  1. , but you have to get your team into a couple of State Title games before you are a great coach in Texas. 2-2 in the playoffs is far from it! Not necessarily true. For example... Coach takes over a perennial losing team, turns them around and they begin to go 6-4/5-5/7-3. School has marginal athletes and the coach has to scheme every single game in order to win. He gets the most from his kids and there are very few hall walkers. Thats a great coach.
  2. Great post. Someone gets it. That is hilarious. Nail on the head as well!
  3. Your obligation is to pay your taxes and vote. Other than that YOU are not qualified to pick a head coach.
  4. Not whining at all. Just amazed at the arrogance of ignorant boobs such as yourself! I doubt that you could tell the difference between the power I and the wishbone.
  5. If people think that junior high coaches aren't capable then they obviously don't know much football. Some of the games most creative and inspiring coaches are at the junior high levels. And yes, most junior high coaches have varsity experience. Take this for example, a guy is coaching varsity and he has a son in 6th grade. He asks to be put at the junior high level so that he can coach his son. I've seen it happen several times. Sometimes guys go to the jh level to get away from the politics. Sometimes the teaching fields dont match. And yes sometimes they are beginners or are on their way out (retirement).
  6. This thread should be removed. Posters who probably couldn't tell a football from a basketball on here debating the pros/cons of Long. Mike Long has a family that may read this, players that may read this. This type of thread will lead to nothing good. Would it be okay to get a page to talk about the refinery workers, loggers, lawyers, etc... And express our in depth knowledge of their line of work?
  7. So a Curtis Barbay or the head coaches of any of the successful 1A-2A's don't have what it takes? LOL Football is football. Running a smaller school is just like running a larger school. In the smaller schools you don't have as many assistants, you don't usually have an athletic department secretary, etc... Don't count out guys that have been AD's at the smaller school level. Most are there because they like it, or have ties to that particular school. Lots of great football at the smaller school levels. Mart, Alto, Newton, Anahuac, Evadale, West Sabine, Buna, Joaquin, and many more have successful, football-sound, head coaches.
  8. You guys sure don't mind playing around with other people's livelyhood do you? Those that are already there do have wives and kids to feed I'm sure but go ahead and sit at your factory job as an education system/football know it all. By the way. Although teachers do get renewed in February, most dont sign contracts until April and even then all teachers/coaches have until the first of July to opt out of that contract. We all have the right to say anything. Its called freedom of speech. However, it doesn't make us right just because its "a right". Teachers and coaches are taxpayers as well. As a taxpayer you vote and pay taxes, that is your duty. Not to be a know it all about things that you aren't educated in. And no teachers/coaches don't have to kowtow to any "taxpayer". Teachers/coaches do not work for YOU!. Go to those coaches faces and tell them what you really think if you are man enough. Carping anonymously on a message board in the privacy of your living room is not the correct way. Thats really simple to understand! You aren't the only ex Marine out there padre.

  10. Lets talk greatnesss AFTER they win. Good luck on their season though.

  12. No in Texas a masters degree is not reaquired to be an AD. Purely district choice.
  13. This is sad to hear. I didn't know the guy but I will pray for his wife and children. This could happen to any one of us at any time. Prayers from Evadale.
  14. In pic #5 it looks like the ball is coming out. Either way this is all a moot point. Congrats on the great season Jags.
  15. I'm sure a lot of the area coaches would love to "meet" the posters.
  16. I'm not going to get into whether if is rediculous or not but it is not against the law. In a 4 period block schedule schools are only required to give a conference every other day. If LCM wants a quality head football coach then they need to keep the AD position tied to it.
  17. Probably not. I'm sure that there are good coaches on the staff. Remember as well that those guys are teachers and probably some good ones at that. Teaching is the main portion of their contract, coaching is only a supplement.
  18. Traylor is a Gilmer graduate coaching in his hometown. According to PNG people, hometown guys or locals can't coach.
  19. This post kills me, although its very funny. And just what do those business men know about football? Probably nothing, nada, zero. Those business men's rear ends are not in the fire, the supt's is. The board hires nobody, the supt does. The supt can put together a committee but ultimately she/he is the one responsible. Legally the supt is the only one who can hire and fire. The only person the board can hire/fire is the supt.
  20. I'm with ya on that. Its just not the same. Even when its messy, rainy and muddy the natural grass field beats turf any day.
