Goblin got a reaction from Cougar14.2 in Last 100 Games
I did a little research and made a list of records for the last 100 games played and included every 11-man UIL team in districts which include SETX teams as posted in the 2014 end of the year standings 1A through 6A.  Teams that played 100 games in the least amount of time were how the tiebreaks were made.  This is a lot of teams from a lot of classifications and there are sure to be some errors so let me know and I will correct them.  I realize people will have their arguments on why such and such is unfair.  I'm not saying this is a definitive ranking by any means but it's something that's interesting and open for discussion.  This gives a definite advantage to teams that have done well in the playoffs consistently recently (5 of the top 7 played in State Championship games, 7 of the top 9 played in State Semifinal games) but yes it does penalize for having tougher schedules that result in early season losses which in the long run could be very helpful later on.  Despite that the usual suspects seem to have remained at the top (WOS has three 3-loss seasons and a 4-loss season included here and Newton lost 4 games in 2008, 2010 and 2014).  I actually kind of like the results and a few teams are poised to jump significantly if they live up to the hype set up for them in 2015 (Crosby, Jasper and Hardin-Jefferson for sure). What elite teams did your favorite team lose to?  What teams should your team have beaten?  What was your fave teams biggest win?  Four teams have not been around long enough to hit the 100 games played mark so they were ranked by their winning percentage from the games they did play (Kingwood Park, Goose Creek Memorial, New Caney Porter and Anderson-Shiro).  100 was somewhat of an arbitrary number chosen although if a team were to go 16-0 for 6 seasons straight (which has never happened) they would have played 96 games so at the very minimum it takes into account the last 7 seasons for every team.  It also makes it very easy to get a winning percentage as the total wins equals the winning percentage.

I think you have it backwards...  PNG wasn't the best team WOS could find to play.  WOS is 9-1 against PNG dating back to 1997 if you want to consider that a "rivalry" and there's a reason they refused to play us after we dropped to 3A and held a 7 game winning streak against them.  Not being good enough wasn't the reason. WOS lost to a school with half their enrollment last year in Newton but learned from it.  If stooping to play a smaller school is so embarrassing to SETX 5A teams then their loss. Until any team from 22-5A can win a Bi-District game they should probably do something different. As for Crosby and Dayton... they need to beat WOS at least once before anything can be said about that and neither has.  No reason to make excuses for WOS. WOS is fine as always.

Currently 0-9 playing a non-district game next week against KIPP to try to prevent being the first 0-10 team to ever make the playoffs.

    Scarborough vs WOS (8-2) Bi-District ~11/14

They've currently lost 56 games in a row, have scored 14 points in the first half in 9 games combined before every team pulled their starters.  It seems more of a humiliation than an honor.

    Just saying...

HJ has scored 38 pts in 10 years combined against WOS...  I'm not saying you can't do it but you gotta prove yourself to get any credibility.  I have yet to hear what is SO dramatically improved this year to make me think you will win.  We've beaten the spread against every common opponent we've played last year and this year except for LCM. Good luck!

Goblin got a reaction from skipper in how deep will OF-HJ-WO-S go in the playoffs
WOS has made the Quarterfinals the last 3 years in a row losing to Coldspring (2011), State Champs Navasota (2012), and then State Champs Carthage (2013) which was 4 rounds into the playoffs all three years.  WOS should make 3rd round at the very minimum in 2014 which is when they'd come up against either LaGrange or LaMarque and then the other one in the Quarters unless H-J surprises me.  After that it's a straight shot to the State Finals.  Someone is gonna have to beat both LaGrange AND LaMarque I'm predicting to get out of Region III which will be a tough feat but definitely possible.

All top 3 in 9-4A DII should easily make 2nd round with #4 having to play LaMarque.

Area round the #3 will most definitely meet LaGrange which I predict is gonna depend on the HF - OF game.
WOS/HJ will most likely face both tough Wharton/Bellville depending on the side of the bracket each are on but both should be favorites over whomever they play.

Regional round is gonna be WOS, LaGrange, H-J, LaMarque in my opinion right now... and it doesn't get easier after that.

Hopefully one of us can make it to Round 4.

So in answer to your question about how many 3rd round playoff games we've won in the past 5 years.... that would be 3 in a row.

9-4A D2 WOS, HJ and either OF or HF get byes essentially against HISD teams including what will be an 0-10 Scarborough team.  4th place will have the pleasure of meeting LaMarque in the first round.

Oh you guys are still funny. A school that now really actually has 6A enrollment, ranked in the Top 10 almost gets beat by a team a third their size.   This isn't 7 on 7.  They weren't playing anyone on both sides and had a ton of depth.  They are the ones that need to be worried, not WOS.

I'm not understanding what the truth is?  WOS has made the Quarterfinals 3 years in a row coming up against a once in a lifetime State Champ Navasota and held State Champ Carthage to their closest game of the entire season last year in the only loss. I think that's an opinion not truth.

Yeah La Grange is it possibly...   Celina and Gilmer have no defense and they have to fight it out amongst themselves first.

But hey we just held a top 10 5A team 40 students away from being 6A to a 3 point game and were one play away from winning.  2000 vs 600 enrollment pretty much. Can only learn from it.  Better than what LaMarque has coming up with HISD.  Although would still like to see LaMarque again.

And 10th grader Jack did pretty damn well against a big 5A Defensive line coming at him all night.  Both teams had tons of negative yard plays.

It was Aldine MacArthur...  and it was 1987 and they were the #1 5A team in the state and to this day it's still the only time a 4A team knocked off a #1 5A team in Texas. We won 6-3.  And it was week 2.  We beat Aldine Nimitz 7-6 in week 1.
