  1. I was poking fun but if you wanna be serious I can be. Firstly what do you mean by "blind follower"? Are you referring to me NOT openly questioning EVERYTHING that a program does? Does that make me a blind follower or does that make me someone who has better things to do than write a dissertation on how a football program should be run? Secondly, has it ever occured to you that this website would be the last place anyone ever would get info on how to run a program? Lastly, I get everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when you come on here and put a program/coaches through the ringer, when in reality, they don't deserve it, I will come defend them and poke fun at you because I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. You make assumptions based on your bias, not facts. Programs put their team in the best spot to win. For some reason, Lumberton is held to a crazy high standard compared to other places. Why? IDK, but it is evident when you got a guy who bashes the program so hard. You must have a family member or close friend with a kid on the team, or you wouldn't be so adamant on blasting them so much.
  2. You got another ridiculous novel on how to be a HC/AD in Lumberton, Texas for us? 😂
  3. Why even start this thread? Newton by 50+...
  4. This game could go either way... I give the advantage to Buna. Buna wins 33 - 28
  5. I wouldn't say HF is the real deal. They will get 3rd at best in their district. District losses will come to WOS and Silsbee. Now, if they go out and blow out Liberty and beat Silsbee to play for a district championship against WOS then they can be considered the real deal. Until then, can this notion that they are.
  6. Splendora used to be a doormat, with the growth in their area they have gotten a lot better. To be able to win a district last year, and be able to compete with teams they didn't stand a chance against now speaks volumes of their area and how the growth has benefitted them. Cleveland on the other hand could be more successful, but they have a lot of problems to solve before they get there.
  7. I guess you still don't understand that this was a last ditch effort type deal. They both wanted to get a game in after all of their plan Bs fell through. It would be different if Lumberton scheduled Evadale, but they didn't. This game was played due to the flooding of Imelda. At least they got a game in and didn't sit the week out. I commend both teams for getting their players and teams together after watching their families, friends, teammates get flooded. Before you bash any person/team on here, try learning a little bit about the situation first instead of making assumptions based on a whim.
  8. Splendora is growing quickly. They have a lot more talent than previous years. I would not go off of historical stats for this game. I see Splendora winning this game by at least 2 TDs.
  9. Nah, they need to be shown that the world isn't fair. If you don't play in a blowout win or loss as a senior, that is saying something. Let the best football players get the reps because in the end, it'll benefit your team more and it's a life lesson that the world isn't always gonna be nice to me. Kids need tougher skin these days.
  10. This will be closer than some of you are predicting. It will come down to the wire, possibly overtime. EC wins in a thriller 49 to 42
  11. Porter will win this game in a blowout. 42 to 7
  12. I think Jasper wins by 3+ TDs. Prediction. Jasper 49 - LCM 20
  13. Again, this is a NON-DISTRICT game. Classification matters in district games. You wouldn't be saying this if Kirbyville had the talent that Newton has. Newton is playing Silsbee. There is a big difference in enrollment there. You gonna say anything about that game? No, because Newton has a great chance to win against ANY team in SETX regardless of classification. Also Newton is not the only example. WO-S beat Nederland and the enrollments between those two is noticeable. Someone made a post about Buna above. East Chambers can run with some bigger schools. You're arguement only applies for district games. It doesn't apply in non-district. Filling games isn't easy either. You take what you can get in non-district scheduling.
  14. Why do you say that? Would you feel differently if Kirbyville was competitive? It is a non-district. A lot of schools are playing games against smaller/bigger schools.
  15. Lumberton 49 - Kirbyville 0. I think Lumberton runs all over the Wildcats and pitches the shut out on defense. If Kirbyville scores, it will be in garbage time.
  16. Did you read the whole thread? There was an issue with funding initially. Once they were able to get the funding, they started construction. Gotta follow the timeline of events to understand why they started this project later than usual.
  17. I am going Nederland over WOS by at least a touchdown.
  18. Gonna be a great game I think. Dont forsee this one being a blowout by any team.
  19. Don't count Lumberton out of that mix. You got 4 solid teams that will challenge for the district champion spot. You never know in this district. So many close games, upsets, big injuries and surprises last year that influenced this district.
  20. Co Champs!? You do realize Huffman lost two district games and Splendora won all their district games right? That would make Splendora outright district champion. As I remember it, y'all were 2nd seed for playoffs and were NOT Co Champion of the district.
  21. Don't hold your breath, WOS should and most likely will run through all of those schools listed with little resistance. District wide speaking though, Silsbee has a great chance to beat the Mustangs and take the district. That game is going to be a good one and should decide the district winner.
  22. I think Splendora will be district champion most likely, but I honestly couldn't tell you who will take 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. The teams are so close together when it comes to talent. I wouldn't be surprised of any one of these teams shocks Splendora, or we see a co-champ situation. The 3 schools: LCM, Lumberton, and Huffman will be interesting to follow from week to week. I'm excited to see how it all shakes out!
  23. Livingston over BC!?! That is a bold prediction.
  24. I agree and love your thought that good coaches could develop athletes to become better with a good off-season programs and getting kids to buy in the program, but let's be honest about something. In terms of consistency, The number of talented young men is something you cannot control as a coach. We have several great coaches that do their best with what they are given talent wise. Regardless of who the coach is, you got to have the athletes to go out there and put points on the board or play defense. Some people do not understand how many variables go into a successful program. Most schools have a great coach to lead them, but the talent caliber of a WOS or a Newton just is not there. Reagan wants to focus on coaching records, but does not realize behind a stellar coaching records is tremendous players, awesome coaching, and communities that drop everything to be at the game on Friday night. That is the culture that needs to be in place.
  25. Reagan it's simple. If Orangefield, BC, LCM, Vidor, or any other Orange County school had the consistent number of high caliber athletes rolling through, they would see consistent success like WOS does. Like I said before, there are three main aspects to a consistently successful team. Talent, Good coaching and a community who supports the football team. You wanted to bring up history and made the focus on coaches. You cannot do that, because you leave the other factors out. Teams that have little talent and awesome coaching are usually mediocre. Teams with good athletes and bad coaching are mediocre. When you put it all together, good players that are well coached will win consistently. Yeah, there will be years where a good group will come through a usual mediocre school and make a deep run but when it comes to consistency, there is no arguement against taking into account all factors. I believe most coaching records reflect the consistent lack of athletes, or a community that has little support for their team.
