86 Teams make UIL Football Playoffs with losing Records
Guitar Man replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Football
I think the 4 team system works and should be the cap. Yeah, some teams have losing records and some get blown out in round 1. In the end, though, It gives teams in a tough district a chance to make a dent while in other systems, they wouldn't have a chance. -
86 Teams make UIL Football Playoffs with losing Records

You really wanna complain about the UIL wanting to make more money? Isn't that how capitalism works? Who cares about the UIL wanting to make more money. Next time you get a raise, find a better paying job, or come up with a genius money making idea, don't take advantage of it. You're just doing it for the money. People ALWAYS find a reason to complain about something. Let's focus on the positives. It's awesome for the kids to experience a playoff atmosphere. If I am a senior of 4 seed starting down the barrel of a 1 seed who will likely win the state championship, I'll take that whooping rather than hanging up the pads and moving on to off-season. Losing record or not. It is something those kids will take with them forever. The UIL may have it's motives, but I assure you opinions from grown dudes, who quite frankly, don't know anything about high school sports, don't really hold a candle to the experience these kids get to take part in. BTW 4 seeds have taken out 1 seeds before and it will happen again. Stop complaining and start getting excited. IT'S PLAYOFF TIME BABY!! -
If it is anything like last year, that Carthage district will be the 2nd round draw. Which is no good for the teams in our district. That district is stacked.

This game could be interesting if the Lumberton offense can get going. The defense is solid. If they start firing on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, they will win. This game is huge in determining 2nd thru 4th seed teams, given a Lumberton win by a point spread of course. Not sure what the point spread is though. Seeding is huge for making it to the second round of playoffs. 4th seed will likely play Navasota who is coming off 6 straight wins.

The Raider defense has looked awesome two weeks in a row. They have forced 10+ turnovers in that timespan and now they have a TD to show for their efforts. I hope to see the same stellar defense against Splendora with a shutout next Friday. Offense could be better with discipline, penalties will kill this offense. Too many holding calls and false starts. Other than that, BC just got outplayed all around. Good job Raiders!

LCM should win but don't sleep on the Lions. They aren't pushovers and can upset a team that doesn't take them seriously.

Lumberton with the W here. Coming off a loss to a good Huffman team, I can see them running wild on the Lions to get back on track in district play.

Little Cypress Mauriceville vs Bridge City
Guitar Man replied to MustangNation#1's topic in High School Football
Dang, that is horrible to hear. Hope the young man recovers. -
You asked if I was a blind follower. I wanted to know what you meant by that. Like I said, you are entitled to your own opinions about the team, and their decisions. I believe they are making the right decisions and are doing everything they can to win games. I believe this game could be for the District Title. One thing we can agree on is your last line. Ready for Friday to be here! Go Raiders! 🤘

LCM, Lumberton, Splendora, and Huffman are all contenders in this district. It would be foolish to write off any of these teams. I hope that the Raiders humble the Falcons this week.

Vidor at Sante Fe predictions.....
Guitar Man replied to Mytwocents3788's topic in High School Football
Vidor by at least 30. I like the Pirates here with a high amount of yardage on the ground. -
BH wins this one. I can see this one being an on the edge of your seat type game.
-
Nederland by 10. They are struggling, but I can see them getting in the W column this week.
-
I see Evadale winning in a close game, but it could go either way.

WOS by 10+

LCM should win by at least 20. -
The defense has been impressive. I think they will hold the Huffman passing attack under 150 yards. This Lumberton defense is good and should turn some heads this week.

I was poking fun but if you wanna be serious I can be. Firstly what do you mean by "blind follower"? Are you referring to me NOT openly questioning EVERYTHING that a program does? Does that make me a blind follower or does that make me someone who has better things to do than write a dissertation on how a football program should be run? Secondly, has it ever occured to you that this website would be the last place anyone ever would get info on how to run a program? Lastly, I get everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when you come on here and put a program/coaches through the ringer, when in reality, they don't deserve it, I will come defend them and poke fun at you because I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. You make assumptions based on your bias, not facts. Programs put their team in the best spot to win. For some reason, Lumberton is held to a crazy high standard compared to other places. Why? IDK, but it is evident when you got a guy who bashes the program so hard. You must have a family member or close friend with a kid on the team, or you wouldn't be so adamant on blasting them so much.

You got another ridiculous novel on how to be a HC/AD in Lumberton, Texas for us? 😂

Why even start this thread? Newton by 50+...

This game could go either way... I give the advantage to Buna. Buna wins 33 - 28

Is Hampshire Fannett the "REAL DEAL" this year
Guitar Man replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Football
I wouldn't say HF is the real deal. They will get 3rd at best in their district. District losses will come to WOS and Silsbee. Now, if they go out and blow out Liberty and beat Silsbee to play for a district championship against WOS then they can be considered the real deal. Until then, can this notion that they are. -
Splendora used to be a doormat, with the growth in their area they have gotten a lot better. To be able to win a district last year, and be able to compete with teams they didn't stand a chance against now speaks volumes of their area and how the growth has benefitted them. Cleveland on the other hand could be more successful, but they have a lot of problems to solve before they get there.

I guess you still don't understand that this was a last ditch effort type deal. They both wanted to get a game in after all of their plan Bs fell through. It would be different if Lumberton scheduled Evadale, but they didn't. This game was played due to the flooding of Imelda. At least they got a game in and didn't sit the week out. I commend both teams for getting their players and teams together after watching their families, friends, teammates get flooded. Before you bash any person/team on here, try learning a little bit about the situation first instead of making assumptions based on a whim.
