Vidor got embarassed any they're still pissed. It had to be very disheartening to know exactly what SC was going to do an not be able to stop it. Our offense is as complete as it gets. Now if U want to pick at our defense, you may have more luck. Having said that, SC's defense is the best Vidor has seen this year. All those forced turnovers and go back and look at the game [Hidden Content] and you'll see a very physical defense that laid down some vicious hits.
So, what happens when the "Greatest Show on Turf" faces a complete defense? You keep picking on Nederland, but who would you say is the best D you have faced? I promise Nederland has a better defense than ANY you have faced. Here's a few stats since you are a numbers guy: 1. Vidor had the most yards all season on Ned with 311. They scored 13 points and their last TD came with 1 minute left. How many yards and points did they have against y'all? 2. Ned defense has allowed only 87 yards per game passing And has 17 INT. I bring this up since you feel that your Bulldogs would burn Neds 2ndary all game long. Doubtful. 3. Angleton is the only team all season to score more than 21 on Ned. They scored 39 and were aided by 5 Ned turnovers. The only other 2 teams to score more than 14 BOTH scored on the last play of the game against 2nd string D. Those teams were GCM and LCM. 4. Y'all gave up nearly 500 yards to Crosby. Ned held them to 159 and 7 points. 5. You asked earlier if Neds defense is similar to Vidor. Nederland is much bigger on the D Line and has a much better secondary in my opinion. I hope this game happens down the road. Lots of work to be done for both teams to make it happen. I have no doubts that the SC offense would be by far the best offense Ned has faced, but I will promise SC has yet to face a defense as Ned. Good luck this weekend vs. a very solid Georgetown team. Are y'all good? Yes. Are y'all great? I'm not ready to say yes to that YET. I don't know how good Ned truly is or how far they will go, but I can assure you they aren't near as bad as many of you are thinking!
I agree with your number 5...Sc-Ned would be a great game for sure. Until then, I am going with SC to win this week.

Newton beat Daingerfield 21-0 in '98 at Homer Bryce Stadium.
Newton was 3A that year...right
yup!
DII 3A    5th smallest 3A school in the state that year. Still took down the monsters, except West Orange Stark. I think that score was 7 to 6. Not for sure.
I was at that Newton-WOS game it WAS a heckuva game. Newton wins to play another week.

WOS has an outstanding defense, THE BEST in 3a. Will West Columbia even score?  ;) ;) ;)
I wouldnt say the best defense in 3a....
and who would you say is the rest of the top 5 in order?
 4.
I stole this from another board, but it represents my sentiments regarding some of the comments made here toward Skip. This guy said it better than I could have... "No matter how good you are, or think you are, you can never take winning for granted. Witness tonight - Baylor, the first team with a losing record at the time of the game to take out a #1 teams in NCAA history. The same Baylor that we all know has NO DEFENSE. Stanford holds Oregon to only 14 points and wins in overtime 17-14. This is the Oregon that has dominated the west coast teams and put up a lot of points all year. My real message to the Navasota's, Stephenville's, West Orange Stark's, Carthage's, LaMarque's and all the other teams still in the playoffs---A true champion plays every down of every game like they are the underdog. It is alright to be confident if you back it up with the way you play. Being cocky is believing that you can't be beat. There are a lot of teams that have players with special skills, but only a few that get the most out of every player on the team. Practice with pride, play with pride, but win or lose with class." ...and to add to it... We as WOS fans have witnessed our own "Baylor vs K-States": 1990 #1 WO-S (10-0) loses to CE King (4-6) in the first round 1998 #1 WO-S (10-0) loses to Silsbee (6-4) in the first round. A team we had shut out earlier in the season. Everybody has their own opinions, but respect should never be confused with a lack of confidence... Those who think it is don't really understand one or the other... JMO
Amen and +1

We should beat West Columbia if we play to our capabilities...our run defense is great..the kids will do alright. As far as Chris Smith, yes I also heard he will be eligible to play this week. These kids are all business I don't think they will overlook anyone this year. Go Stangs. Saying right here, right now...Navasota won't be in the region final IMO.
His name is Chris James and its not a definate if he will be able to play in this game either.
Sorry senior moment..went back to my old classmate Mr. Smith..lol..sorry hadn't thought about him in years..good guy. I stand corrected, thanks
 6. Tigers win..Tigers win..
 7. Got to go with Lamarque...I personally think they will be in the region finals..17-7 Lamarque.

 12. Great game Stangs..one step down..5 to go. Not set in stone yet but looks like next Friday at 6 in Channelview. Good season Cleveland, wishing their seniors the best of luck in their future.
 13. Vidor, ya'll are a great team..sorry it ended so early..SC is gonna make some noise in these playoffs if it is any consolation to ya'll..one thing for sure...Vidor won't fade into in the depths of the district as long as Mathews is there.
 14. Wow, didn't realize it would be their FIRST playoff victory..Go Pirates...rooting for you guys!
 15. Would love to say Deweyville because I know and have coached a lot of their younger kids..but Newton is on of the best teams in the state. Just don't think many teams including the Pirates could stay with them.
 16. Vidor will have to ball control and keep that Sc offense off the field (which they are very good at doing by the way)...while their defense may not be the fastest..they ARE very quick reacting. One thing I do know..if Sc takes Vidor lightly they will get beat. Vidor is an outstanding, well-coached team. Vidor may have to play their best game of the year to earn the victory. On th Sc side, you can't have turnovers for sure. A turnover free game from Sc may make it difficult for Vidor to win. GO PIRATES!
 17. JMO, but I don't think Navasota makes it past LaMarque.
 18. Great and well written article..Vidor's pass rush has to be great in this game also.
 19.
Silsbee or Huffman will route Yates! I'm thinking Silsbee over Huffman, Yates, and Carthage.
I agree about Silsbee beating Huffman and Yates/Sterling..not so sure about Carthage. They beatup on Jasper pretty good. That would be one heckuva game.
 20. God bless her and the family...in my prayers for sure.

Where's Kirbyville? ;)
It's 15 miles North of Buna.... :D :D :D ;)
love it..lol..made me laugh, thanks. ;D ;D ;D ;D (had to do one more smiley than you)
 22. One fact about Deweyville, the Pirates have not won a district championship since 1983. Babin has done tremendous job. I agree that Coach Spears at Community Christian should be mentioned as well. Building a powerhouse in the second year of a school is a great accomplishment. Neuman and Mathews are great coaches also and have done great work this season. If you get excited about about Neumann winning back-to-back undefeated district titles, then you have to be excited about WOS's Cornel Thompson. LC-M's Randy Crouch had a very young team that looked absolutely terrible against WOS in the opening game and almost took them to the playoffs.
 23.

WOS will undoubtedly win, but it will be a very physical game.  Cleveland is very physical and does not give up.  They do talk some noise also.
One thing that WOS won't do is fall into a noise talking trap or fall for the "get in their head" routine. We never have and NEVER will as long as Cornel is the coach. He will not stand for that. His number 1 rule , above all others, is discipline. Trust me, I know. He will pull anyone and I mean ANYONE, no matter how important to the team, if they fall for that. People might be able to say negative things about the Mustangs, but lack of discipline or trash play is not tolerated.....period. The one thing that scares me ,however, is the people who have said that Cleveland will try to hurt you when you are beating them. It is hearsay ,but if that is the truth, that is classless.
I can assure you Cleveland does not play dirty, Coach Maple will not tolerate it either. Different people have opinions and that's fine, but these boys made the play offs also and we are very proud of them. WOS played Cleveland last year, I don't remember any DIRTY playing going on. It was a pretty good game until the two WOS players ran into each other, after that long break WOS put the pedal down. We know WOS has the team and we are the underdog big time, but Cleveland has a pretty dang good defense and we will see Friday night. our offense needs to do something???? We will need to put points on the board and this is where we have struggled. I'm just a fan these days, my son is a junior this year but has been out all season with a torn ACL over the summer. My point is i have been with most of the varsity players since they were 7 and 8 in little league, alot were at my house last night watching the Texans and talking about this game. Hurting players has never been discussed or would it be tolerated. They do play hard and they will not give up, we as Cleveland fans are looking for a good game. I pray GOD keeps all of the boys playing Friday night safe and injury free. Good luck to both teams
Hope your son gets better, I know how it is to have a child out who wants to play so badly.
Yeah your right but LCM's rb Seizer was better and silsbee's O still scored enough to win, not including it was way earlier in the season and silsbee D is better then they were then  ;)
Seizer is completely different from Gray. You will have to stop him on the the ground, through the air, and in the return game. He can beat you in a alot of different ways.
Obvious, you have not seen Sezer play then..he does all those things as well. Expect a dogfight in this one won by the cats. I'd day 12-14 points with a late Silsbee TD.
