It is my understanding that a lot of the kids that have not been offered a college scholarship or looking for a better offer are displayed so as to try to get these kids an offer from a college team..

He was coaching in 1961 when I was a senior. He was track coach and an assist. coach. Great man, my heart goes out to his family.

Seems like we hear this every year. I'm sure that after all these comments they will rework this list so everyone will be happy..

Wow, if we (Newton) had money no telling how good we would be. We are one of the poorest counties(school districts) in Texas. We are trying to upgrade to flush toilet restrooms. Our old blocking dummies are rusting out, need some new 55 gal. drums. With the unemployment rate extremely high in our county, there is little chance of passing a bond. Maybe some rich person will come alone and donate about a million for new turf. Then maybe we can make it back to state again.

The problem with coaching in 5a and 6a ball is that the larger cities(like the Houston area) have numerous 5a and 6a schools and the better players wind up going to a school that has a winning program. This leaves the smaller cities with only one or two schools at a disadvantage. This is why towns like WO-S and Newton can still compete.  Example, Katy has around 6 schools that are 6a, its amazing how this one school is heads above the other schools.   You could move Katy's coach to West Brook and Katy would still dominate. Are you could have one school like Allen with 6,380 kids. UIL has a problem. I don't think you will ever see a state championship in 5a or 6a in the triangle area again unless UIL changes things to a more equal playing field.
So, don't blame it all on the coaches.

So much for that perfect season record. Memorial did not even finish first in the tie breaker. So much for all the memorial trash talk. Eat your crow.

As for 2019. Newton varsity is loaded with sophomores (9). Tamauzia Brown and Darwin Barlow are two of the outstanding starters. They are two of the best players on Newton's team and they are outstanding players that some colleges are already looking at. Teams that Newton has played this year probably remember them.
PS. they also have 13 juniors coming back next year.

Tie breakers are usually agreed upon and set up by each district.
