Love this take. Glad they all played for us at one point and we all got to witness their amazing career

I think D Long in Coach Faircloth's system would own a lot of PN-G passing records and they might be so far out of reach that you would need to start a 7th grader to break them.  DL could read defenses in a split second and make any throw necessary...lasers, lobs, the short game, and the long game.  He was a complete passing QB.  Another PN-G QB that threw great long balls was RJ.  I don't think there was ever a PN-G QB who could throw the long ball like RJ...beautiful arc and touch.  Adam was gritty, tough as nails, and he could sling it around.  He was good at reading defenses, standing tough in the pocket, and making good throws.  I would take him in a heartbeat year in and year out.  It's like your kids...you love them all and you would not dare say one was better than the others (cough, cough...at least you would not say it out loud for anyone to hear).  Ha-ha.

Who is or was the greatest PN-G pass rusher?  DL/DE or OLB?  I've thought of a few names, but would be interested in the opinions of others.  Strattrax?  Rockets?  Others?

    Go Indians!

I never seen him play, but I have been told that Wilson Weber is by far the best LB to ever wear purple. That comes from men who are legends in this town, so I take their word. For me, Shawn Lang at LB. We have had a ton of insanely good book ends. So that’s a tough one.

Good discussion/debate between Strattrax and Rockets.  Good stuff.  I love them all and I am thrilled they wore purple and white.  Glad they are PN-G Indians.  But...Richy Ethridge called and said, here, hold my beer, I want in this discussion.  I'm the best of them all.  Never lost to Nederland or Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson or Port Arthur Lincoln, and I have more playoff wins than several of the QBs combined.  Before Richy grabbed his beer, he said, I played college ball and I need to get back to polishing my state championship trophy and ring.  Go Indians.  Peace.

No and I mean no problems on that. He has the hardware. Problem is I actually didn’t see him play. But if I did he would be my GOAT.

There are a ton of other factors that go into a football game that affect the outcome of it. A huge factor in those Nederland games was play calling, BF could not get past Neuman and he continued to get out coached in those prime time games. If you watched those games you would see that. As for college play level goes, all 4 of them got d1 offers. 1 ended up playing basketball. 1 turned to a running back. 1 is still young and we will have to wait and see but will most likely end up having to transfer to see any playing time. And 1 transferred to a passing D2 school and broke records. If you were to say which of those 4 had a better college quarterback career, who are you taking? To me it looks like only 1 ended up making it as a college quarterback.

If you going that route. D Long. A&M and Sam Houston. I have never even heard of the school you speak of. I couldn’t even tell you where it is. But maybe your right, maybe he’s the greatest ever. Maybe D2 is better competition. He graduated 6 years ago. So I have no idea how he is even playing. But it’s just an opinion. As I said I like the kid. End of story.

I understand that completely, Dustin Long with forever be the greatest and that is well deserved. But back to your original take saying Bost, RJ, Doty, were better Quarterbacks than Adam. RJ is different and I can understand him being above Adam because of what he can do with his legs is incomparable. What ever tough passes he couldn't make he more than made up for it with his legs. But if you are comparing playing Quarterback, between Adam, Doty, RJ, and Bost, I want Adam throwing my receivers the ball 10/10 times. I don't think there should even be a debate on it honestly.

I really go by quality wins, athletic ability and that ice water factor. Correct me if I’m wrong, but other than quality stats, no wins over Nederland. No deep playoff run, and no Willie Ray Smith award. This is actually a dumb debate, because he was a good QB. But All the QBs i mentioned had wins over Nederland. 2 won the Willie Ray. All of them went to a D1 school, 1 went to a SC game, some had multiple playoff wins. So it’s just my opinion. I do believe Adam had quality stats, and if I’m correct had a payoff win against Dayton when they went for 2. So I guess If stats and a quality win is what one likes, so be it. I think the other 3 had a total of 7 wins against Nederland. One was an All American. One went to a SC and a D1 school. And the other 2 went to D1 schools as well. Once again nothing against any of them. Just my opinion. Don’t quote me on the stats and wins and all because it’s off the top of my head.

IMO I still have to agree with Stattrax & pngindiansfootball.com & go with D. Long as the best composure in the pocket, accuracy, poise, reading the defense, making the right decision, team leading, winning big games passing QB in Indian history.

It’s really not even a comparison. I try snd keep it cordial, but it’s apples to oranges. I’m glad Adam is doing well. But it’s a huge drop off from D1….. D Long had it all. Poise, touch, mindset, ice water in his veins. And has hardware to prove it. Watching him for 3 years was amazing. Watching him week to week, reading defenses, calling plays, taking over games. During a time you didn’t have a coach telling you what to run after the defense set up from the sidelines. Taking nothing away from anyone, but other than RJ….. not much of a debate. That’s just my opinion. But hell, anyone who knows football and puts the Pom poms up knows you don’t take Romo over Stabaucn or Aikman.

What I've noticed about PNG lately is that whatever you see in quarter one is usually what you're going to see in quarter four? Good thing about that this week is PNG is probably going to move the ball on Montgomery with relative ease. It's going to be about playing clean, finishing drives and getting three or four crucial stops on defense. NDNation already pointed out that Lake Creek dropped 45 on them a couple of weeks ago and they just beat a mediocre Nac team by 14 where I think PNG would've blown them out. Oddly enough this may be one of the few times where BF loading up the offense with the athletes may be more beneficial to PNG's chances of winning than spreading them out since there's not much chance of them stopping Montgomery anyway.

Agreed. I’m not putting money on this one…..

I understand your take and see where you are coming from. Valuing the mobility of the Qb very high. I agree it is a valuable ability to have especially at the high school level. I would say Bost and RJ definitely open up the offense with there legs, making a more dynamic offense than with a pure passer like Adam. But if I am talking composure in the pocket, poise, accuracy, throwing the best ball, reading the defense and making the right decision, I am taking A-mo without question. He does that better than anyone and is the definition of a pure pocket passer. If I want someone throwing the ball, I'm choosing Adam, no one does it better than him. He is going to be able to make throws that no one else on your list would be able to make because of his ability. Hahah I would even go to say if he was blessed with the build and stature of Bost, RJ, Doty or Long, we would all be watching him play on Sunday.

I do not dispute whatever your opinion is.  I would think that playing D1, would show the athletic ability. And I would think reading a defense would be part of that. I’m not sure of Adans career, he grauduated 6 years ago, if he is still playing college ball, that’s fantastic. I’m glad he finally got the opportunity. My opinion is different for yours, and both are valid. Hopefully you seen D Long play. He called his own plays in the clutch, and in those days a head coach wasn’t sending in plays. I believe that is why. He set records at A&M and Sam Houston. Once again, just my opinion, different era, different football.

  8. To answer all the questions….

I did not start any type of rumor. I basically said, with all the pissing and moaning, I’m not exactly a BF lover, but if you for one instance think a Joe Dale Cary type could come in, if Bf ever left and do what BF has done, you are absolutely out of your mind. I gave mad props to what Bf has done. At times has he failed? Yes…. At times has he overachieved? Yes… he has grown up in front of our eyes as a coach. People on this board know me, and know my credibility. Am I right all the time? No…. Most? Yes…. Do I know football? Don’t bet against me…. Do I bleed purple? Damn right….. my opinions are created on my years of football. I go back to watching Deny Duhon. I have seen many come and go. Am I a rah rah? Nope… Do I speak the truth? Yep….. as for the QB debate, my opinion is just that. If I had one to choose from, I would take who I would take. As for Adam, great kid. Love him to death, coached him in junior league, friends with his dad. Just not my choice. I want ice water in the veins, a cannon, and mobility. Just my preference, no secret I take D Long as my guy, and that’s tough because RJ is a great kid, his family is good friends. He’s coachable and takes words to heart. I gave him advice when he left for UT and he did exactly what my advice was. So it doesn’t make me right or wrong,  it is simply my opinion. None of this was in my first post, simply because I gave credit to BF. I’m not into pre madonnas….. And trust me BF isn’t either. He plays to win. That’s how he keeps a job. So if anyone is wishing for different….. the grass isn’t always greener. But as I stated just giving the man props. I only know Tecmo Bowl, and maybe I overstepped my boundaries. Just thought he did a great job this year, with his hands tied in keep positions.  @prepballfan my post was how you took it. Positive towards BF. And I’m glad you laid out numbers. I have never made a more positive post in my days on this sight. I’m amazed how some of you, have no clue to what you are speaking of, yet want to make accusations, and it’s all false. Maybe y’all are all Dallas Cowboy fans. Maybe you would take Romo… he has great stats….. he wouldn’t make my top 3…… just my opinion based on Tecmo Bowl….. peace ☮️ fellas.

  9. I want to say this. While I still can…

I have not always been a super big supporter of BF. I knew we needed change, and maybe because he was an outsider, I didn’t give him the Danny Malone chance. Malone had fire and was US from day one. I felt at first BF was not US. But if you look at the big picture, I think he has done a good job overall. I have seen some of the most exciting games under his coaching, as well as some of the most disappointing. But this year is an example of putting together a season that we overachieved. He has had his struggles with Nederland. But so did Matt. He has has 3 of the best QBs in our history, Doty, RJ, and Bost, and has made us respectable. He has taken kids like Morse, and Miller, and made them into good HIgh School quarterbacks. You hear about our defense, but if you look at demographics, we just do not have the talent, to be great on both sides. PAM and Lumberton moving down has hurt both us and Nederland with move ins. And our area is landlocked, and what used to be prime jobs, is mainly contractor jobs, folks moving in and out. Drive around and see all the trailer parks filled up. I think his goal was build a facility and get some guys in. But the indoor facility was shot down. We had turf first, but now everyone has it. So we are not on a higher level as far as facilities  go. What I will say, is that he has won games we should not have one. Kept us in games we should not have been in, and lost games we should have one. But that’s the life of a coach. Overall he has done a great job. He will leave as the winningest coach in our history. And he made us relevant on several occasions. I think his 2 best coaching feats, was a loss to Manvel, which his play calling kept us in a game we had no business being in. And the win against WOS, that broke a long drought. A guy like BF will be hard to replace, simply because we are not the talent pool, booming area we once was. So if I was to rate him, as of today, he would get an A………. Anyone can read this and take it how you want. But I think we have been lucky to have a guy who made us a good offensive team, and made us relevant at times. Times change, people change, and high school football changes. The Todd Dodges of the world are hard to come by. I think the key, is to take ideas from the Dodges of the world, advance them, and keep Texas High School football relevant. Dynasty’s come and go, but the Friday night lights will always be a part of Texas.

If PNG had any kind of defense you could almost pick them in this game. Montgomery wants to hand it off 40+ times on you but if PNG can get plus performance from their front seven they might be in business. IMO though, that scheme PNG runs isn’t conducive to their personnel. It sets up perfectly for Washington to have a 35 for 275+ and 5td day.

I agree. 5 man front, safety in the box and try and stop the run. Man up and make them pass if we can stop the run.but as you said we are.more of a bend don’t break style, the issue is we break for 50 a game. It’s all about adjustments and scheme. If we can’t stop the run it will be a long night. Honestly we are going to need a great game. But it is possible. The only game I get like we did not have a chance was with Crosby. However that beat down might have given the coaches and kids some idea of what not to do. I do think our district was a little better than some believe. When you have a team like Crosby, it helps to see the truth. I think Crosby would put up a 50 burger on Montgomery, so there is some type of hope. If we can keep the RB under 200 yards and not turn the ball over, I give us a shot. In the end, I didn’t expect us to get in the playoffs, much less out of round 1. We have had a little luck on our side. Maybe that trend will keep going.

Don’t worry about the defensive statistics in this one, first team to 50 wins. PNG is going to be severely tested at the line of scrimmage this game. Jalen Washington is sitting just shy of 2,000 rushing yards and he has a solid o-line to run behind. PNG needs to play clean offensively and they’ll need to have their best tackling game of the season or those Montgomery backs will make it a slow and painful transition to basketball season.

Watch his HUDL highlights. Pretty good assessment above. If we play clean offensively we have a fighters chance. It’s apparent, the knock on our offense is being pressure and the QB struggles. I’m not sure how good defensively Montgomery is, but we will need a shootout to win. They have a pretty stout OLine and Washington can move. Just from what I watched, they do not appear to be a Crosby, so there is a fighting chance. I said going into the Crosby game we would get smoked, and we did. But I think if we have a good plan, we can pull the upset in this one. IMO, in the games we have lost, other than Crosby, we have made mental mistakes, pressure situations, we have crumbled. If we can get better QB play in those situations, we can make a game of it. Just my 2 cents.

  12. Crosby by a mile on best team in the district. I have said it all year, Nederland wasn’t that great. We imploded, but they earned it against us. For the people who think Nederland can do better without Monte, y’all are crazy. Nederland comes to play every night. They had one star player and almost made it to the dance. Nederland is suffering from PA Memorial being good, and you don’t see the transfers like Washington anymore. Just my opinion.

  13. I really don’t have words. He will say that he ran a play and the success percentage was this or that. I know if it was Tecmo Bowl, I would have pounded the rock 4 times. And then went for 2. But he’s the coach, and he has to make the calls. Credit to the Indians for being in a game everyone, including myself counted them out. Tough loss. But it is what it is.  Kudos to the kids on the field. Played hard and gave a heck of an effort!!
