I remeber in 2000 we had a supposedly "amemic" offense and we rode that defense to the 4A state finals. By the way, are you the same crackhead that said Navasota would put 45 on WOS? In a big game I'll take the better defense every time and that would be WOS. I also didn't say the 'Stang offense would put up 28 pts. I said they would score 28 pts as a team. That doesn't have to all come via the offense. That ballhawking defense is good for a pick 6 or a scoop and score and we are also good at returning kicks and punts for TDs, too. So, let's say WOS got a scoop and score and a pick 6 and kick retuned for TD, which has happened this year, all the offense has muster is one score. I gave y'all credit when I gave you 21 pts. That's more than anyone's scored on them this year. If y'all insist on throwing those bubble screens and WR screens, I can assure a couple of those are going the other way for scores.
If your are referring to me, I am not going to stoop to your ignorance with the name calling... Crackhead?  How mature...  Anyway, did you see somewhere where I predicted such a score?  If so, show me... WOS gets by Lorena by scoring 28 points and by a very average West Columbia by scoring 20 points.  Some of you are very, very delusional.  Navasota ain't even in the same category as Lorena or West Columbia.  Some of you will be in for a real RUDE awakening!
I wouldn't call either Lorena or Columbia average, they were better than average..Now they are not in the same class as Navasota and that is a fact. I'll give you that.
We have lots of other ways scoring than regular offense. I would be very surprised if that anemic offense you speak doesn't put up at least 2-3 scores. We are better than you think. Certainly better overall than anyone else you have played this year.
Obviously there are more ways to score...But, WOS will not score 28 points, PERIOD! And, we will see if WOS is as good as they think.
NAVASOTA will not score 28 points, PERIOD! And, we will see if NAVASOTA is as good as they think.  ;)
Fair enough... Can't wait until Friday... I'm getting tired of all the smack talking, lol.
Don't like smack talking myself. IT would be quite interesting if the fans played this game lol..good thing the players are.
 3. I totally agree that it is a shame (no disrespect to the others still left) that this isn't a state championship game. I think the game would have been worthy of being on the big stage in Dallas. I think this is more a reflection of how good he thinks Navasota is then looking ahead.

 6.
After watching all the highlight videos I could find on Navasota and seeing WOS play in person, I think it will come down to whether or not the WOS can control the clock and finish off drives. I think Navasota is going to see more team speed on defense than they have all year. WOS will have somebody on those bubble screens I saw and the WOS DL can flat out go. I do know Navasota better get to the Mustangs early because there is no one better than Coach T at making halftime adjustments and shutting a team down in the 2nd half. I think WOS gets at least 1 score from their defense and just enough offense to win. I say: WOS      - 28 Navasota- 21
I agree, keep that offense off the field. Pretty confident we can stop the run on D, that is why we scrimmaged Vidor and Nederland (big teams up front). They are going to get some passing yards and scores. Navasota is too good to think we will shut them down totally. We have to limit them. If we have the lead at halftime, I like our chances, if we are down by two scores or more we are in trouble. I think we need the defense to set us up at least twice with a short field at some point in the game. One weapon not many have discussed is the Navasota kicker, don't know much about him but a 48 yard FG is nothing to sneeze at. He could be the difference. The score you predict is one I agree with but i'll go 26-24 Stangs.
 7. Go Dogs!

I can only surmise that he was trying to stamp in his players minds how important this game is. IMO, I think it probably is the two most talented teams. However, whichever wins, is going to have a hard time getting mentally prepared for the following week.
I dont disagree with you, but if they win this game and have a prob getting ready for a State Semifinal game the next week something is wrong IMO.
Especially in Navasota's case..getting up mentally and physically for three straight tough challenges..i realize it is the state semi's but at 100%? Will be hard to do. Even the Mustangs after their game of the year (should we win), I think it would be hard to get up emotionally after a game like that no matter what. Guess what I am trying not so well to say is this will be an emotional, leave it all on the field type of game. Hopefully the winner will have something left in their tank.
 11.
They don't play the whole game very often.  Someone was talking about all we want to do is run up the score.  Most games backups have been in by the middle of the 3rd quarter.  They do have a few that play both ways.  I don't think conditioning is going to be an issue.  It better not be at this stage in the year.
Murphy, your a standup and honest guy. I appreciate the response. Should the Rattlers win (not that they will lol) I'd be rooting for you guys to go all the way.

Why don't you take your jealous butt somewhere else then.
What am I jealous of? WOS is a great program and produce a lot of great players but my only knock on their program is that they can't compete with the big dogs in 3A I'm definitely not jealous gotta lot of good friends from WOS but I'm just stating the facts
SO, Ozen are chokers because they have loads of talent but can't play with the big dogs in 4A? I can understand being at Ozen that you have no idea how hard it is to get a a state football championship. Stangs are no more chokers than Ozen is. We have one of the best programs in the state and not many teams can say that they have made it to the big game 4 times with a school who only has a 32 year old history. It's a hard thing to do to carry on a tradition like we have. Special teams only come along so many times, there are not many Southlake Carroll's, LaMarque's, and Katy's who have done better. Look at Odessa Permian, how long since they dominated like they did. I submit to you it is easier in basketball when you have only 5 to 8 players who have to contribute than it is in football when you have to have so many kids who have to contribute so much. Not saying it is easy in basketball because it is not, ya'll guys know how hard it is. Stangs may win or lose, but about 200 or more high schools in the state would love to be in our shoes.
 14.

I think the more these Nav fans talk the more pressure they put on their teams shoulders. They already have enough pressure going into this game.  Carrying the #1 ranking and trying to hold on to it is a lot. WO-S has absolutely nothing to lose and no pressure, they will be well prepared. I don't care who beat who by how many points on what night with whatever moon phase was happening, and who's friends with whos uncles cousins brothers mothers first husbands sister-in-law. This comes down to execution on offense, defense and special teams. I very much believe in the old saying.....Defense wins championships Defense will proves itself Friday night....
WOS has tons to lose...  Afterall, the entire state knowS about WOS's defense and the comparision that some you are making...  Act as if you don't think that WOS has anything to lose, we all know better than that.. Imagine this, Navasota beats WOS and that great defense... All those shutouts gone out the window because they lost to Navasota... THE PRESSURE IS ON!
Good job trying to deflect..but sorry, we are HUGE underdogs here. Everyone on your side even says so. The shutouts were for pride, nothing else. Pressure is squarely on the unbeatable, a team that should beat us by at least 40 points, number 1 ranked team in the state, with a offense like the Houston Gamblers of old and a defense that would remind you of eleven combinations of tanks and lightening bolts. I will give Navasota props they have played two tough teams back-to-back. It's hard to maintain mental excellance for three weeks in a row. If they can they deserve to be in the storied annuals of Texas high school football. One thing people may be overlooking is conditioning. How much has the Navasota starters played the entire year when they were blowing people out? WOS players are used to going both ways for almost the entire game. Maybe Rattler fans can tell us how many times these boys played the full 48.
 15.
I will be the first Navasota fan to admit WOS has a nasty defense.  Playmakers all over the field.  Navasota is going to have to play its best game to win.  If WOS is going to win they are going to have to play their best also.  If Navasota executes and doesn't turn the ball over they will win.  If WOS creates turnover and turns them into points for the offense they will win.  I am just hoping for a good game.  I don't think we have to worry about WOS players acting like thugs as LaMarque did.  I think Hooks would put an end to that crap first.  Should be the best 3A game of the year.  Either way both teams have had a great year.  It is fun to talk a little smack to each other, but in the end we have no control of the game.  Good luck WOS and air up them basketballs (just joking).  Travel safe and be loud.
Good post Murphy, +1 from me..either team will represent the region very, very well. We have some basket balls you can borrow  ;)
 16.
Maxpreps is not actual just like y'all's QB's arm I just watched film on him.
I'm gonna call you on that one. It is a totally uncalled for post. NO need to criticize kids on any way here. I think Salter might surprise you. Shame you on, who are you a two year old? AS far as the tweets back and forth show me the facts. WOS athletes were told no social media this week. Seems like all you do on here is try to stir crap up sir (using that team loosely). Support yout team but leave the childish insults somewhere else.
 17. answer is no in their classification.
 18.
I don't think so every 10 passes that's throw will be a touchdown for Navasota.
if you truly believe that your delusional and Navasota should be playing in the NFL.
 19.
Don't get me wrong, I hope WOS wins, but I don't see it. Just hope there will be grief counselors on hand after the game for some of these WOS fans. You have alot to live for. It will be ok when Navasota spanks you. Just keep talking about the past. I hope that helps.
Unlike some teams fans, WOS has some class, if we lose we'll say the better team won. We won't need grief counselors, we'll just look forward to another district championship and another deep playoff run next year. Seems to me like you been picking against us for awhile. Being the superstitous type please keep believing that. There is a reason they say defense win championships not offense. So sorry your team isn't playing anymore. It will be a close game and decided by turnovers probably.
 20.
I have not seen WOS this year, but Navasota is very good on both sides of the ball.  They will definitely be the best team by far that WOS has seen this year.  I am not sure that WOS is that much better than either Coldspring or LaMarque, and I have watched Navasota completely disassemble those two teams.  I think WOS versus Coldspring or WOS versus LaMarque would have been a better matchup and WOS would have had a great chance of winning.  I don't think they are the better team this week.  Navasota could have a bad game, drop some passes, fumble the ball, and WOS come out with a win.  I just think that WOS will have to play at the top of their game and get some lucky breaks to win this week.  It is High School Football, who knows.  Navasota could get shut out, and WOS could score 50.  I don't think this will happen, but you never know. Should be a great game, can't wait to watch these two go at it on friday, and finally get to see the WOS defense that I have heard so much about this year.  I have not seen anything yet that will change my prediction from the beginning of the season.  Navasota wins and goes on to win a state championship.
The only thing I really disagree is IMO Stangs are much better than CS or LM this year. This is NOT the same team that lost to CS last year I assure you. We are better in all phases of the game. Are we same level as Navasota, that's why we play the game. They will be the best team we have seen and we are the best that they have seen. The key will be WOS offense against the Rattlers D. Stangs D will hold them down (no not close to a shutout), depends if WOS can put up around 28 any way possible. If we can we'll win.
 21.
Enjoy the rest of your season Carthage fan. I think the Rice Birds will have your hands full in Beaumont next week. I'm going to the WOS vs Navasota game and site with the Stangs
We appreciate the support. Have a safe trip.
 22.
I've read alot on comparing defense and offense of both teams but the bottom line to me at least is both of these teams are pretty close talent wise which boils down to execution.  Whoever executes wins this game.  WO-S cannot afford the luxury of drive stopping penalties and win this game as they have some games in the past.  And dont make the mistake of downplaying the WO-S offense, these guys can get it done they just haven't really had to, but it is there.  Also is there anyone out there been around long enough to maybe compare Navasota offense to say the Ennis offense of 2000?  Just asking.
I think the Ennis Qb was not near as quick and probably not as good of an arm. That was a game in which they were basically shut down after halftime but the damage had already been done. We almost come back to win that game. Receiver wise I think Navasota is probably bigger and faster. I would think the line play would favor Ennis (they were huge up front if I remember correctly). Overall, I think Navasota is much more explosive than Ennis back then.
 23. Donald Duck is on QUACK. So Navasota only scored 31 against poor LaMarque because the coach let them when they have been scoring in the 40-50 range against everyone else..Doubtful. Did the Navasota coaches feel sorry enough for LaMarque to LET them score 20. Doubtful. Will Navasota score as many as they want to against us hapless Mustangs..NO WAY. If you want to bring the Jasper game into this equation, we didn't HAVE to beat Jasper or West Columbia by 30 or 40 points, we only had to BEAT them. We don't have to run an offense to put up 40 points a game. However, that doesn't mean that we can't. We prefer ball control. We will move the ball, we will score. Why do you think that we moved away from an offense like you run? Certainly not because we lacked speed or skills to run it. It usually catches up to you in the playoffs because most teams have to run the ball sooner or later or have a bad weather game. Go ahead and think you have it made, it may be hard to swallow anything with a crow jammed down your beak.
 24.
I like how all the WOS fans jump on a Navasota fan for predicting them to score over 40 points and turn around predict Navasota to score 10 - 14 points.  In my opinion that prediction is just as crazy as the Navasota's fans.  Before you tell me that Navasota hasn't seen a defense like WOS's, it works both ways and WOS hasn't seen a offense like Navasota's.  Should be a great game, but Navasota isn't scoring less than 24 points in this one.
You gotta give Navasota their due, they are an excellent team. We will have to play our best game to defeat them and vice versa. I'd be shocked if both teams don't score in the 20's.
 25.
Congrats WOS on the win(from a Rattler fan).  We all get the matchup we have been waiting for.  I have heard a lot about your defense, but don't sleep on ours.  They are pretty stout themselves.
One thing for sure, this game will bring out the best in both sides. It should be a war.
