    To AAW!
I'm sure these last couple days have been tough for you, but I think I speak for all of us when I say thank you for keeping the game threads and pick ems going, amongst all the other things that none of us are even aware that y’all do to keep this going. Todd would be proud 🙏🏻

I would love to see Todd's WOS logo prominently displayed on the sites banner, centered, to the right of the SETXSports logo in the upper left.

Sincerest prayers for him and his family. Dear God, please receive him into your Eternal Home. Please give his family the strength to endure this most difficult time. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.

I don’t believe in playing give me games. Playing 0-10 teams does not make a good football team. We will get beat in the first round if it’s east Texas. WOS is a good team that we need to play, and I could careless about the rivalry that’s always been Bridge City to us LCM players and fans. You don’t runaway from challenges you face them.

You may be right about not knowing. But I’ll say one thing, from the parents I know of kids playing it seems like Peevey has them believing in themselves at least for now. And that’s a big change from years past!

It went about like I figured it would. Offense ahead of the D at this point. "Blown coverages" means the secondary "needs work" just fyi. 🤣

I like seeing the quick passes in space and letting our athletes be athletes. The new QB has a quick release with accuracy which is vital for those type of plays to work and has been missing the last few yrs. Downfield passing will have to get better, but I believe that will come. If we can spread the ball around like that we'll be hard to deal with.

Not that worried about the defense. The PNG offense is pretty dynamic and is a tough assignment for a young D. You know they'll be where they need to be when it matters. T and Pierce will get the pieces in place.

Thought it was a good dress rehearsal for both.

WO-S quarterback position is just the opposite for the first time in probably close to 10 years. I don’t think even the coaches have a 100% clear idea who it will be.

I have a co-worker who’s son attends LCM and is going into the 10th grade next fall. He plays baseball and played football in jr high but not his freshman year. He said Peevey had a meeting with all parents of anyone in athletics and told them he had an open door policy but if the topic of why thier kid wasn’t playing enough or playing a different position then the conversation would be over. He Said the coach stated very throughly he would not tolerate that at all.  We shall see. I hope the best for them, but it’s gonna take a culture change from the parents to make it happen.

Ladybug's way of thinking will be the end of Mustang football....  It's all about putting the best team/coaching on the field.  When you start skipping over qualifications to select based on skin color, sexual orientation, gender, etc,.... you lose something.

According to Ladybug, the Lakers would be better if they started two white guys, Lebron, an Asian, a Gay Mexican, and had a female coach.... because our diversity is our strength.  Dumbest thing I've ever heard.
If somebody was to say "they need to hire a white dude at Beaumont United... they've only had black up until now... it's OUR time" they'd be branded as a racist... and that would be a correct assessment.

And let's be sure to make clear, Coach Thompson has made no indication that this is his last year of football.
Rumors of his imminent retirement have been circulating for at least 5 years now and I guess will continue to do so until he does actually does retire.
As for me, I hope those rumors have to circulate quite a while longer.

I don't know that a black coach would be on any shorter of a hook than a coach of any other skin color.  Sure there would be some who would want to ride him out of town.  But then again, there is a contingent of the greater Orange community that wants to do that to the current head coach despite the fact that in his 10 years as head coach (along with a very instrumental role in the era of his successor), he has led the Mustangs to 2 state championships, to the finals 2 more times and has advanced 4 rounds deep in the playoffs in every season of his tenure except 1. All of that plus raising the football team's winning percentage from .786 to .806 during his tenure (#1 in the state among schools that have played at least 500 games).  Yes, some of those who want him gone occupy this board......deny it as they will.
Some wish to call that "complacency".....not messing with a good thing.  And despite the claims of some, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs' football team is a good thing.
In topics here about other coaches and change, there has been a lot of talk about culture.  When I see a post on here on here that the primary consideration for the next head coach, whenever that change might become necessary, should be skin color, it makes me wonder if the posts I made in those topics about the current culture at WO-S are accurate and if the current football culture in my old home town has changed.....and not for the better.
If after an extensive search (something I do agree with) the best candidate to succeed Cornel Thompson, whenever that may occur, and to maintain or improve the tradition of winning at West Orange-Stark is an African-American, I will gladly welcome it as I expect other Mustang fans and alum will.  In fact, whoever it is will have my full support as that person's success will greatly affect my mood on Friday nights between Labor Day and Christmas.  However, if it appears that successor is put in place merely to satisfy some sense of social justice.......than yeah, I expect many will show their displeasure at the first sign of any misstep by the Mustangs.
After all, the West Orange-Stark Mustang football team is exactly that, a football team.
Much to dismay of plenty, some on this board, some in the superintendent's office, the Mustangs are not a social experiment.
