  1. Winning is a part of it, but it's certainly not all of it. Go back to your example Ranger, Lumberton's fans were non existent for years. Many kids didn't go out because of the coach. LCM has been up and down over the years and doing a lot better this year after a coaching change. HF is not doing well at all and that definitely starts with the coach and administration. WOS, obviously they've been doing it right for a long time also, they have a good fan support for a small school and a very popular coach.
  2. The fan base starts with the Coach and the support he gets from the Superintendent. PNG and Nederland have been doing it right for a long time. Lumberton is doing 1000 times better now with coach Credeur than with the previous coach Fuller. They also changed superintendents. The Beaumont schools don't seem to have a big fan support. When you consider the enrollment numbers, Lumberton is around 1000 and Central is 1500 and there's really no comparison in the crowd. Vidor seems to be doing well with their fan support and no doubt Mathews is well liked.
  3. It will be a very physical and defensive game at the start, but as the game progresses, PNG will dominate on offense especially in the passing game. In the 2nd half, PNG will pull away with the win. Expect to see Vidor try an on-side kick or two point conversion to keep the game within one score or swing the momentum. In the end, the clock will run out on Vidor and Cinderella will be looking for her slipper.
  4. The race tightens after Friday night, L-town is hungry for a win.
  5. Go dawgs. Be prepared, I heard the jags talk a lot of trash on the field. Hit'em in the mouth.
  6. A mistake made by one team is a gift for the opposing team. You say mistake, I said gift, what's the difference. I think we're both saying the same thing.
  7. Black Pearl, thank you for responding, that reminds me. Gifts are nice. Too bad Vidor didn't capitalize on last year's gift and they stayed home during the playoffs. I wonder if that happens this year? Chances are good that it does. But Vidor is a giving bunch, they returned the "gift" when they went for two in OT against Central this year. Some say Vidor would give you the shirt tail off their back. If you want to know how a real, excuse me, a great two point conversion play, check out the one Lumberton ran against Dayton and won 8-7. You're right Soulja, that's funny...... ;D ;D ;D ;D I'll bet Coach Parker liked that one!!
  8. Agreed Vidor has a good ground game, but having only one dimension will haunt you especially if you get behind by more than one score in the 4th quarter.
  9. I didn't stutter
  10. Lumberton wins this game easily. That's my opinion based on what I've seen. No more gifts from Lumberton.
  11. The score may be somewhat close maybe by a shirt-tail, but this week Vidor starts realizing the limits of their one dimensional offense. And PNG's defense will have more stops than Vidor's D. PNG wins this one. That's my opinion.
  12. With the stiff competition in 20-4A, everyone gets and needs a little luck. That doesn't imply Central is not a good team by any stretch. My prediction could change quickly after this week's schedule.
  13. I think with the remaining games, Vidor probably comes out the big loser in some close games. The other close games may put Livingston out and Vidor in. The top teams will have to watch out for Ozen, Nederland, and LCM as spoilers. I'm obviously picking Lumberton to win out which is the higher probability IMO and the Lum/PNG game being almost a toss up at this point. Here is my prediction: Current Final 1. Cen 3-0 ===> 7-0 2. PNG 3-0 ===> 5-2 2. Lum 1-2 ===> 5-2 4. Liv 1-2 ===> 4-3 (Liv wins tie break w/Vidor) 5. Vidor 2-1 ===> 4-3 6. Ned 1-2 8. Ozen 8. LCM Key remaining games Cen 0 losses PNG 2 losses Lum 0 losses Vidor 2 losses Liv 1 losses Ned 3 losses PNG @ Cen = Central ***but close PNG @ Lum = Lumberton ***but close Vidor @ PNG = PNG Vidor @ Ned = Vidor Liv @ Vidor = Livingston ***but close Cen @ Ned = Central Cen @ Liv = Central ***but close Ned @ Lum = Lumberton Ned @ Liv = Livingston
  14. Soulja: I think this thread is history, we got to eat the loss, you need to savor the win.
  15. Good post slick. Like an earlier poster said, it's time for Lumberton to eat the losses and move on. We can't look back at the missed opportunities when there's plenty in front of us. The finish in 20-4A will be no different than it has the last 2 years when several teams tied for 1st at the end. L-town will make the playoffs and we have the chemistry to go deep barring no major injuries.
  16. I'm sorry if I rubbed someone the wrong way. I did not mean to bash any coaches for the way they dress. They all have the right to dress as they please. And I know that no matter how they look, that's their right and we should all be sensitive to coaches appearance. After all, we live in a civilized society. Now back on topic, PNG beats Vidor by 3 TDs. 57-33 ;D ;D ;D
  17. The rule is aimed at the boat horns inside the gym at basketball games. FYI, TCU also uses a train horn at their college games.
  18. I don't think it's sour grapes. I think Vidor loses to PNG BIG. Eventually, I think it will come down to the Vidor/Livingston game to determine the 4th playoff spot.
  19. Good game Jaguars. You took care of business tonight and beat my Raiders. Tough game for Lumberton.
  20. Lumberton Sophmores to watch are LB Clay Choate, WR/DB Lance Pace, WR/DB Jordan Granato, TE/DL Dillon Mouton, and RB/LB Travis Kelly.
  21. IMO, generally no, unless it's very controlled. They have plenty of opportunities to get hit in the game. You don't want your 1st string QB going into a game with sore passing arm or a bummed up leg. The first time that happens in practice, you'll change your mind.
  22. Back on topic, Lumberton is coming to Central with a renewed vengence. Count on it. The Raiders are well coached, have great discipline, balanced offense, receivers and D-backs have great speed and hands, and a good defense. Don't under estimate these Raiders, that would be a mistake. Last year at this time, Lumberton was 4-1. Only loss of last year's regular season was to our Orange County neighbors. Central has L-town's respect and this will be a great game.
  23. Good game Vidor. No excuses from this Raider fan. You did what you needed to do and congrats to you. Big games ahead for all.
  24. Should be a good game, I predict Livingston wins 42-27. This will be the first of at least three losses for PNG in district play.
