Woodville has my respect. They are going to take this district easily. As far as them being a top 10 team in the state, Idk. I think they need to do a little more proving of themselves on a statewide level before giving them that kind of distinction. Like, advancing beyond the 3rd round of the playoffs...or maybe even playing (and beating) higher profile teams. I know Kirbyville was fielding some very good teams for several years in a row, but we didn't start getting that kind of respect till we starting beating teams like WO-S, Newton, Carthage, etc...and were also making runs to the state championship. We had to start somewhere though. Woodville does too. Idk if they'd compete with some of the other top 3A teams, but I do know they will beat everybody in this district. After that, let's wait and see what they do in the playoffs.

I think it'll be a good game, but I think the Cats will be taking it by 10. Even in a horribly down yr, and even with all the dark clouds hanging over Kirbyville, we still have the athletes to pull out some wins. Final 38-28.

1930's??? Cmon man!
The title of this thread says "...of all time." Teams from the 30's apply.

This year kinda reminds me of the 2011 season. We had just lost Alvarez and W.T. and had a huge graduating class leave us. I had no clue what to expect, and the same goes for this year. I honestly don't know what to expect. I think we're in trouble in this game if I'm being honest, but I also know we're gonna give 'em all we can. I'll be there. I've just been missing football.

There are a LOT of dark clouds hanging over Kirbyville this yr. Soooo much has happened...on and off the field...that no doubt will factor into how well the team does. So I'm not going to make any predictions on how many wins/losses we're gonna end up with. I'm just gonna go support them. My daughter is a freshman and will be marching at halftime just like her two older sisters did for 8 out of the last 9 yrs, and I'm going to be there to see her too. It's Texas high school football. Anything can and does happen and I'm freaking excited to watch it all... from the first kickoff to the last second ticking off. The smells, the sounds, the sights, the everything...let's get it started. This yr I think we know that all roads for a district title will have to go through Woodville. But you know what...you gotta go through the town with a big black eye right now too. I love football and I love my Wildcats.

Congratulations to Woodville. No matter how it ended up, yall made some noise this yr. I for one was very impressed. My hats off to you for an awesome season.

Man I love how so many people are dismissing Woodville in this game. That's ok. I think a lot of eyes will be opened come late Fri night. Woodville by 2 td's.

Crickets...?
This thread was started at 8:54 and less than 45 mins later you think we're scared to talk? You will never hear crickets in place of Wildcat fans. Even when the odds are against us we will fight, and you will hear us. We're not supposed to win this game. See if we don't show up and make noise anyway.

No, actually beat the snot out of them!! But there is one player who plays dirty and is being investigated. He has intentionally hurt several players for a couple of yrs now. I know football is hard hitting...and you take chances playing. But when a particular player targets opponents and gets away with it...it has to stop! Even NFL players get fined thousands and suspended. So for a player at this level to already do this and have this reputation....pretty disgusting for him and the team!
You said you hate Kirbyville because 'they' play dirty, yet here you mention one player. So should we judge all Woodville fans based on.....you? Lord I hope not.

I hope Hempstead wins!!!
I don'tknow who your team is, but apparently Kirbyville has taken you to the cleaners enough to where you'd say we 'play dirty'. Just fyi...hard hitting, solid football that brings home a W isn't playing dirty, it's playing football. Quit hating. Or better yet, quit whining.

You can take all that comparing common opponents and throw it out the door, it means nothing. You haven't been paying attention to any football games in our area.
It means nothing because it doesn't fall in your favor. If it was reversed you'd be giving it credit. That's a fact. You're all talk. And I'm not sure if YOU even know what you mean by your last sentence . lol.. Lord knows nobody else does.

I don't have any problems talking trash and will add my 2 cents in here...Woodville WOULD have beaten Newton this year. I've seen them both play and Woodville was much more disciplined on both sides of the ball. And if you buy into that whole common opponents thing, Newton beat us (Kirbyville) by 27, Woodville beat us by 32. Plus Newton beat Corrigan-Camden 43-8. Woodville thrashed them 51-0. Eagleswoodville#1, you gotta throw that political correctness out the window sometimes and back your boys. Yall got it together and would have given Newton a loss this yr. All these Newton folk can only talk and believe me, they're secretly glad yall weren't on their schedule.

The standings you have listed are incorrect. It's in this order..
1. Woodville
2. Coldspring
3. Kirbyville
4. Buna

Great game. Ok so to the best of my knowledge, here's the final district standings..
Woodville beat everybody so with a 6-0 district mark, they're the champs.
Coldspring, Kirbyville and Buna tied for the #2, #3 & #4 spots with identical 4-2 district marks. The tie breaker is based on win/loss margins in the games between these 3 teams.
Coldspring beat Kirbyville by 12, and lost to Buna by 5, so with a +7 margin, they're #2.
Kirbyville beat Buna by 9 and lost to Coldspring by 12, which puts them at a -3 and the #3 spot.
Buna beat Coldspring by 5 but lost to Kirbyville by 9 so they're at -4, and take the #4 spot.

Is this the final order for playoff seeding?
Woodville
Coldsprings
Buna
Kirbyville
Wrong district. These teams are 11-3A div. I, not 12. And Kirbyville is #3, Buna #4.

Kirbyville is having an off year. That's why we've been quiet. lol.. But for anyone interested, tonight is actually a pretty big game for both teams. If we win tonight by 20 or more, we take 2nd place in district. A win by 9 or more, but less than 20, gives us 3rd place. A loss, or win by less than 9 and we're 4th.

Woodville takes this one. It's well deserved. Good luck Eagles the rest of the way out on what has been an amazing year for your program. Yall have earned this one. Enjoy it.

Here is how I figured it. If Woodville and Kirbyville win. That will force a 3 way tie for 2nd with Coldspring, Buna and Kirbyville all being at 4-2. All teams will have beaten each other once and lost to each other. Now under the points, Coldspring currently sits at +7 (12 point win over Kirbyville, 5 point loss to Buna), Buna sits at +5 (5 point win over Coldspring) and Kirbyville at -12 (12 point loss to Coldspring). You are correct that by the margins of victory if Kirbyville beats Buna by 20 or more that they can claim the #2 seed as they would sit at +8, Coldspring +7 and Buna -15 and I need to edit mine to reflect that.
I must confess, though, that I have not seen the scenario in which a Kirbyville win by 12 would get them the #2 seed. If you could pm me with those calculations, I would appreciate it.
I'm with you actually. It's always been my understanding that the win margin combined with the loss margin of the teams in the 3 way tie was what decided who got what. But I was commenting on another topic on here and someone (I can't remember who) commented they heard it was new that the tie breakers were only going to consider the win margins, not the losses. And so since CS had won by 12, that would put us needing to win by more than 12. I'm pretty sure though that win AND loss margins count.

I'm proud of our boys for pulling it out. But, dang. This was a very frustrating game to watch. I don't mind close games. In fact, they're awesome....IF they're close because of two solid, evenly matched teams playing great football. But this was sloppy. There were MANY mistakes and MANY penalties from both teams, on both sides of the ball. We have got to get our act together if we're ever going to start being a threat again.
