The web site I use has the following - though it should be noted that Lamar only lists two signees and they do not have any of the SHSU class (which all came late). It has not been updated since mid-May and as you can tell, even with the players LU gets - hard to imagine them jumping 100 spots... 128. TxSt-San Marcos 166. Lamar 190. Central Ark 206. McNeese 238. SLU 256. UTSA SLC Rankings 1. TEXAS STATE 2. LAMAR 3. CENTRAL ARKANSAS 4. MCNEESE STATE 5. SE LOUISIANA 6. TEXAS-SAN-ANTONIO 7. SF AUSTIN 8. NICHOLLS STATE 9. TEXAS ARLINGTON 10. TEXAS A & M CC 11. LU football being overshadowed by UTSA

Can we also get numbers on USF's attendance before they added football? Football changes a lot of things and rubs off on the school and the rest of the athletic department... -
LU football being overshadowed by UTSA
TexasTerror replied to LUFAN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
As much as this disheartens MFFL...UTSA is getting more pub and in fact, Larry Coker has been on several major media outlets both around the state of Texas and nationally. Why is UTSA getting more pub...? 1) Larry Coker 2) They are making a move for FBS, having mentioned C-USA numerous times 3) Being in a major city 4) They are competing for and beating several BCS conferences for talent 5) The Alamodome 6) Lack of any other Div I program in SA, a major city 7) Re-development of San Antonio - multi-million dollar sports facility that could include joint arena partnership with SA-area school district at a cost of $80-100M. Georgia State is actually also getting a lot more publicity on the national level than Lamar and arguably (thanks in large part to ESPN Magazine) more than UTSA. -
Roc Will Be On Fox 4 Tonight at 9 p.m.

And soon, we'll get the yearly response from the faithful - that they agree! -
Come on MFFL, you know I only give you that crap when Roc's buddies in the media are tabbing him as a top 5, 10 class. And then, I kick back with amazement as UNLV touts the Lamar unit as the next coming of Christ. Tidwell has a different way of going about things. I do use a recruiting service web site for women's hoops, which apparently is having some issues now with a virus or something. Can not recall exactly, but I do believe Lamar was the tops in the SLC. Do not remember their national placement.

There's a SHSU guy listed. I had never heard of him...though the LU guy does look a bit old.

Lamar will have a softball team for 2010-2011
TexasTerror replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hope all those people asking if Lamar-Beaumont will add softball, catch this thread. 2010-11...what's the time frame on getting a coach? Seems like this would be a critical recruiting period right now. -
Chavis leaving TAMU to play football @ LU
TexasTerror replied to HoopInsider_Cooper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Not saying that Joseph is our savior, but he did lose out to Case Keenum, who may end up being an even better QB than Kevin Kolb. Figure some of you Cougar fans - which half of you have proven yourselves to be - know some of those names. What's funny is your smack talking Joseph, when he won't even be around anymore by the time we play you guys in 2010. If the Cards want to speak smack, they need to look at our sophomores and juniors! And if anything - Lamar is going to be the one loading up on transfers galore from the FBS level. Got to put a band-aid on the product until you can get things really rolling with several years of recruiting classes. Really have no room to talk. -

Hey - I thought the University of Houston was the most popular school on this forum. And with all this love for the Cougars, you are dogging Joseph? That's a bit out of the ordinary by the standards set here... SHSU has actually peeled back on the number of transfers from FBS in the last year or two. Nowadays, if it is not a QB or a major playmaker (i.e Chris Brown), we're not interested. And hey - you guys got "A&M's sloppy seconds" if you want to be consistent and analyze your own program like you do mine. And from the looks of it, will be taking on many more "sloppy seconds" from FBS schools. : -
Interesting article on Georgia State's startup to football
TexasTerror replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I've followed the last 5-10 football startups - probably starting with FAU. It's a neat concept that interests me. I love expansion - what can I say? And yes, I have talked to individuals behind starting football at one school - correcting their study and vision on numerous fronts (plenty of misinformation from a 2000ish study that do not hold true today). -

You schedule a few sub-Div I teams in year one. You already have attendance guaranteed because of the fact it's the return of Lamar football. Your guys get some more game experience instead of potential tougher than nails games every week. You already got one, if not two sub-Div I games in year one it seems. Langston and wasn't there another one? And I agree - it's about getting the recruits amped up for the fact they are competing for a conference title as soon as possible. It's probably the only way that you load up on JUCOs and FBS transfers to help cover up the shortcomings of a mostly freshman squad. -

Recent comparisons - FAU went with an older coach. They are doing much better than rival FIU who went the "younger route". FAU had success at the FCS level and then it translated to a more successful transition to FBS than FIU, who is still trying to find their footing. Of note, Georgia State and ODU are both going into the CAA. The CAA is the toughest FCS conference in the nation. Unlike Lamar, they are waiting what has become the typical waiting period before hopping into a conference. Lamar is going into the tough and tumble SLC in year #2 of existence. South Alabama is going to grow their way up and play scrimmages this year against teams loaded of FBS prospects and prop players. They'll play a mix of FCS and sub-Div I teams in year #2. Of all the teams, I think they are going about it right in growing their program. I think LU has the toughest road ahead of compared to UTSA, GSU, ODU and USA just based off their way they are going about their move. LU is playing the toughest schedule of any teams in the group in year #1, playing a full conference schedule in year #2. I'm just under the impression that they are rushing things, when they could probably use a more cupcake first year, a bit tougher schedule in year #2 and then conference in year #3. But, if the Cards want to throw their team into the fire, have at it. I'll let you guys disagree with me, but the proof is in the pudding. LU is bucking the recent trend of new programs and you guys without question have the toughest schedule of new programs, especially with limited sub-Div I games and no Div I games against non-scholarship programs. Further judgment when first year schedule is announced. -

Ga State was part of an ESPN series on building a football program. UTSA is going to get plenty of pub... This is what happens you are in a major city, hire a big-time coach and have goals of FBS. -

Welcome to the wonderful world of FCS football - where picking up FBS transfers is commonplace! Perhaps you guys won't dog SHSU and other schools who have added some game-changing transfers. Though, I must admit - I am surprised LU has devoted such a nice-sized article for a kid like this. Can't even say that SHSU has gone this out of the way for a guy like Chris Brown, the DE from Texas, who is a legitimate pro prospect. I am under the presumption that it because he is a local kid and they are trying to drum up that the local boys can return home, especially when it finishes like this... -
Lamar-Beaumont is building a soccer/softball complex, if you read the article regarding facilities (namely the football stadium).

Lamar-Georgia State Series
TexasTerror replied to TexasTerror's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There are a lot of players, who despite having a good chance of being a starter and increase his chances at the NFL by going FCS, head to FBS - regardless if it's A&M or Louisiana-Lafayette. It's a shame too. Of course, the allure of UTSA is that it's neat starting something new and they are telling these guys that they get to play in the Alamodome and help the program land in FBS. -
Lamar-Georgia State Series
TexasTerror replied to TexasTerror's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
And this is said without having any idea why Georgia State is picking up, correct? Must say the coverage that GSU has had in their start up has been sensational and all other start up programs as of late pale in comparison. And UNLV - have you seen what kind of talent UTSA has picked up? Most recent commit picked UTSA over Big 12 schools who had already offered... -

I believe SHSU is the first known home game for Cardinal Stadium... We can always move that game to Huntsville or even the Berry Center at a neutral site in Houston... -
These were the dates that I found on a Georgia State board... Lamar will be playing at Georgia State on Nov. 6, 2010 and then hosting Georgia State on Sept. 15, 2012. Solid series. Opening year at the GeorgiaDome and then they come to Cardinal Stadium in 2012.

Guessing his whole signing class for the spring is JUCOs (as they typically are for most schools) and if you announce before you sign, that's not looked highly upon in the eyes of the NCAA.
