dude, but a basketball dude.  BTW maybe it's not the coaches that are on board there, maybe the talent pool in Beaumont has gone down due to athletes leaving and going to Silsbee, HJ, HF, and PA because of the crap show that is BISD.  Having worked there and I loved my time and the kids that were there, I can tell admin is not given the tools for success from the top.  Another note is look how many former coaches and BISD players that are coaching at the schools I mentioned earlier and see how many kids from Beaumont have left.

Coaching pay in suburbs has got to be pretty good. Guys can make mid 80’s pretty quick with enough stipends. Can be hard to leave for assistant job in country for 15k cut not to mention if wife teaches. Subs pay mid 60’s rural not so much.

Starting pay at LIV is around 60k just for teaching. As the 59 corridor continues to grow (Splendora/Cleveland for example) assistant may not have to move very far just have to drive a little further. LIV hs is amazing newer campus and bout to build a new stadium. Year after year they have some of best looking kids in the district. If they don’t mess this up, could be a goldmine

LCM wasn’t the better team. Smalley only did that in response to Peevey BEING IN THE REFEREE HUDDLE. Smalley got told to get back across the field while Peevey continued to chirp. I don’t think you know or understand  the way the game of football should be played or the rules of the game. If so, you would realize this ref crew was a homer crew that allowed him to do whatever he wanted by awarding him a touchdown on a blown face mask call. I’m telling you, if he tried that with a neutral crew, he gets a penalty called on him.

Coaches agree before season on officials…and how is it not a neutral crew when the towns are 10 miles apart? LCM boys come off river bottom to officiate?

Lcm has a very strong run game as well , last game J’lynn morris had his first ever varsity start and averaged 11 yards per carry. If Vidor is able to stop their run game I think lcm should have no problem passing on them even tho they are a very average team when it comes to passing. Vidors secondary just isn’t that good. HF QB had 544 passing yards and 6 touchdowns on them.

He played in every game last year almost splitting carries and same as this year..kid has some wheels for sure

Pretty darn good is having 3 winning seasons in a row?  The last 2 6-5?  I mean, I guess.

When you said "they don't do much to develop their kids outside of 7 on 7", from my information that I've got from current/former players, the OC/QB does a multi month Quarterback school that he consulted w/ Todd Dodge on where the QBs start in a classroom and learn the whole offense as well as use LCM indoor to work mechanics and throwing.  Sounds like trying to develop something there....

Slot T beat Newton back to back years, can’t wait to see them try to run 5 wide against a Newton caliber team.

You must never have watched this guy call offense.  Even at WB he had a tight end on the field majority of the time and then at LCM played w/ 2 tight ends a lot and was run heavy.  Everyone thinks the spread is Air Raid.  In reality the base of it is spread triple option. Breaux has shown his offense is adaptable year to year based on his personnel.

He has a son that is a going to be a freshman and is a QB. OF already has starting QB that started as a freshman last year. If they bring him in you know he would want his kid to be the QB. That would not sit well with the community because the freshman starter is very well liked by the players and community. OF community is very tight knitted. That’s probably a big reason they shied away from him.

Or maybe this guy wasn't well known and Breaux has shown success locally and people know more about him than they got from a couple interviews.

This is probably the primary reason the chirpers above didn't feel like he was a good "fit". Might get in Little Johnny's way of being the first air raid QB in the history of the Orangefield program. Either way, I do not know Coach Breaux, and I wish him the best of luck. I just can't get over the fact that a coach with state championship experience applied for the Orangefield job and didn't get it. That's probably the darndest thing I've ever heard on this site! If they'd do a little research, the reasons he has had so many job changes are understandable and clearly worked to advance his career. His oldest is heading to Lamar and his younger son is about to be a freshman. Sounds like a pretty good shot for, at least, a 4-year term. If he delivers to Orangefield in those 4 years what he has delivered in Harmony in his 2 years there, I promise you the candidates for the job next time would be significantly better than the list they had for this opening. But, hey, we gon' run da spread!!

Doesn't Breaux have state game experience?

Going out on a limb here, but if the Harmony coach wants to come to Orangefield, they'd be insane not to give him the job. He has had a noted track record of success at each stop he has made and recently made a run to state. I cannot imagine there is another candidate on their list who is as credentialed as him.

Do you know who the finalist are? If not how can you say they haven't had success and been to state before?

Is that the only two offenses available to play in football anymore?  Slot T or Spread?

What about pistol, zone read RPO, power wing or power I, double Wing, run-n-shoot,  60/40 series, veer ?  Are those obsolete?

Always interested in how people define the "spread". If you look at modern "spread offenses" it's just a "spread version of triple option.

Worst kept secret in SETX as many have said before. He's been denying it all year, which I don't understand. If it was to "protect" the players, they already knew and it showed by their demeanor this year. He's going "home" and getting paid more so not sure the reason for "hiding" it or avoiding what everyone already knew. Hopefully he's not making the move just to "make his best 5 years" for retirement. Knowing his track record I doubt that would be the case.

No doubt.  Should've just got this done 2 years ago and avoided snowcones.

    I agree to a point.

PNG also has a history, culture, and quite a bit of talent.

PNG was no stranger to the 3rd and 4th round, they just needed to learn to play defense.   They went and found their answer.

OF has a long ways to go to be playing in Arlington.   They should be happy with the leader they’ve had.   Hiring a man to come in and take them from the 1st round, to the 3rd or 4th round would take a miracle.

Not that it shouldn’t be the goal, just don’t let the goal be the expectation.

I agree with that. Goals are different than expectations. Good point.

No doubt Orangefield has tough, hard working kids.   And that’s a start to developing a program.    Most years, Orangefield lacks size, and speed.   Hard to win at an unrealistic level without that combination.

The Orangefield 4x100 record was broken last year.   Does anyone know how long the old record stood?   I was born in 1978, and it was set before I was born.   Orangefield lacks speed.

Orangefield kids are disciplined as well.  Despite their lack of athleticism, Smalley, and others have had success because of the work ethic, toughness, and discipline.   Not because they out athlete anyone.

Being the biggest school in your district and entire classification helps too.  As long as the Bobcats stay 3A-D1 they will be ok with Smalley, and most anyone else.

But even then, they have a ceiling.

I remember people saying PNG had a ceiling and wouldn't be able to beat teams like FBM but here they are in Dallas again.  Not saying OF is PNG, just saying it's all about the standard thats instilled in the team and community.

  14. Let’s stop the “Orangefield don’t have those type of kids” when every year we watch state championship games and some teams look like Orangefield.
Orangefield has tough, decently athletic kids most years and should be disciplined. Also maybe you hire a guy that is great hire, doesn’t want to coach at a big school, and wants to raise his family in a great community. Even it means not getting paid as much.

Great points from all regarding the money. Agree that we have best overall facilities although concrete seating could be upgraded. Having said that, best athletes and best facilities deserve the very best coach. Since money appears to not be an issue then open up the wallet and get the best coach we can get.

Idk them concrete bleachers been man makers and developing speed for about 40 years now.  May not wanna get rid of em.
