Regardless of the offense, kids need a reason or purpose to play football. Normally, for most kids, football is something they genuinely enjoy playing, because most players won’t be suiting up on Saturdays. At the end of the day, the most successful teams have kids and coaches that genuinely love the game and get joy and fulfillment playing it. Vidor’s two current biggest issues are the lack of appeal to play the game and a lack of community support. The offense has been the same for years, and Mathews did a great job of getting the kids and community behind his teams year in and year out. Vidor’s whole identity was being a team you hated to play because you knew you were in for a long physical night. That made the game fun for the kids who played, and they took a lot of pride in it. Currently, I would argue that the toxic attitude of the community towards the offense and Dubois in general is the biggest thorn in the team’s side. The need for instant gratification from fans is what is fueling it all. When the players go home or out in the community and hear: how bad the offense is, how bad the defense is, or how bad the coaching is, the players will begin to lose pride in the program, and the game is no longer fun. This leads to discipline issues and players quitting. Vidor has lost their identity and Dubois and the offensive scheme isn’t the culprit. The Vidor community needs to leave their objections of who they hired at the door and let the man work if they wanna be successful in the future.

I get what you’re saying, and I respect your opinion. I personally wish BC would’ve stayed down myself. I can’t speak for the admins that made the decision to opt up. I just hate seeing people run down the progress BC has made. I mean for the past almost decade, BC has been BAD, even in games they have won, they weren’t dominant wins.

Maybe I’m delusional, idk, but one thing is certain, I would love to see them compete against Silsbee, WOS, Jasper, and HF. They would have a shot in any of those games. Silsbee hasn’t shown me anything this year signaling that they would soundly beat BC. If BC has a chance to beat their entire district. They would have a great shot to beat Silsbee. Silsbee barely beat LCM, and LCM just barely escaped Vidor.

Nobody is scared of anything. BC would beat Silsbee and Jasper. WOS and HF would be close.

Nobody is saying that BC is a juggernaut. They are vastly improved, but not juggernauts. You see, It’s this level of sarcasm and hate that bothers me. BC finally has something to be excited about and comments like yours show that you are jealous of it, you are unhappy in life, or maybe you’re just simply a mule (for lack for a better term).

I like Lake Creek here. Gonna be a good game.

That makes a lot more sense. BC freshman beat their JV B 14-6 and BC JV beat their JV A Team 12-7 This is according to BC's Athletics Facebook page.

Orangefield has a freshman B team? Did Breaux give the “A” team have the night off? Every OF coach was at the game that night so they weren’t playing anywhere else. It would make 0 sense to not play your A team.

Still missing my point… who cares what the administration did. The kids and coaches are doing a great job with what they were given and they look the best they have looked in YEARS. Stop discrediting their success by saying they are “beating up on smaller schools” when those smaller schools were beating them or close to beating them the past several years.

Nobody thinks they are the cool kids on the block. That is a false narrative. You assume they are looking past Lumberton and the rest of the district. Also “beating up on smaller schools” is ridiculous considering the recent record of BC. • 23-24: 3-7 • 22-23: 1-9 • 21-22: 4-6 Last year Buna was 1 score and a two point conversion from forcing OT, Orangefield game was 9-6 till 4th qtr. They also ended the year on an ugly note with a loss to Liberty. BC hasn’t completely dominated anyone in recent memory. This year they are vastly improved on both sides of the ball. I believe they will compete in every district game and be in the playoff conversation at the end of the season. All this hooplah about who is on the schedule and opting up is just hogwash. Why aren’t Liberty and HJ being ridiculed for opting up? Oh I know, because they aren’t sitting 3-0 or performing as good as BC is. One thing is for certain. BC isn’t a pushover anymore and you don’t like that.
