In 2018 we gave up over 400 yards rushing to DV…guess who was head coach? Lol you speaking on what you have no clue about seriously

How many points did NS give up?

I don’t care if gave up 800 yards!   You gave up fewer points and won the game.

Kay’s presence is being missed.   I don’t care if you coached there 35 years and were there with Aymond since 94.

I’ve seen enough NS football since 1992 to have an opinion, and know what kind of defense they are currently playing.

No need to connect the dots…I was apart of the defensive staff for 6 years! Kay had nothing to do with the defense from play calling to personnel. Kay ran the special teams & the scout team during practices…Garrett Cross has been the DC since Kay took over as head coach & has ran the show & called every defensive play since.

Btw statically NS is better defensively than they were last year

    I bet!

Like Belichek don’t have anything to do with defense.    Like Saban and Gary Joseph don’t have anything to do with defense.

Defensive coaches that turn head coach don’t lose their identity.

North Shore don’t give up 35 halfway through the 3rd with him on the sideline.   Head coach or DC!

Man Kay didn’t call one play on defense 😂😂😂 the same DC who was calling plays for the past 3 state titles is still calling them. Y’all be so damn clueless…

I call BS on that.   He was a defensive coach for a long time.    And a very successful one.   If you can’t connect the dots of him leaving, and them taking a giant step back on defense, that’s on you.

I wasn’t born yesterday.   I know how it works.    They would be a much better defensive team with him there.   Period.

Easy — they never had the fortune of hiring a Surratt or Buchanan.  Carthage and Aledo wasn’t doing much of anything (zero State Titles) until these coaches came along.  Regarding Huffman:  I personally knew 2 of their coaches.  And you can trust me 100% when I say they were “not” Championship type coaches!!  How do you explain the downfall at Nederland?  How about the downfall at WOS?  How about the glory that’s happened to PNG.  What affected these changes, talent or coaching?  If one is being honest — I think the answer is clear!
PS — It’s easy for coaches and their fans to explain away why some coaches stay for 22, 42 years and never make the big dance:  they just blame the talent!  Think about it, through all them years not one group of kids was talented??  Would you honestly believe that??!!
PSS — one year Vidor had 18-20 returning starters and couldn’t do anything with it.  Is it any surprise this coached ended his career with a losing record?!

Coaching can be explained at WOS.

Aledo is a different answer.    They’ve won with 3 different coaches.    They have coaching, talent, and community support.    A culture of winning.    Until they move up, they won’t be pushed.   Once they go 6A-D2, see if they win a title within 6 years.   Is the new coach at Aledo a big time coach, or is he coaching a big time program?  Maybe both.

Carthage always had the talent, just like Jasper has got the talent.    Surratt was the perfect fit for that community.   Surratt would not do the same thing at any of those schools mentioned….. or would have a extremely slim chance.

There are as many elite coaches that have won a state title after 7 years, than before.   Your logic is flawed and your vision is one of fantasy.

This is simple, stupid here... notnsure why its confusing, ....OF definitely would not be switching to an air raid offense because they get a good passer for the first time in history... and if he's a great passer. They probably won't be attending OF who lives in the slot t.... or doesn't matter how well he throws and goes anyway and probably plays rb....

The spreads work well with a lot of kids running 4.8’s

    Didn’t you know.

Absolutely!  Why not?  He did it in his second year at Carthage.  No titles before Surratt and how many since he’s been there!  The point is: some coaches have that special talent.  At any given time there’s only less than 10% elite coaches.

Carthage also has the special talent many other schools don’t.   Athletic talent.

A great coaching job at HJ or Liberty would be the 3rd or 4th round.

Reggie Samples, Claude Mathis, or Gary Joseph could come to Beaumont United and a great coaching job would be to get 2nd or 3rd in that district.

Some people live in reality, others fantasy.

Pay? The pay wouldn’t be that far off. I don’t know if anyone really knows how much Peevey really makes but I do.

    Money isn’t everything either.

Would you rather be somewhere you’ve set expectations so high after Year One and the fan base/admin is growing impatient, or your Hometown where you would be on a pedestal as long as you make the playoffs every couple years? Expectations are very low in Orangefield.

Yeah OF facilities need some work but we’ve seen what Peevey can do in terms of Facilities in a very short time. If LCM wasn’t so tight with their fund balance (savings/rainy day fund) all the facilities would be upgraded by now in Bear Country.

I know what I’d do. Trade that Green/Gold for the Orange/White.

    Come Back Home Coach Peevey!!!

If you think they were tight before, wait until the full effect of IP shutting down has on the district.

  8. I’ll lean towards coaching… but you better have the talent level to go with it.    You shouldn’t have to have Duncanville talent every year to win, but you have to have athleticism.

But a head coach, perhaps more importantly the staff he hires, and the culture he instills is most important in the success of a program…. Just my opinion.

I remember people saying PNG had a ceiling and wouldn't be able to beat teams like FBM but here they are in Dallas again.  Not saying OF is PNG, just saying it's all about the standard thats instilled in the team and community.

    I agree to a point.

PNG also has a history, culture, and quite a bit of talent.

PNG was no stranger to the 3rd and 4th round, they just needed to learn to play defense.   They went and found their answer.

OF has a long ways to go to be playing in Arlington.   They should be happy with the leader they’ve had.   Hiring a man to come in and take them from the 1st round, to the 3rd or 4th round would take a miracle.

Not that it shouldn’t be the goal, just don’t let the goal be the expectation.
