I was a Freshman the year that the infamous 3-0  game at the "Alamo"  ( which by the way for those who may not know was won by the Blue&Silver ) I literally felt exhausted when the game ended as did alot of fans from both side cause we all were so into the games  it generated such an electric type atmosphere that just drained the mind, body and soul. 
As a player I personally had the fortune and misfortune of playing in a couple of those clashes during those early years of our new found rivalry. 

Sadly, the days of 3-0 games are long gone.
I miss them.

Here we go.  Release the hounds time.

This game is pretty much predetermined.  I don't think it will be an easy game for either but Newton should win handily.  What excites me is the fact that this district has been looked down on by our neighbors to the north year after year with Newton being the only team that they took seriously.  This year may be different with Newton, Hemphill, and New Waverly.  We all could go past the first round with Newton having a chance to win it all!!!!!!   

As an HF fan, I’m happy with the direction the program is going.  Waggoner seems to be getting the most out of this team the last few seasons.  8-4 last year, with two of those loses being by 1 point to Silsbee and to Carthage in the playoffs, and 4-2 this year with 1-score losses to two really good teams.  HF is pretty unlucky to be in a district with Jasper, Silsbee, AND WOS.  That’s how a team who’s good enough to finish 2nd in most district ends up 4th, and out in the 1st round of the playoffs 

I’m sure a big forehead like the rest of the Mannings.😂

We love the guy. He wasn't gonna fix the offense overnight. My concern is that the defense hasn't been as good as we need it to be to beat good teams. I think we'll get better as the season progresses. 

The past really doesn't matter in situations like this. We've got to be a lot better than we have been lately to win this game.

Coach Hickman isn't being given a fair shake by most of you. WOS has a rich tradition and the community seems to be against this man after 5 games. WOS will get 2nd in district. You can't win em all folks. People show their true character when things are bad. Good luck the rest of the year. 

To the Children of Newton and Jasper don’t let these grownups put hatred and immaturity into y’all’s hearts. It’s about Football and about pride but mostly for the love of the game. Over the years I’ve watched our towns grow and watch how you kids have became cool and support each other even practice with each other to make each other better. That’s what it’s all about at the end of the day neither team will ever compete against each other in a game that matters other than pride. So you young men continue to be great and best of luck to both of y’all on your season journey.

Jasper had lots of speed. QB can throw the ball. Wide outs are fast. Jasper run sweeps early and made big yardage. They Abandoned the end runs probably because they did not need to work on that part of their game. It is a scrimmage to point out your weaknesses. 
Jasper will be just fine. Good luck to our neighbors to the west. 

yep, they played for state title last year. lost to Amite 16-7. they won state title 2 years ago.
Tackett Curtis is one of the top linebackers in his class. Committed to USC. It come down to USC, Wisconsin or Ohio State were his final 3. 

Louisiana has 5 classes in football. Their 2A would be more equal to our 3A.
They are ranked no. 1 in class 2A. 

As far as the Liberty Hill game mentioned, that was also one of my top 5 games.  LH had a 3-headed monster running attack.  It was very impressive.  Jasper had speed all over the field, but the slot-t of Liberty Hill was ran to near perfection.

Most are aware of the great game that took place a week after this one.
This one ( Semi final) was equally, if not more thrilling than State Title Gane.
The DAWGS jumped out early to 21-0 lead but by the end of game found themselves having to make a goal line stand on last play of game to win it. LH couldn't have beat us but with a 2 pt conversion if they had got td would have tied it. The way the 4th quarter had been going, overtime most likely would not have been good for Jasper. Final score 35-27.
BTW,  LH won State the next two seasons.

Thought 3 teams started making the playoffs in the 90s.........at least from the article I read recently.. 
 
And I still say the Jasper QB wasn't out of bounds (IYKYK)....that game is still on YouTube btw. 

Personally, I became a HUGE fan of 3 teams making playoffs when it started in 2004.  
In 2004 we lost to Kirbyville, then lost to Silsbee in last District game of the year. We were 3rd in District.
We lost to Gilmer 49-47 in State Title Game. 😢 

I'd rather 10 teams w/losing records make the playoffs than one unbeaten team miss the playoffs...and I'd definitely prefer to not see games decided on penetrations on God forbid first downs...but thats just me

who would they treat as Gypsies then? we are their role play team. Lmao not long ago they "role played" us right on into Region II.  Second round playoff game had us traveling to Athens. 😲
