1. Thats right and McNeese or an other Southland team would love to be in Lamar's position.  And speaking of McNeese, did anyone else hear about the Lake Charles paper referring to Beaumont as that "hick town down the road"? Or something to that effect.
2. Hope he does well on the recruiting side, he seems to have the motivation side down "Pat".
3. Maybe Lamar will offer a dual role in Basketball and Head Football coach  ;D
4. Look, this is now under a microscope and it doesn't need to be.  I have my opinion on QB like everyone else.  Whatever the coaches decide, I hope it works out for the Cards.  Time will tell.
5. I think he earned that chance, but so far he hasn't been given the chance.  He pulled the QB position out of the toilet last year, maybe they'll give him a chance to do it this year.  If he doesn't, find someone that can.  It's that simple.  He earned it.
6. Lazeek:  Reading the blogs and hearing the people talk, it's pretty simple why Lamar fans are losing faith. You have a QB that did great last year and got everyone excited for this year.  He made great decisions. great throws, and no turnovers.  What do we get to start this season?  A different starting QB who makes poor decisions and a bunch of new thugs and criminals we're supposed to root for and support.  Story after story about some of the kids getting the shaft and some good ones quitting.  We get an artificial win the first week and a wake up call the second.  With everything else I mentioned, that's why you're hearing "I told you so" and "Prewitt got screwed" and the whole thread on the thugs.  Are you really surprised???
7. The waterboys a cheata, cut his freaking head off
8. Lamar had a chance to get a quality QB and blew it.  Their best QB is the one that finished last year.
9. Successful coaches will do what they need to do to win.  Who cares if other teams whine about technicalities or so called "improprieties".  Thats the oldest show in town.  I know several 20-4A teams that would love to trade places and have the recognition for winning and having the state titles Coach Hooks has won.  As a coach, as a person, hats off to you Coach Hooks.
10. The way Coach Hooks handled the team after Reggie's passing and continued the season was a real credit to the coaching profession.  You could write a book about it.  He gets my vote.
11. Whoa, ok a little sensitive are we.  I have nothing but respect for Coach Hooks.  He's a proven winner and everyone knows that.  Of course high school coaches can't actually recruit because of the school district boundries.
12. I meant it as a compliment.  Is there some history that makes my comment bashing the coach?  I thought Hooks was great in mentoring the WOS students and bringing out the best in the community - recruiting, leadership.  Now can you explain your problem, if you want to do it offline - I'd just like to know.
13. Admin note:  I guess you didn't get the hint when I deleted this slanderous comment the first time around.  Warning for violation of rules regarding bashing of coaches.

15. What ever happened to the Harrison Tatum, is he injured? He looks fine and healthy on the sidelines.
16. I believe the signings you saw were from offers made before the football season.  Right now, this period of time is a "quiet" time for recruiters and teams are not supposed to be contacting players unless they are "evaluating".  After Nov 28, you will see a flurry of activity.  I may be mistaken though.
17. We had a great time at the Lamar game last night.  It was a little cooler than I like, but it made for some great football weather if you came prepared.  I hope the South East Texas fans will continue to support the team, the crowd was a little thin last night and could have been due to the weather.  Prewitt and the recieving corps was outstanding.  He had great poise and made good decisions.  The recievers just made great catches all night.  I don't who else noticed, but on Lamar's last kickoff to SD, the ball was not fielded as it went into the endzone.  The refs inadvertantly blew their whistles.  The ball eventually bounced and barely went out of the endzone.  But it was a live ball bouncing around in the end zone for quite a while after the refs blew their whistles.  I saw a few looks from Lamar players at the refs and I think they realized they were too quick with their whistles.
18.
Hay i don't want to get in on Politics of Nederland but i will say this. Crosby didn't turn Merka loose because of how yall played us. If your going to question play calling i'd question your coaches defensive strategy against the cougars, and the lack of major talent at the DE position. Consistently the cougars sealed the edge and could hold 7-8 blocks with 6 people, that gave jackacy a major advantage with one on one situations with cornerbacks and safeties and he made the dogs pay. 2 things, they stopped using the wilddog with 3 minutes in the second.then again after the 2nd drive (failed drive) in the 3rd quarter. the coaching staff recognized they needed way more help, and to be fair this score indicated a much closer game than this one PHYSICALLY was. You look at how many times crosby blocking made a bad snap into a 3-7 yard gain and you can easily see that. My prognosis is the Dogs focused way too much on Merka and didn't trust their defense to stop the cougs which led to the dropping of the wildog to be fair look back at this game yall did throw SOME out of the wildog and they were almost all incomplete/tipped at line or a negative play.  Dunno i've seen one game,  but speed kills and crosby had a lot more tonight.
So are you saying Nederland over coached rather than got out coached?  Going back to vigil's comments (I agree) you had a 4-6 team beating a 5-5 team.  Playoffs? Don't talk to me about playoffs!
19. I don't dislike the wilddog.  If you have a healthy QB, I like the wilddog when it's used sparingly.  That's what makes it so effective.  But with your starting QB hurt, I thought Ned should have stayed with it all night and let Trev pass more out of that formation.  He did an awesome job running all night and I think he should have passed more when they bunched up on the line.  Running the dog could have controlled the clock a lot better and made the difference.  I was surprised they didn't get Salenga more involved.  Carson got some good experience and he'll be ready next year. I think Neuman had a better option last night with the wilddog.
20. I'm saying Crosby had 5 fumbles and Ned only recovered 1.  Crosby dominated on the ground and always seemed to catch Ned off guard with the pass, especially on the long TD.  Ned couldn't pass and everyone knew that going into the game.  I'm not a big fan of the wild dawg, but it was a better option than letting an inexperienced QB pass.  Ned had over 5 yards per carry, they should have taken that all night.  Trev also passed pretty good.  Carson's last 4 or 5 passes were incomplete.  If Ned did a better job controlling the ball in the 4th qtr, they would have kept Crosby out the endzone.  They would have done that if Neuman stuck with the run.  This is a game Ned could have definitely won.  Crosby did what they had to do in keeping Ned off balance and keeping the turnovers down.  Crosby also had more penalties.  Too bad Dionte couldn't go at QB, the outcome would have been different.  But for what they had, they were still definitely outcoached.  I don't care what you say and I guess it doesn't matter now.
So this is what it's come to in Nederland.  A losing season is considered successful.
Grabing a playoff spot and hung tough in the game...  To me, making the playoffss is an accomplishment...
If Central had gone 5-6 this season and lost in the first round of the playoffs to a team with a losing record, would you say Central had a successful season?  I didn't think so.  My point is that 5-6 IS considered successful for Nederland now.
Probably would have been.  Central have spoiled us fans by going deep in the playoffs for the last few years.  So yes, it may be a dissapointment as far as if you are talking about Central... But Nederland, through all the injuries and other things that they have had to deal with this year, making the playoffs was an accomplishment...
Right and anything can happen once you make the playoffs.  I just hated to see Nederland blow it like they did.
