Outside of BC, sounds like the district is pretty even. I know WOS JV has won their past five. I know still have BC, Sils, Buna, and I think OF left to play.
-
Just wondering if anyone knew the JV standings..yeah I know I shouldn't care but my kids play JV..so kinda vested here. I'd appreciate it if anyone knew them.

Last year coaching PONY ball an opposing coach accused me of stealing signs and took offense. What was happening was one of our players was noticing the pitcher was tipping pitches. As I told the coach of the other team, if a 15 year old boy is stealing your signs you need to change signs. Teach the kids two sets of signs, come on coach, not that hard a thing to do. I DID tell the coach that his pitcher was tipping and he needed to correct it. I have no problems with fans doing it as well as long as they aren't in centerfield with binoculars. It is up to the pitcher, catcher, and coach to correct the problem.

When will WOS lose another district game?
Txdragon replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee should be considered the district favorite because of the kids WOS graduated. Keep in mind this WOS team offensively will be much different with more of a vertical passing game than in the past. This soon to be junior class when running this offense (with Rutledge at QB) averaged 40+ plus in junior high and freshman until Rutledge was called up to JV his freshman year. That was also without two key transfers, the James kid at Rb and the big lineman Hryhorchuk from LC-M. Should be a much more explosive WOS offense and probably not quite as good defense. However, still plenty of athletes for Coach T's system. The key will be how the inexperienced backups grow up and provide the depth. As far as WOS being up 14-0 on people and people thinking they played WOS tough, don't read too much into that..last year a 14-0 lead was the equivalent of a 28-0 in WOS minds because of the defense. The offense just took care of the ball. I would not be surprised to see WOS average 30-40 points a game this season. Silsbee is the only team i see in district capable of putting up 25+points on WOS, which is what I think someone in district would have to score to beat us. -

Kinda a shame to end up like it did.
2-0 LCM thru 6. Bears score 2 in the 4th on passed balls. And yes it was a good game until the last inning. Rake1
Thanks fore the correction, don't know why I put 6 on there lol..guess i was thinking 9 innings lol. -

WHO ARE SETX TOP 5 FOOTBALL COACHES?
Txdragon replied to understand's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't think a Cornel Thompson head coached WOS team has EVER gone just one round...not gonna take the time to fact check but what, 4 round deep his first season and 3 deep his second. That's pretty good. I will say one thing about Mathews in Vidor. Any coach that comes into a program with the rich losing tradition that they had and turned the program into one with a chance to have a winning tradition deserves to be mentioned as a top coach. I think the one thing most of these coaches have going for them is discipline. I can assure you that some of the BEST football players at WOS probably never made the field.

1. Larry Neumann--Nederland 2. WT Johnston--Newton 3. Bryan Barbay--Coldspring 4. Kenny Harrison--PA Memorial 5. Jeff Mathews--Vidor
IMO Cornel Thompson and Kenny Harrison are about equal. They're good, but with the talent they have on those teams, they should be going deeper then one round in the playoffs. ie. PAM
Harrison Year 1- 1 round Harrison Year 2- 3 rounds Harrison Year 3- 5 Rounds Harrison Year 4- 1 round Talent has always been there before Harrison became HC, the coaching was the problem above his level.
This is so true no one says Nick Saban can't coach and he has had 4 of the top recruiting classes in the llast 5 years. You still have to coach the kids up. The talent has always been at PAM but it was never coached up.
-

I'd pick Coach Thompson over Coach Harrison. Cornel may not have been the Head Coach for two state championships, but we would not have won them without him. Nor would we have the success rate over the years. -
CENTRAL WILL HAVE A NEW COACH IN LESS THEN 7 DAYS
Txdragon replied to understand's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Personally, I believe Coach Foreman is an outstanding coach and would do a great job at Central or anywhere else. -
Not to cut anyone down...but if they were padding stats they were doing a poor job of it.

How will your district finish in 2013?

Saw some of the posts and I guess I love putting my nose in where it doesn't belong but just had to say something. I read an article from a local newspaper saying how much H-F football team had improved this year. I saw both HJ and H-F games against WOS this year. I DID come away much more impressed with HJ against us. There may be times when HJ has an extremely talented team and if WOS or Silsbee are down they might beat either of those schools. However, longterm, they just never will have the overall team speed needed to beat either consistently. HJ is on the rise and should compete for the third or fourth playoff spot this season IMO.

NEWTON VS. CAMERON YOE BROADCAST/Yoe advances 39-22

Great season Eagles, nothing to be ashamed of. Get 'em next year. Good luck Newton seniors. -
Congrats Rattlers, go take care of Gilmer.

Just remember karma guys..sometimes those who aren't laughing now get to laugh when they play YOUR team. ;) As far as locking threads unless someone is spewing libel, hate, or maliciously attacking kids, parents, teachers, or coaches...let 'em play..believe totally in first admendment. If I don't like something you say, I'll say something about it and then we'll go round in circles for awhile. Us Mustang fans know that most of ya'll secretly want to be a part of us even when you put us down. It's ok, come root for a winner for awhile (or at least until we get into the final eight). :D
The Navasota Rattlers should make the playoffs as they have over the past several years. they will be losing a lot of key players this year. QB,RB 3WR, 3LB, 2DE etc... with that being said we have seveal under classmen that are starters and several more that will be processing through the system and become starters for young strong team and another spectacular RATTLER season!!!!! we have depth that should keep Navasota a playoff contender for the at least the next 4 years easily. GO RATTLERS!!!!!
Great, Looking forward to playing ya'll again next year.

Sealy star Ricky Seals-Jones verbally commits to Texas A&M
Txdragon replied to Octfeb's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Best thing A&M has ever done since hiring Bear Bryant was to hire Kevin Sumlin. The Aggies could have never done what they did in the SEC with the old coach. The Aggies talent base isn't quite on par with the SEC YET, but NOW they have a chance to be in three or four years if they continue success. However, just ask the Longhorns, top rated recruiting classes doesn't always means success. It is up to the coach to make these kids better and put them in positions to succeed. That is the main thing Texas has not done, they don't make the kids better. They rely on the kids' press clippings too much. Unfortunately, that is never going to change under Mack Brown. Time for the Horns to take a chance on someone else. -
I dont think either team choke. they both just ran into better teams. All I am saying is if Coldspring and WOS switched sides of the bracket WOS would have lost in the second round like Coldspring and Coldspring would have lost in the 4th round like WOS. Region 3 belonged to the Rattlers this year... the good thing is with 4 teams entering playoffs you wont have to play the Rattlers anymore.
I agree with running into better teams.

We got to see what Nederlands offense was like without him able to play. He was a huge part of it on offense. Montana should no doubt be the MVP. On defense you are going to have a lot of Nederland and WO-S.d
WOS is good, but I would bet not a single player from that school makes this list. ;)
I think that is one bet you would win for sure. ;)..mabe we should bring back the old triplex stuff and have an all-triplex team.
