Barbay chose to leave Jasper.
As a Mean Green Wolverine he is 0-4.
anywho.........
Please. We both know he was under pressure from the board and the community.
As for your other comment, who care about Louisiana HS football.....lol

So maybe Barbay wasn’t the issue?

Coach Birdwell just joined a very small/unique group of coaches at HD, only a few coaches in HD history have lost to long time rivalries Hardin and WH in the same season… Way to go Coach Bird! SMH!! Applications will be passed out!!
Two weeks ago he was doing great and finally listening to the 1979 dads in the crowd and making good adjustments. What changed?

Huffman is terrible.

They had a chance to keep him 1 or 2 more years and never know what happens after that. And Hardin has that ability. As for the boys athletic program, I don’t think they have ambitions and expectations or they would of kept them there. No denial here and not my program.
From what I have gathered, it was a question of resourcing the program in the way that could set them up for success in the future. Barrier needed more assistants in order to elevate the program from a coaching perspective. Keep in mind, Barrier wasn't even the AD at Hardin, just the HFC. That is another issue and made it extremely easy for him to leave to be an assistant in another district. It wasn't like he was walking away from an administrators salary to take an assistant role at Anahuac. The younger Barrier is a generational talent and would've been the best player Hardin football had ever seen, and his dad is a damn good coach also. I am not sure anything would've been able to keep them there, but Hardin didn't even try. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hardin has too many hands in the cookie jar over there. Small town politics at it's finest. Board members and parents who are not realistic in their expectations. They let Anthony Morgan get out of the gate years ago, and Barrier will be the next one they will regret for decades.
-
Anahuac is much better than anyone is giving them credit for. They hung tight for three quarters with a Newton team who has a win over WOS this season, and handily beat the #9 team in the state, New Waverly, a couple of weeks ago. I expect them to roll through this district and by November, they will have garnered some attention state wide. Playoffs are always a crap shoot so we will see how that goes, but this is the beginning of the ascension for the Panthers. They have a Freshman QB, who may very well be the best QB in that district, and several sophomore skill players who are playing like seasoned vets. If you are a Panther fan, expect many deep runs and potential AT&T visits in the next 4 years.

Anahuac by as many as they decide to hang.

Your friend is wrong. TL buys the video rights from the schools, not the other way around.
Well heck. You'd think every school in the state would take advantage of a deal like that.

I have a friend who is in the know on these types of things, and he has told me it's pretty expensive for these districts to contract with Texan Live. Especially when most schools are now supporting AV departments who are capable of streaming live on YouTube for much less. Anahuac does this on their channel "Anahuac Sports Live", and the video and audio quality is significantly better than what you sometimes get on Texan Live.

Nope, they heard the noise, the right decision was finally made at QB, politics left out and it’s working like a charm.
2-0! HD!Or, Bird made the decision on his own because he's a good coach. Not because he heard it from the stands. Maybe?

Lol, SMH, with his 1st carry last night vs Bay City, Victorian goes 70 yards for a TD in his 4A Debut! He also broke open another long TD and rushed for over 150 yards! Great prediction Herbstreet!
The comment letting kids leave to neighboring big schools: It’s easy to just give up on kids, it’s harder to invest and coach them. Also, the Victorian kid never was a terrible kid, HD had way worse in last few years. Over the years HD has lost some good athletes to dumb/lazy coaching decisions, and I’m not talking about on the field decisions. You can’t be a coach that just says oh well, go! Look at the Josh Finney’s and apparently the Baytown and Liberty coaches, both got kids that will play college ball. Devante Broussard and Dawson Victorian, former HD Bobcats, look them up and follow both, they are exciting to watch.
You still upset with Bird's unwillingness to ruffle feathers, his choice of QB, or his poor coaching decisions that have led to kids leaving the program?

Silsbee didn't "expose" Huffman. Nothing surprising happened Friday. Silsbee is a good team and is better than Huffman. That was the story before the game and certainly after.
Everybody that has been watching Huffman knows this team is not as good as the teams in the last few years. There is still some talent in a few spots but there aren't any "shockers" with 1-1.
I would be happy with 2-1 after this week and not shocked if its 1-2. I'd pump the brakes on the new head coach getting run out of town based on the play so far.
No one said he was going to be run out of town, but stating the obvious, the hire will be questioned more than it already has been if these types of beatdowns continue. It doesn't get any easier once district begins.

Huffman is in trouble. They don't look particularly prepared and Silsbee exposed them last Friday. Buchta has to get it corrected or the whispers are going to begin around town and the program. Everyone's happy with the hometown kid until the hometown kid starts 0-3, 0-4 or 0-5. I think they can right the ship, but it needs to start this week.

Or the fact that Neece is utilizing the talents he currently has. Anahuac has a pretty good set of receivers, very good size and athletic ability. Most of the passes were short routes that the receiver turned into big gain. Also, several of the throws were fade routes that the bigger receiver took advantage of the smaller defender. Not alot of passes that were 15+ yards down field.
Newton had a handle on Anahuac's run game so Neece was going to the passing game pretty often to hopefully open up the run game.
2nd half, Newton took away the short passes therefore getting the shutout in 2nd half.
Neece knows what he has and that's a talented freshman QB that in time will eventually be the man for the offense.
AAW, if you had to grade the Freshman on his first start against the #3 team in the state, and arguably the most dominant program ever in the SETX area, how would you grade him?

Neece, and barrier on the passing game.
I thought Neece said Barrier was his Quarterbacks Coach. Is Neece the OC?

Who is the play caller?

The Freshman QB is a difference maker in Anahuac. 21 passing attempts in the first half……totally different team than last year.

Probably my only chance to see Newton this year.
Will this game be streamed anywhere?

The EC program has been dominant since 1995. ThT was Evans first year. Since then they have missed the playoffs only once. That’s pretty impressive. Everyone talks about coaching, the talent here inWinnie Stowell is second to none. Every coach since Evans has came in and made the playoffs. It’s the talent, not the coaches getting all of the credit. I have never liked Open Campuses, the move in sometimes hurt teams and local players. I feel if you don’t sleep here, you do not need to play here
EC was absolute garbage prior to Andy Evans arriving and changing absolutely everything for that program moving forward. He did a phenomenal job, not only winning football games, but changing the culture of EC athletics as a whole. They need to put a statue of him out there somewhere or name the stadium after him....something....

Yes, you sure do. The only thing that's fact is, He quit and is a quitter in the eyes of the kids who he coached.
So inaccurate. Do a little research before you make yourself look like a fool. The change.org petitions are still out there, full of players signing and justifying the signing by saying they wanted him to stay. An out of control school board member pushed him out because they wanted Haynes back in Hardin.

I thought Stark was at Hardin for 1.5 years before he quit the kids?
Maybe to, but it wasn't long. Did he quit? yes. Was he run out of town by out of control adults? also yes.

If HD stays political with coaches kids starting over players with more talent, HD will have a terrible season. The QB position for HD is all favoritism, there are 3-4 better options at QB for HD, but Wallace’s kid will start, Birdwell won’t ruffle feathers with his staff. Also, they keep letting athletes like Devante Broussard and now Dawson Victorian leave to Liberty and Baytown, FYI both kids will excel for these bigger schools, Devante did last year. If HD replaces the Wallace kid at QB, they win 3 more games, at this point every team that plays HD, they put 11 in the box lol.
Wow. Quite the statement only one week into practice. Sounds like someone has an axe to grind and would rather create chaos in the program than try to help it along. Good luck with that.

THIS. It must be maddening for Bird to see his old friends dragging him like this in public forum because a down program is losing games. If I were him, I'd find the first train out of town when the season ends.
