  1. I wouldn't wish for any school in the state to go through what Kirbyville has had to go through in the last yr +, both on and off the field. But I can tell you this, if they had....then there would be a lot less disrespect being thrown at us. Like someone said earlier^^, I think a lot of folks are sore from what Kirbyville has done to them on the football field in the past and they're taking this chance to kick us while we're down. I've noticed one very glaring thing though so far....we're getting no disrespect from anyone in Newton. They are going to dismantle us this Friday, but the Newton backers are being very very classy in how they handle it. Thank you. I'll be there cheering my team on no matter what cause....unlike some other teams....we weren't afraid to play the #1 team in the state/nation.

  2. This has happened to every single high school football program at some point when experiencing successful seasons. All you gotta do is look at the halftime score. Woodville was dominating. In complete control at 35-6. If they'd come out with the same mentality they had starting the game, they'd won 60-6...or worse. As it was though, they got over-confident, let their guard down, and eased up. This 'comeback' Kountze mounted is nothing to be concerned about. I'm very very absolutely 100% sure that Woodville will not be making the same mistake when facing tougher opponents. They will play 4 full qtrs, not 2, and they'll be just fine.

But they are not.  They are 2 and 4 and should be 2 and 5 if no storm.  You are correct they are not as good as thought but it's not due to lack of athletes.  Time will expose the truth.

I disagree. We were 2-4 when you posted this and would most likely have been 3-4 if not for the storm. Our loss to EC would not have happened, but yes we would have lost to Newton. We lost the Orangefield game to the storm also and I believe a strong argument could be made that we would've beaten them. I do 100% agree though that this is NOT a player or talent issue. It goes way above and beyond that. In fact, if it wasn't for the storm I believe we would have been 4-4 right now (after beating Warren last night), tapping on the door of making the playoffs...and that's an amazing feat considering the fact we weren't even expected to compete in any game. If that doesn't show we do have talent then I don't know what does. If our program hadn't been gutted, we had the players to compete with anybody.

Kirbyville just doesn’t have a very good football team... a few athletes but besides that, just not an all around good football team

Aaaaand here he is again. Anyone that wants to comment on this (or any) thread...dismiss this Tigerfan24. He's trolling all other threads just trying to get responses to his absurd comments. He's not worth your time.

Love the optimism!  Haha!  Enjoy your last district win this week...

You're pathetic. Kirbyville went through some horrible things this year as a town that crippled us and we're trying to recover from it. And all you can do is try to stomp on us while we're down. You want honesty? I'd be much more proud to tell people I'm from Kirbyville than to tell people I knew you.

  6. Woodville owns this district right now. Beyond that, I see CS, Buna, Trinity and Kirbyville slugging it out for the remaining 3 spots. Trinity was counted out, until this past Fri when they dismantled a team that fought to the end in a game with Kirbyville. They deserve to be mentioned as a contender.

Nobody is as dominant in this district as Woodville is right now, but other than that....spots 2, 3 and 4 are very much open. I see some pretty good games coming up.

What does a starting RB have anything to do with giving up 48 in the second half? They scored just as many in the last three quarters without him as they did in the first with him....

I think he's a star on their defense as well. I only counted about 17 or 18 kids suited out on Kountze's sideline so losing one...especially a key player... will affect both sides of the ball.

Nice attempt at humor.  Cowardly move by the pussycats.  I think High Island is open that week.

If you think it was a cowardly move then you are very ignorant when it comes to football. Kirbyville and Newton are in two VERY different places right now. Newton needs to be scheduling tougher opponents than what Kirbyville can offer at the moment, and Kirbyville needs to rebuild. So nothing could really be gained by either team by playing in the next couple of years. So move on oh ignorant one. Leave the real football talk for the grown ups who are above doing nothing more than stirring the pot.
