Just because it may be the right decision, and that can be a legitimate debate, doesn't mean this isn't a sad day.  A lot of people have attachments to both schools. In a lot of ways your school is a family.  I believe they have every right to be sad and upset. All us outsiders should allow it and give the Jags and Panthers their space to grieve.

They're going to have to find a new identity and that's going to take time. I wish them all the best.

Ozen is barely old enough to drive, much less have a history that is worth mourning over. This isn't a sad day, it's a bright day for the future of BISD and the children of the district. I just shake my head at those who think the BOM is not doing what is best for the district and they should seat the recently (and incomprehensibly) elected school board. If some of the stolen money or the money used to build the shrine on IH-10 had been retained and managed properly, then maybe the money would be there to fix Central. It's not there so it's not being fixed. Maybe the "community" in Beaumont can apply this "sad day" to the legacy of those who they elected over and over again and see the err of their ways. Probably not but maybe.

Just saying...  The boss was voted on last year, yet, those guys never have taken a seat.  These are people that's from the actual community and interact with the kids in their respective communities.  The BOM, those guys are in the communities.  Heck, I question if their even from Beaumont...

Lord have mercy, you are upset because the BOM has made the proper decision for the future of the kids and city you love so much. It blows my mind how the citizens of Beaumont are so blind to their plight.

I am recruiting for a small university in Abilene Tx and we want to run a separate wildcat offense 4 to 10 times a game.  These freshman will work together as a whole unit.  So we want athletes with hs experience of under center triple option, veer option and or midline option.

I played at McMurry in the early 2000s. Go Tribe....errr...Warhawks.

Strickland was in the final 2 last go around, I would think it would be his if he wanted it. Unless a Barbay decides to throw his name in the running, then that's a no brainer.

Then why wasn’t he hired last year? Think he might feel a bit burned?

For the most part I agree with you buddy.  It just depends on who the other 6 teams in the district are besides West Brook.

I still ask the question, if the main building at Central is not going to be used anymore, why does it look like a turnaround at one of your local plants over there everyday?

BISD can invest the money in the building and, even in the case of a merger, use it in another capacity. This isn't about a lack of facilities as much as it is about an opportunity to do what should've been done long ago. No need for three high schools in Beaumont and this is a convenient excuse to make that a reality. it's the right decision.

When I see this publication, I remember that this was the, ahem, "journalist" who, among other things, made the claim that the Ozen football team had trashed the visitor's locker room at Barbers Hill High during a bi-district football game.  A claim that was refuted by the AD at Barbers Hill almost immediately upon hearing it.

When I hear this "gentleman" speak regarding anything BISD, I immediately dismiss this as a guy with an agenda against BISD.

I'm not saying that the TEA isn't pleased with the school district as board members who were elected 6 months ago are still not in office.  What I AM saying is that I will NEVER rely on the words of Phillip Klein to be accurate or even close.

Klein is a cook.....but his info aligns with what I am hearing from other reputable sources.

All jokes aside, I never understood the crazy support that was poured out for the old South Park HS, or the gusto with which administration displayed when demolishing it. I’m sure there were dynamics at play that outsiders like myself could only wonder about.

I also fully expect that people who felt that they “lost” on South Park are poised to return the favor regarding whatever ends up happening to Central HS.

I fully expect that we’re all about to take another lap on the old BISD political roller coaster regarding the fate of the these two schools.

I’ve also read predictions that the TEA is displeased with the ongoing turmoil and steadily declining school rankings of some BISD campuses. That source believes that we’ll see a complete TEA takeover and a conservator appointed to replace the current Board of Managers within the next two months. I doubt it, but who knows what will happen if a conservator is appointed.

I am telling you, the TEA is not happy about the reelection of Bush and the son of Reece. They are going to do everything in their power to ensure the people of Beaumont do not get to reseat the very people that single handedly oversaw the destruction of BISD. I am not sure how accurate your source is, but I can assure you all that the TEA is considering all options at this point.

Heck, we're still waiting on the board that we voted for to actually be seated...  The board that's present is the BOM that they want to stay in place for a little longer...

And who is "they"? If you are referring to the TEA.....agreed. If not, I am not sure I am following what you are implying.

I'd probably drag my feet too since the citizens of District 2 reelected Zenobia Bush, and the citizens of District 4 elected the son of Woodrow Reece who wasn't even sharp enough to file to run for the district he lived in. Obviously the citizens of those two districts are fine with the corruption of the previous board and BISD's fragile condition cannot handle any of what they've had for the past several years. The TEA should ensure the current BOM holds on to their position until the people living in Beaumont can pull their heads out of their rear ends and ensure that their children's futures are taken care of.
