BC v Orangefield. Bayou Bowl.
Guitar Man replied to Catcher In The Wry's topic in High School Football
I just don’t see Orangefield having a good day on O against Bridge City’s defense. BC wins by 3+ TDs -

This is going to be a great game to be at. I’ll take Silsbee in a close one with a FG to decide it. 24-21.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, here is mine. They opted up to be more competitive across the board and change the scenery from the last 4 years of being the laughing stock of SETX. Honestly, from what I’ve seen so far from BC in particular they might be competing for a district title this year. Change was needed in that city. It used to be an embarrassing program. Last year BC almost lost to Buna. Only winning 20-12 This year, they dominated them. BC hasn’t completely dominated anyone in recent memory. Now, there is excitement, and the kids and community are beaming with pride. What is wrong with that? Also, we can talk about the offensive showcase BC put on, but the defense has been absolutely lights out. You are forgetting, in a live half vs Silsbee and Newton (two of the best teams in the area) and a full game vs Buna. They have only allowed 6 POINTS. Those 6 points came late with the 2s and 3s in the game. Take it how you want. They still have to go out there and prove that they are worthy of the praise. I believe that they will. Also, I’m not trying to attack you or your opinion, I just love seeing local Orange County teams be successful, especially teams that have not been competitive in recent memory. BC should be 3-0 once the fun of district play begins. District play will provide better insight to what this team is capable of.

season opener, who you got ? Pirates or Tigers
Guitar Man replied to old guy 71's topic in High School Football
Silsbee's D-line, especially the nose, will create a lot of problems for Vidor's Oline which should handcuff Marlow from hurting them too much. It won't be a blow out though. Im expecting a relatively low scoring game especially in wet conditions. Silsbee wins 20-14 -

2024 Pick'ems Results & Discussion
Guitar Man replied to WOSdrummer99's topic in High School Football
Let’s go!!! -
From what I am collecting, Newton and BC 1s both scored in controlled portion. Newton had a couple long runs (one being a TD) called back for holding. In the two live quarters. Newton stuffed BCs first drive on offense. Newton was close to scoring on their first possession after being awarded a pass interference call, but they fumbled inside the 10 and BC recovered and completely dominated after that. BC scored 3 TDs on O and the defense shut Newton out.

LC-M is in for a long year if they don’t humble themselves. That preseason district champ label is inflating those already mammoth egos over in bear country.

BC will NOT be running the slot t. The new OC that was brought in was the OC at Lumberton last year and they were as spread as spread could be. Honestly, I can see BC being a dark horse surprise in that district. They should at least be able to compete with anyone in that district. Dave Campbell has them finishing 6th. I can see them make things interesting vying for that 4th playoff spot when it is all said and done.

Football been gone so long that spammers and hackers alike are losing their minds. This lunacy will end when we get SETX HS Football back on the menu!

Lumberton - Chase McDonald named AD/HC
Guitar Man replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Whether you like it or not, McDonald is the best hire here. The players and community support him 100%. The man is about as loyal as it gets when it comes to this job. Lumberton born and raised and came back to coach the game that he loves. Bringing in an outsider is not always the best move, because honestly to most outsiders, Lumberton is a stepping stone job. Reyes benefited greatly from that stable of kids he had. With all the talent graduating, this job is gonna be tough. McDonald isn't some guy who is gonna treat this as a notch on the ladder, and leave. That place is his home. -

Seems I was correct in my assumption. Hoping this translates to Pick ‘Ems success next season 😬 -
Mike Trahan - NEW Buna Head Football Coach

Given the parameters of the job, this is a prime setup for someone like a current coordinator or experienced position coach to add "head coach" to their resume. -
I can’t see Silsbee being District Champs with what HF has coming back vs what Silsbee is losing. I’m not sure of Jaspers returnees. WOS won’t be a threat. I can see HF running the district and Silsbee/Jasper vying for second place. I would expect Silsbee to have 6-8 wins depending on who is scheduled in non-district action with a playoff berth and a 2nd round exit. What do y’all think?
