Hook'em

Well, I know some of you keep up with sports much closer than I do, but I have never seen an Astros' lineup like this. No one to pitch around. They may have had better pitching staffs with Ryan, J.R. Richard, Neikro, Sutton, etc, but nothing like the bats they have right now. This is very exciting to watch and I hope they can keep it up.

Hang him in the middle of town for all to see.  You won't see me make excuses for idiots regardless of which way they lean. 

I'm hoping they can make a play for Gerritt Cole from the Pirates or Chris Archer from the Rays. They do need help in the rotation because Fiers and Musgrove have been very inconsistent and I don't trust McHugh to come in and be lights out after he gets off the DL.

Nene out for playoffs. Now i will see us going to small ball with Anderson, Gordon,Harden,Williams and Beverly. Harrell will get some minutes too

Two wks later J. Jones visited GM & they were out walking.  GM spots lil boy with his pups & tells Jerry, You got to see this.  Hey young fellow, which team does your pups like?  Lil boy says, The Texans.  GM hollered, But two weeks ago, you said the Cowboys.  Lil boy said, Yea, but that was before they opened their eyes.

Just watched a 60 Minutes segment on how the Cubs turned things around.  Very interesting.  They said the GM, Jed Hoyer, acquired in 2011, looked to build the team getting young players in the draft.  What he focused on was character.  When the 60 Min reporter ask for an example, Hoyer mentioned Kyle Schwarber, the Cubs left fielder.  Hoyer liked the kid because he played baseball like a football player.  Played all out.  Would run thru a wall to make a play.  As I remember, he personally interviewed all their top picks.  He wanted guys like Schwarber and young men who were optimist.  He talked to the players friends and girl friends to get a grip on how the guy handled himself with any adversity. 
Being an oldtimer, and having a hard time identifying with the antics of today's athletes, I found it refreshing.  I immediately thought of the Cowboys under Landry.  I'm barely able to record a show, but some of you might have the knowledge and ability to watch it if interested.

I'm god the Rockets won but that beat down wow I just hope they didn't wake a sleeping giant ... kinda like the OKC and Spurs series last year. 

Spurs too old for that high tempo offense. If Rockets play like this every game they will win it all this year.
Pop will will not have another performance like this. Expect a response.

The 8 man rotation, the hack a Roberson strategy, the great out of time out execution. It feels good to go into games knowing your coach doesn't put you at an automatic disadvantage. I was a little skeptical of the hire at first as most were, but I'm glad to say I was wrong.

Astros win in 10. You really can't turn these guys off, or record them like I do. What a batting lineup. Beltran hit 2 foul HRs, walks, and scores the go ahead run. Altuve on fire today. What a great player. I feel blessed to be able to live in the era he is playing.

Best record in MLB. Great hitting can save your pitcher who might be having a bad night. No one to pitch around is very nice. Keep it going!

Hey, I was great in math until they bred it with English.  Saying A + B = ? drives my 2+ 2 mind crazy.  Btw, I was disturbed recently when watching Ch 6 Challenge - two schools vying against each other on questions.  Each school has 3 of their brightest on a team.  The question was:  if a salesman makes 15% on a sale, and he sells something for $1500, how much did the salesman make?  I had $225 in about 5 sec (10% 150 + half 75=225).  All students had pencil and paper.  One school said $100, then the other $125.  I'm thinking, unbelievable.  Then it dawned on me, these kids are use to using calculators.  Sadly, no one ever taught them a few basic shortcuts - 10% drop the last zero.  I'm thinking maybe six weeks of doing math without a calculator might be a good thing lol.
Btw, A + B = Duh  

I know it is early in the 2017 season, but the Astros could have something special.  Barring injury, and Lord forbid our early season high hopes jinx the team, but the Astros could be a strong contender for the AL crown and a legitimate threat to win the World Series.  I know, it's April.  Slow down 1989NDN.
It's early, but so far the Astros have average to above average starting pitching, a strong bullpen (middle relief and closing), and the pieces of the puzzle on offense are starting to gel.  One through nine in the batting order can get hot and swing the stick.  And, who doesn't love Jose Altuve?  He is 5'5" of dynamite.  My favorite Astros player for the past three seasons.  He is what young kids should strive to be as they grow up playing baseball.  Hey kid, you're too small, you're to slow, blah...blah...blah...you can't do it at 5' 5"...you can't do this...you can't do that....  Yet, Altuve can do it all.  Love his tenacity and grit at the plate.  He can fight off the inside heat, he can fight off the curve ball and slider, and he can wait for his pitch to hit.  Great player.
NO INJURIES in 2017.  Go Astros.  It could be a special season.
