UIL State Championship Games Thread

Thanks Buddy. TWC in SETX has royally screwed us fans! Is there one person in this area that wants to see the Hornets? Ever? Why not Spurs or Mavs? They need to hook us up with the Comcast Sports channel. -
UIL State Championship Games Thread

GTown O-Line is the smallest I've seen during these Championship broadcasts. -
To be fair to Brown, Thomas and Renfro at WOS had more opportunities to make a play on the ball because Thomas had Renfro and Renfro had Thomas. If you threw the ball against WOS you had to pick on one or the other. Dove you are right on about the camps and recruiting. Kids can wow a coach in camp and gets an offer then becomes a bigtime recruit because of it and garners All State attention because of the recruitment not the stats. Remember Dravanti Johnson. Great Junior season, poor Senior season where he made second team All District by the locals who actually saw him and was named 4A Defensive POY by AP?? Why? Because he was a UT recruit!

3A DII Champ. Game-Navasota vs. Gilmer!

That Collins kid can fly and #68 was a man amongst boys. Is he only a Junior? Rattlers defense was best I've seen at any level in a while. Fast,Fast,Fast and swarming! Congrats to the Rattlers, the real "Greatest Show On Turf" ;) -
3 out of 4 State 4A teams dropped from 5a

Couldn't scout in that scenario for bi-district round. -
Does PN-G's single game attendance record fall today?

We can just squash all of this by making a double dip State Title run between Nederland in DI and PNG in DII with back to backs at Jerryworld! :) -

Announcers were wrong. Aledo won 3 state titles not long after moving up from 3A to 4A and they beat Lamarque for one while Lamarque had 3A numbers. Southlake won 4 outta 5 titles begining the year after they moved up from 4A to 5A. Case can be made both ways. -
Whoa, hold your horses for LU to the SBC.

Not sure the WAC will be around next year! -

I would suspect with Katy playing followed by local Allen you will see in excess of 50K. -
3 out of 4 State 4A teams dropped from 5a

Only 2 of the 4 were 5A last year. GTown and Guyer. Cedar Park and Lancaster have been 4A. Cedar Park probably would have won a couple 4A State Titles had it not been for Lake Travis the past 4 years. -
Harrison Tatum started for 3 years. 2 years with Hemmings in backfield then the last with Wright (which was MB's last season).
-
Why would Permian hire him? Because he was an integral part in turning that Program back into a 5A power back 5-7 years ago. When he and Allman left they went to crap and those folks trust him, just as I trust he will help our kids win again.

I beg to differ Smitty. This past season was bad we will all agree, but his second season the team went three deep and gave a huge Manvel team all they could handle. Third year we lost on the toe of a once in a lifetime kicker. His playoff record is 3-3 (not bad). Also he has had good coaches on staff that have helped to mold solid programs at the Middle Schools, which I think we are starting to see payoff now at the JV and Freshman levels and most of us expect to see on the Varsity level beginning next season.

Doty was only a 2 year starter. He started Faircloths first two seasons, then Miller and Smith for a year each. Tatum was a 3 year starter as was Long.

Yep. Head downtown to eat at Rendevous for the best BBQ on this planet! -
Awesome Talent and to finish #2 in his class and graduate early is tremendous.
Morse is 5' 10" and runs a 5.3 40. Not nearly mobile enough in PNG's offfense. He will be fine when he is a senior. Walker will contribute on defense. That's why Faircloth is playing him both ways.
I'm 5'10" and a few days ago when I saw Adam Morse he was several inches taller than me! Brennan Doty was outstanding in PNGs offense and he ran a 5+ 40! Have you seen Morse in a game?

Congrats to all. Carranco must not have had as many opportunities this year. If he ain't the best 4A kicker in Texas I'd be shocked. Now for those that don't think that the AP voters are North Texas biased (primarily DFW and Tyler/Longview areas)> Area 1st Team 2nd Team Total Houston/GT 2 5 7 Austin 2 4 6 San Antonio 1 1 2 North Texas 8 12 20 The Greater Austin area had 4 of the final 8 teams vying for a 4A State Title, but only 2 1st teamers?? -
permian is not the school it once was.i doubt faircloth would apply for the job.
It pains me to say it and I'll probably get alot of heat from those that wear the purple tinted glasses, but the same could be said about PNG! Faircloth and Allman prooved a few years back that Permian still has the athletes and resources to compete for a 5A State Title with the right coaches. As someone with some ties to the Odessa area I can tell you that with the two 5A schools in Odessa, given the right coaching staff, Permian can and will get the top athletes from both for football. You are talking about the top football players from a combined enrollment of 5500-6000 students all at one school. Could westbrook compete for a state title each year with a good staff and getting the football talent from around Beaumont...Yes.
-
I'm with you JohnnyArm. Walker prooved his worth as a DB last year and can play wildcat QB and WR. Morse has big time potential. It wouldn't make sense to have him sit for two years when Walker can help you at several other positions.
This guy was quite a player when he was at Central...I wish him the best of luck...very athletic d-lineman
Yes he was. The JUCO route has worked for other area standouts as well. The Runningback from PA that went JUCO then starred at K-State. I can think of many a 6'3" or 6'4" 210-220 pound DE in HS with great skills that could have gone JUCO and gained 30-40 pounds of muscle and gotten valuable playing experience and become a viable 6'4" 250 lb DI DE. -
Langston will be a Soph.
Corrected. Is that Chuck Langstons son?

Yes, for those that recall, Faircloth left for PNG in late January early February that year. Then Allman (the Permian Head Coach) left unexpectedly in March for Westlake. The Permian folks were peeved because had they known Allman was leaving they would have retained Faircloth. Faircloths 2-8 record this year would have an impact on most positions, but probably not at Permian. I hope he stays, but wouldn't be suprised if he at least applied. It is a premier job in HS football nationwide. Of course Allman left for Westlake and a huge paycheck and he graduated from Permian, so I'm not sure what they pay. I would have thought that they would have tried to match Westlakes $125K per year (which was at the time the top in texas) to keep Allman since he had helped re-build that program back into a power. He won a state title his first year at Westlake and just lost in the semis last week this year, while Permian has dropped back, so Permian probably should have ponied up!
