  2. From talking to McNeese people, in football - it was never that great a rivalry. Says one McNeese fan, "it never really generated much enthusiasim - mostly because they were rarely much good". Said the game sold out, but all McNeese home games did back then. Said LU was behind USL, La Tech and NLU as far as rivalries go.
  3. I'm more excited than anything about LU building on their SLC-record for last place finishes in league play!
  4. Thought you guys would enjoy the read... [Hidden Content]
  5. I was just having fun - do not see that version coming to life. Trying to give support to my friend Panther88
  6. Big news out of the system office... [Hidden Content]
  7. There is a lot of talk about this on the national level of FCS. If Lamar can duplicate, it would really springboard the program nationally. They have just shy of 20k seats at Old Dominion...with 6000 reserved for students/visiting fans/band. [Hidden Content]
  8. Updating the football stadium is a must. The basketball arena is comparable to several Sun Belt facilities, if not better (including current ones at ULM, NT and Troy). Not much needs to be spent there. SFA too. I think they need to be included in the group. Ultimately, it is the Texas schools who have been in Div I a good while who are leaving the rest (the La. schools) behind. It's not fair, but it is a money game and the La. schools have operated with one hand tied behind their back for so long and are really starting to feel that hurt.
  9. La Tech will not take part in letting ULL into any conference. I just do not see why people continue to think that. Same goes for ULM. I do agree that the WAC would have to form a "Western Division" and I am not sure that New Mexico State would love to be in the 'Eastern' side of it. What if the WAC had 10 football schools and two non-football (i.e. Denver)? No point in having a WAC football championship game. Would be too late to scramble schools halfway across the country. And as noted numerous times before, SHSU will not watch both TXST and LU go FBS. SHSU is on pace for an enrollment over 20,000 by 2020. Another athletic fee increase - now that we have a pro-athletics SGA president - could fuel things even more. SHSU is no worse than ULM in terms of facilities. The budgets are relatively comparable, especially if SHSU went to FBS.
  10. I was referring to you say that "only 1 of the 4 games counts against the number of games you can play." Figured you knew what a MTE is, guess I was mistaken. I do not fault you for posting any mention of Lamar elsewhere. Next summer, it'll pick up this time of year.
  11. Come on coachacola, you should know better! It's a MTE. Multi-team exempt event. This is why you see teams play in these as much as they are allowed.
  12. Ouch! "Southern Alabama"...??? Enjoy... [Hidden Content]
  13. What's the status of the soccer facility?
  14. SHSU's Jason Hooten and Lamar's Kermit Holmes are listed honorable mention amongst the top 25 mid-major hoops assistant coaches. [Hidden Content]
  15. Iowa LB Jacody Coleman according to an e-mail I just received...
  16. TCU has not really played FCS teams too much in the last 10 years. In fact, if I looked correctly - since 1990, they have only played UC-Davis in '06 and SFA in '08. And none are currently on schedule besides Lamar in '13. While some schools constantly look down on FCS, perhaps you can account this to TCU not regularly playing foes from the level.
  17. This month's progress report... [Hidden Content] For those seeking scheduling tidbits...
  18. With the difficulty of scheduling as both teams are not in conference in 2010 - why not? ???
  19. CFB Palace is reporting an in-season home-and-home between LU and Georgia St. Atlanta (Nov 6) and Beaumont (Sep 15).
  20. All SLC future schedules as known - [Hidden Content]
  21. Anyone know if MT is a home-and-home? January games against Tulane and Ark St at home are great gets and would be nice wins for the SLC. This is a solid schedule. The typical four non-Div Is that we have expected under the current rules of the conference, but those aside - everything else looks good.
  22. 9/8/2012 - A&M 2013 - TCU, Oklahoma St per running tally at KatFans.com: [Hidden Content]
  23. Do not believe such thing is allowed against programs like that, who are already established. Do not think those programs would want to do that to begin with due to injury potential... As I said before, LU turned away at least one, if not two teams interested in playing a game against Lamar - similar to what South Alabama is doing this year against eight opponents.
  24. No question there. The novelty of football wear off...
  25. Similar to TXST - the Roadrunners are investing tons of money into a move to FBS. I think both programs will be FBS for at least 5-10 years before Lamar sniffs the level, if ever. We're talking about programs who are building it up now and if you are talking long-term success, when is that...20, 40, 60 years from now?
