DannyShapiroBE got a reaction from Goblin in Updated Rankings: Top 10 teams in SETX high school football
Let me know what you disagree with...these are my rankings.

Also, had a story in Sunday's newspaper about football players who, like many in this area, are still displaced despite the return of school, football:

Coach Mathews was gracious enough to let me go behind the scenes before Tuesday's season opener.

I agree and trust it will be handled in house.

DannyShapiroBE got a reaction from prepballfan in West Orange Stark Mustangs vs Bridge City Cardinals
Cornel also let on Nederland vs. West Orange-Stark may happen this season after all. Teams have the same bye week and Cornel and Monte Barrow have discussed setting it up. Nothing set in stone but something to look for in the coming weeks.

Given the number of responses, I think we can say that Danny made a good call by running this.

Look at the variance between salaries of the 22-5A coaches as well. Very interesting.

DannyShapiroBE reacted to WOSgrad in Schedule changes
Actually, I just got a response back from Jeff Nelson and the game will be on the 26th.
It is true that the game was changed to the 27th. But, after that change was made, Jeff Mathews requested that the game be moved back to the 26th, which was done.

DannyShapiroBE got a reaction from Alpha Wolf in Schedule changes
Yes, game is on the 27th. The two teams decided that after that schedule was passed out, which is why it doesn't show it there.

DannyShapiroBE got a reaction from AshlyHasBeen in 22-5A DEC Meeting This Week
Concern I heard (and I'm sure Ashly too) with scheduling something next week was that the compressed district schedule is frontloaded with short weeks. Ozen coach Taylor said he's unlikely to play a game next week because his team, which is smallest in district, is playing 4 games in 17 days (including against Central) before their bye. Wants his players to stay as fresh as possible before that stretch.

DannyShapiroBE reacted to AshlyHasBeen in Port Neches-Groves vs Silsbee lets hear your thoughts??
Danny is right. They were hoping to do so, but now there are no plans for any athletic events this weekend.

DannyShapiroBE reacted to AggiesAreWe in Starting to hear word of cancellations in the Houston area.
I believe there is no point in posting any game predictions. I am certain no local games will be played this week. No sense in trying to prepare for anything in this mess. Just call week 1 a wash (no pun intended) and move on to your week 2 opponent.
We are forecast to get 15-20 more inches of rain up to Friday. Only playable stadiums locally would be Da Butch, Memorial, The Rez and Lumberton. East Chambers and Hardin may be playable but parking and getting there would be problematic.

DannyShapiroBE got a reaction from dj in DCTF 22-5A Predictions - Do you agree?
Yeah, I covered that PAM-Vidor game last season and I agree PAM was a bit overwhelmed. I listed the PAM-PNG as one of the games to watch because it could very much be the game that decides who wins district.

DannyShapiroBE reacted to WOSgrad in Sources needed for story
While I agree that the timing of Danny's request, given the annual excitement about the return to practice for the 2017, may not have been the greatest in the world, he at least deserves the benefit of the doubt for attempting some research into the issue before taking to print on based on numbers and incidents having nothing to do with the area. As I told Danny, I don't know, and quite frankly I doubt, that he will get what he is looking for here as most, if not all, who frequent this forum are pretty heavily invested in their school's programs so this is not the place where he is likely to find someone who has decided to leave a football program.
But I have been wrong before and perhaps he will find someone who can flesh out a potential story of this issue. It is nothing new for a Enterprise sports reporters to seek out folks here who can give an insight to a story idea as Danny's former colleague, David Thompson, fished here on a regular basis. And there are times that such forays did provide the needed flesh for some of those stories.
I'll be looking to see what you can find, Danny.

DannyShapiroBE reacted to RoschonsBigBro in Roschon Johnson commits to The University of Texas
Yes
Lots of different factors contributed to this decision. Without saying much, he was only going to play in state or a nearby state. Key schools of interest had already taken a 19 QB. Get in where ya fit in.

Here is why you won't ever see the names of 21-5A players on lists such as these. They are in what I call the "media no man's land." Too far west for the Beaumont area media to cover, too far east for the Houston media to care.
You see, the Hearst papers (the Enterprise and the Chronicle) have split coverage in Southeast Texas (a reason why you no longer see Beaumont area schools followed in Chronicle articles). That line is right around Anahuac.
