From what I saw not near as fast as JJ or as quick, but strong, powerful runner for sure.
 3. Daniel Woodson and Joe Lynch from WOS. Run like a deer and hit like a tractor.  ;)
 4. Maybe the coaches should do this as well lol.

And Navasoto 's team this year doesn't have near the firepower that team had. Deon Bealsey at QB - University of Texas Starting cornerback, now in the cfl Earl Thomas at wideout and cornerback. University of Texas starting safety 1st round draft pick and pro bowler. Jacoby Franks at wideout Texas Tech starting wideout two years. Ladarious White at wideout UofH signee. That's just the superstar names from that team they had 7 other guys who were either sophomores or juniors on that team that play college ball. Navasota doesn't have one ki that can touch those 4 kids I named
Wimberley was better than WO-S...hands down.  Naming players who got college scholarships from WO-S doesn't change the fact.  Wimberley was equally as good of a running team as they were a passing team.  We decided to put more defensive emphasis on stopping their passing game, and in response they did the smart thing.  They used their offensive line and tailback to bulldoze us.  That was an impressive OL.  We could not stop them.  At least two of their O-lineman signed scholarships, one to UT.  The Giddings game in '06 was one we should have won.  It's one of those occassional moments where the better team lost.  Play selection had MUCH to do with losing that one.  In the Gilmer game, I thought that was the best game our former OC called in all of his time at WO-S.  Play selection included a time-consuming drive to start the game, and aggressive calls the rest of the way.  The strategy was right for that one.  We had two dropped TD passes, and one slightly overthrown one.  Three potential TDs.  We had zero room for error in order to win that one.  Gilmer was better than us.  I'm looking forward to a solid performance by our boys this Friday.  I know they're focussed.  Let's go beat the spots off those leopards.
I was working at WOS in '05. WOS had all those skill people, unfortunately they didn't have the line to go with them. Wimberley's line dominated that game. That and the fact WOS couldn't tackle their TB. The other factor in that game that wasn't mentioned, 4 turnovers by the 'Stangs resulted in 24 pts.! Two scooop and scores, a pick 6 and field goal off of another. Wimberley wins by...24. Coach T told me after the game that they could've till Christmas and still not tackled #32. When you get to the 3rd round and beyond it's not all about talent. Usually both teams will have talent. In the playoffs, turnovers decide most games and sometime the ball doesn't bounce your way.
Our downfall in a lot of seasons past has been the size of our linemen. They always have heart and speed, but we do have problems with a team with large linemen. Turnovers and penalties will kill you. WOS has been pretty good protecting the ball this year but we have got to stop those penalties.
 6. Thanks Raidergirl from a Stang fan. Honestly, I agree that Newton probably has the BEST shot. Stangs aren't going down this week. Good luck Dogs, Stangs, Eagles, Community Christian, Silsbee, and everyone else from our area if I missed any.

Nederland is rumored to be trying to bring Hooks out of retirement and he will drag Thompson from WOS with him. At least that is what I heard...........
And Jerry Jones is buying the Stangs and bringing Jimmy Johnson back...... ;D ;D
YES on Jimmy. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on Jerry. While it is brought up in a round about way..CONGRATS to Cornel Thompson, he has done a wonderful job at WOS.

The secondary just didn't show up. I wish y'all luck this week and hope to see you guys in quarter Finals.
Your right about that, not just the secondary either. We will correct it, seems like we have one game like that every year (most teams do). That is what I mean when you start to believe in your press clippings and the hype the kids hear from fans and classmates. Every game is a war and you have to approach each and every game not only with 112% intensity but with 112% focus as well. This year we were good enough to overcome it unlike in some past years. Good luck and stay injury free to the Rattlers also.
Why couldnt ya have had that game against Silsbee and played all out against WC  ;D Just kidding Tear em up WOS
We KNEW we had to bring our A game against Silsbee...no excuses either..WC played great and that contributed to some of our problems also.

 10. If we get past Lorena (which is gonna be a great, tough game) and Navasota gets past LaMarque (sorry, I think LaMarque has something for them) Watched a little bit of video of Navasota and Coldspring looking at the Navasota Offense. You really can't accurately judge a team by a small patch of film but here is my impressions and someone can correct me if I am offbase. Quarterback is very good, very good arm and moves well in the pocket. Would remind you of Beasley with a better and more accurate arm, but more of a scrambler as he is looking to get the pass off. They seem to throw a lot of bubble screens and outs to draw defense in then go deep sidelines. Very good timing on the outs, you would almost have to play bump and run on them. Seems like their running game is an offshoot of their passing attack (much like ours during the Beasley years), didn't really see anything that stood out there. Did see a lot of missed tackles by Coldspring that game. Coldspring seemed like they got some pressure on the QB from the outside, I would love to have it up the middle and see how he does. For a team to beat them your A) gonna have to play cover 2 and put a lot of heat on the QB or B) you better have a very talented secondary and be able to put a lot of heat on the QB. I really would have to wonder how they would do on a muddy, extremely windy, or wet field. I think this would be one game I would want to play off of turf (that's not gonna happen). Yes, their offense can be disrupted if your good enough to do certain things. IMO they would get some points on WOS but not like they are used to. IT would come down to whether or not the Mustang Offense can put points up (I think they can). It would be a great game for sure.
 11.

1998 State Semifinals lost to La Marque 26-13. They beat WOS, Carthage, and El Campo on the way. There were some very good Tiger teams who only went one or two rounds deep.
That was not the state semifinals when Silsbee lost to LaMarque in '98. That was the Region III finals. Silsbee has made it to the state semifinals just once, '77 when they lost to a Donnie Little led Dickinson team in the Astrodome, 12-0. Silsbee fumbled inside the Dickinson 5 yard line twice. Little returned a punt for 75 yards for a TD. Dickinson went on next week to defeat Brownwood 48-20 in state championship game.
Hoping the Tigers can change that this year.
 12. Go eagles, mustang fans are rooting for you.
 13. IMO Silsbee is better than Jasper this year. Don't judge the Tigers by what Jasper did. Should be a shootout I agree. Tigers have the firepower on offense to run with anyone in the state. The question will be can their defense make enough stops. I say they live to play another day, Silsbee by 10.
 14.
Those CBs and SS's don't look so D1 to me they are horrible.
I sincerely hope you and the coaches think that way. Please believe that your the New England Patriots and we are the Lamar Cardinals (sorry Lamar). Please keep believing you can't be beat or even played close. Keep believing that state championship already has NAVASOTA on the plaque. Keep believing all you have to do to win a game is to show up. I WANT you to believe what your saying. Please make sure your players and coaches feel the same way. That is all.
 15. Deweyville had a great season and those kids have a lot of heart. they did something that had not been done in a long time up there. Congrats on a fine season. I never take relish on a high school team losing, even when it is my team that beat them. Each team in the playoffs have seniors that may have played their last game. That is nothing to celebrate.
 16. I think LaMarque may have a little say about Navasota first. I think WOS had our wake up call, much like SC..I don't think Navasota has had theirs yet.
 17. Sc 3:16 says they just got beat. Better luck next year...love ya or hate ya..they were fun to watch for awhile.
 18.
Talk to a mustang and he said this was the worse defensive performance they have had all season.  Be told me it would be fixed and Lorena would be in trouble come friday. In his words "we are pissed and what we did on the field isn't acceptable, there will be no mistakes made against Lorena intend on sending a message" I cant wait till Friday
I bet I know which player it was...he is a true leader if who I am thinking of.
 19. Got a feeling this topic is going to get quite interesting before next Friday
 20. Great run Pirates, would have loved to see you win..but history setting season..Good luck EF.

 22.
WOS should win this game, but Lorena will not give up. Good sportsmanship over there in Lorena.
I agree, it won't be a blowout. Should be a competitive game that WOS should pull out.
 23.

Does anyone REALLY believe Navasota will lose to LaMarque. Is it more LaMarque must play great and get lucky or Navasota must have the worst game of their year or both?
I honestly think LaMarque will. I don't care how talented you are as a team..you just don't blow through the playoffs and not have a close game. There will be a game where you come out flat (much like WOS did last night). From here on out if you come out flat your gonna get beat. Hopefully, WOS learned a lesson last night (plus West Columbia played their hearts out). If you come out flat against either LaMarque or WOS, you will get beat. I just think Navasota is due a bad game and never underestimate a team with the championship heritage that LaMarque has. I will say one thing, this region champion will win state, whoever it is.
Have you seen Navasota play this year? And, this year haS nothing to do with "HERITAGE".
You don't even get my point..not denying Navasota is a great team..but even great teams lose. Especially when a team BELIEVES they can beat you. LaMarque's heritage makes them BELIEVE they can beat you. Lots of the most talented teams NEVER win state championships. When you keep thinking your unbeatable you usually fall pretty hard. A passing team looks great on paper and in most games, but what about a bad weather game? Qb's don't go through an entire season being on target. There is a lot more things that can go wrong with a passing team than a running team. If you beat LaMarque I think I can safely say that should WOS get there we will be the most athletic and fastest team you have seen all year. IF you beat us both, I'll say congrats and win the state champ to you.
