Straddling the plate without the ball is not a good defensive position. The runner has the right to reach the base. Absolutely any malicious contact would warrant an ejection but the runner is not required to slide. I would think the catcher should have positioned herself to catch the ball in front of the plate where she could then drop to block the plate after she has possession. If the catcher does not allow access to the plate prior to having possession of the ball, then obstruction should be called and the runner would be safe at the last base the umpire judged she would have reached without the obstruction. I agree that we need to protect the kids from unnecessary contact. Not sure how the catcher has been taught to receive a throw. If she is taught to straddle the plate, then I'm surprised this is the first time she has been ran into.

Come on now. SEC is not thought of as a B-Ball Conference. But A&M does look pretty good at times, and next year they should be a load for Kentucky. I'm just messin" with you though. Kentucky is one heck of a team. I'm waiting for the Horns to get their stuff together ! Hopefully beore its to late.

Mikaela Stegall, an outfielder for LCM and Orange Crush Gold has been selected to the Under Armour National Softball team. Mikaela is a Senior this year at LCM and has committed to continue her softball career at UT Tyler next year.

I'm glad I had Girls and not boys.... because I would hate to know I would have to put them in this league from the stuff I'm hearing on here ! Some of you are just plain NUTS ! I mean y'all are talking about young men here. Time to set an example for them !

Maci Dean a Senior at PNG High School and Orange Crush Gold player has verbally committed to continue her softball career at San Jac College. Maci will be a Senior this year at PNG and is one of the best pitchers in the area. Kid has phenominal stuff and should help San Jac immediately as a Freshman. Congrats Maci and good luck at the next level ! Now relax a little bit and enjoy your senior year. The entire CRUSH Family is extremely proud of you and wish you nothing but the best !

Love him or Hate him the kid can flat out play and he's exciting to watch.

Kellyn will be a Senior this coming year at BC and has been a dominant pitcher for the Cardinals for several years. She is one of the nicest kids you'd ever meet and works hard at her pitching daily.

Congratulations to Katie.  PNG has a great softball program and legacy as does Orange Crush Gold.  Before Katie leaves for college hopefully she and her PNG teammates have made a run at the state championship in Austin. 

I find it kind of hard to believe that a 2A school could win a recruiting war over a very good 5A school. I would imagine a quiter more secure living area had allot to do with them moving.

Congrats Logan ! Big accomplishment. I'm sure Mom and Dad are tickled to death. Doesn't seem long ago you were running around a softball park trying to find any mudhole around that you could get into !

Wait until they play someone other than Central before saying anything.
