2.
That "It's Jack's if he wants it"........why would Jasper want Alvarez?
I'm just speculating that some people in Jasper want him cuz....  Maybe to win some games... Advance far in the playoffs... Community knows him already... Know what they're getting... He was the OC there before...   Better question is why you think Jasper "wouldn't want him."

The Sooners also run it... and TCU...  It's good misdirection and if a D loads up on the run then QB can check off to a one on one passing situation with two split ends.  Just another way to move the ball... I think it's good stuff!
which is why you are not a coach and on here talking smack.  Its too predicitable and easy to cover.  Will not work consistantly.
The formation TCU runs is a shotgun with 3 backs surrounding him their are no split ends.
You are right... but TCU also run with two split ends... as does Oklahoma State and Oklahoma...  OSU calls it their DIAMOND formation... OU calls it "BACKS"...    I'm not saying it's the Wishbone in the gun...  BUT you can run the triple option out of the DIAMOND... zone read with the pistol back and one of the half backs as a pitch back  ...  That makes three which is triple option.  Pretty simple Coug...   OKLAHOMA STATE was the top scoring offense in the nation... A lot of big plays with the DIAMOND which is a pistol back and two half backs... split ends or no split ends.
 4. DECORIAN SMITH #5  He will be a good one too!  He will be a weapon on offense!!!

 6. Thomas played awesome!  How did Texas schools let him escape outside our borders?
 7.
Sophomore Keiandre Haywood was sporting #3 at running back position this past season. Haywood will take over at the QB position next year. Cant wait to see how this speedy young man perform.
Your speculation is interesting but your facts are a little twisted.  Actually Haywood was sporting #2 this past season while #3 was being sported by Ervine.  I do think Haywood has played a little QB as a freshman but they also have the Vanya kid who is a QB and a real thrower... he was #15 and the all-district TE last season.
 8.
i would never count out kirbyville though. many times they were "going to be bad". like when we got thrown in district with silsbee, wo-s, etc. picked at the bottom of the district and we saw what happened. more than 3 good years too. '10- 3rd round 3A '09- state 2A '08- state 2A '07- 3rd round 3A '06- 2nd round 3A '05- 3rd round 3A '04- 3rd round 3A
You're so right!  The move in 2006 and 2007 to the 3A district with Jasper, Silsbee, WOS, Bridge City was to signal the end of playoff football for Kirbyville.  I remember the Kirbyville "doomsday" talk by the majority of people in SE Texas even the Kirbyville natives weren't so sure.  I remember one player who would have no talk of "doomsday" for Kirbyville football... PIERCE "Deuce" RHODES!
 9.

Hey Dawg 4 life...same goes with Jasper. Yall are blessed with talent every year, but under achieve as always. As for yall winning the series thats been well over 3 or 4 decades ago. Lets talk about whats happening in this generation. I know yall glad we losing some key players this year, but still have Jacko, Irvine, Haywood, Brooks and Smith who will be packing the rock next year. IMO Kirbyvillle will still be dangerous  next year so watch out.
:D  so u say we always under achieve uh? that what u call it when a program is in  the top ten in wins and playoff appearances in not only its classification but also any 11 man classification level out the approx. 1400 + schools in the state.  wow!  and my friend u would like to think that the series record is decades old but those numbers come from right here off setx sports and is up to date and very much so our generation. and yes yall have some talented players coming back next year........lets see if they under achieve has much as the cats have the past 3 seasons being as loaded with talent has they have b een.  is not even making it to reg 3 finals an underachievement ....for yall? but good luck to u Cats in 2011
I think what they mean about the Jasper program is that JASPER used to laugh and look down their nose at Kirbyville and would beat them like a drum.  But when the tide turned in 2004 with K'ville's victory and the numerous victories over the Dogs the past few years... well, now Jasper is now trying to get up to Kirbyville's level even though Kirbyville still has just over 400 kids in school... Beating Kirbyville means success now for Jasper where before it was just a given that Jasper would beat lowly Kirbyville.
 10. Athens can throw the ball especially if Coldspring gives one on one all night like they did Kirbvyille.  Athens can run the ball... QB is very athletic and he will get loose.  Coldspring has a punishing run game and with their formations and quick snaps and tough running by #24 and blazing speed by #1 I say this game could reach the 30s.  Athens can and will score in the air and their QB will bust an option or two.  But I will give the nod to Bryan Barbay and the boys in the end:  Trojans 36  Athens 32 Go Trojans! The Jaws theme will be playing all night!
 11.
Congrats to the Cats on their win. I would love to see what they could do if they played all four quarters.
There you go.  You couldn't resist.  Game was a blowout at half.  It was over.  Didn't take four quarters.  Regular season West Orange game... they played four quarters.
 12.

We should run on them all night, and we need the secondary to really step up in this one...cucancic and jacko ;)
Cucancic got Maxprep/Airforce player of the week for is efforts in the Center game. Congrats to Caleb
He must have been playing with some "fire" after halftime huh 68?
 13.
I am glad that I am not the only one! We all love to brag on the Cats and nobody else better talk about them but the truth is they lack any killer instinct. They have been coached to play great football and at the same time coached to be soft. Hooks and Barbay would never take it easy on us or anyone else. Week after week we treat our opponants like we dont want to hurt their little feelings and then when we get into a real fight we expect the same. Well nobody else is worried about Kirbyville's self esteem so we get whipped. They have all the tools but IMO the modern everybody is a winner, everybody gets a trophy, lets swap spit after the game mentality is never going to win a championship. Pull the starters when you have a big lead. Ford should have never played a down after he got what he needed Friday. But when Center came out after halftime they were fired up like they were up by 21. The Cats half troted out and their play after that looked horrible. Yes the play makers did what they always do but as a whole they did not look good and they did not play with heart. Do they even know that they don't get in trouble for shutting someone out? Alverez should be blowing a gasket when they have them on 4th and 15 and let them get the first down.  If he does not get fired up then why would the boys? If thats not his style he better delegate it to someone because you are not going all the way without heart. Sorry I have to vent here but you can bet all of the teams from here out fought for a spot and if the wildcats don't learn to play all four quarters its gonna be a short run in the playoffs. I believe this team has what it takes and they can do it but the fans have to show fire, expect the boys to play with fire and the coaches have to demand some fire or we just need to step aside and let a team that really wants it take our spot.
You need to take the plastic bag off your head.  The lack of oxygen is making you look really idiotic.  Demand fire?  The Cats just blew through their district and the regular season.  They scored 60 twice and 70 once in the last three weeks.  They may have gotten bored.  You're a spoiled Kirbyville fan.  Kirbyville used to get beat 64 to 14 and now Kirbyville wins by at least that margin in all of their district games and you say they're not showing enough fire!  LOL! Guess that's a good thing.
 14.
I know it was hunnington but it was great to see jasper play the way they did tonight..it reminds me of 03,04,05 when we could score at will on anyone we played, the D played hungry and the O played fast...I will be the first to say good job coaches..and players of course..
If you know it was huntington then why would you even make a comment that it reminded you have the glory years.  IT WAS HUNTINGTON!!!

 16.
Ive seen the Kirbyville coaching first hand and let me tell its awful. The boys will have to do it on shear talent and will because the coaching is not there. Ive seen better coaching at the tee ball level . You dont call kids out and embarrass them on the field like he does. Need new baseball coaches here in kirbyville
Cats 10  Horns 5 Poor coaching last night, looks like. Kids played great and the coach called an aggressive game. Catcher did a great job behind the plate and at the plate. Tyler D. owned the hill. Jones great plays at 3rd. Everybody hit the ball. Fun game to watch from a fan's perspective! The only baseball thing in Kirbyville that needs an overhaul is the rooty poot little league program. JMO

Everyone makes mistakes and i guarantee from how ive seen holden play and practice that him quiting is not a mistake. Sure highschool helps you get scholarships but in a little town like Kirbyville its hard to get noticed. So i respect Holden on his decision.
I'm putting the kid aside.  That part is over.  He's a good kid.  I'm leaving him out of it never to be brought up again. BUT NOW I'M TURNING MY ATTENTION TO YOU SLUGGER AND HERE IS MY QUESTION:  You believe it is okay to quit when the going gets tough?  You don't believe in the statement "When the going gets tough, the tough get going."  Correct?  You advocate quitting when you don't get your way or if you get some negative feedback.  If you get yelled at by a superior because they're trying to make you better.  You need to be coddled and have your self-esteem stroked.  You don't believe in being tough on kids so they can advance through the tough times when they arise.  Poor, poor me.  Don't pick on me.  I can't take it.  That's your philosphy, correct?

I know Holden.  He is an exceptional young man.  Yes, he is a good ball player.  But more importantly, he is an incredible young man.  I know the story on his leaving, but will not post it here. I think it is pathetic to question the mental toughness of a 16 year old kid on a blog like this.  You should be ashamed of yourself.  But let me tell you about Holden.  He is incredibly tough.  I have had the honor of playing against him and having him play for us this past Fall on Gladiators.  Holden has had many games where he is bordering on heat exhaustion.  He plays hard to the point of vomiting during the game.  The coach recognizes he is experiencing heat exhaustion and pulls him from the game.  Holden begs to go back in to help his team.  At practice, the kid works his tail off.  DO NOT QUESTION THE MENTAL TOUGHNESS OF HOLDEN.  You will only embarrass yourself.  He is a class act on the field and off. Jackhammer, how dare you question the integrity of a young man, 16 years old, on a public blog like this one...especially when it is Holden Holsemback.  He is a class act!!  Administrator, is this really what this blog is about?  Ripping a 16 year old kid who is working hard to make himself better?  There are other circumstances at work here.  Keep an eye on this team.  You will see it is not a player, but a program at fault here.
Easy there.  No I'm not a coach.  Just a fan of Kirbyville High School athletics.  It was inferred earlier that this happened during a game unless I misconstrued what it said.  If I did, I apologize.  Maybe it was BEFORE a game or AFTER a game or maybe a practice.  Who knows?  Enlighten me.  You seem to know so much about the situation.  When answering the post with just a QUESTION not A PROCLAMATION, I was actually referring to people who quit things as a lack of mental toughness in the form of a question and I wasn't isolating a 16 year old boy.

 24. The Wildcat Express crew is checking into the rules about being used during a baseball game. The Wildcat Express usually hibernates during the Spring to get ready for football season but I hear it may be dusted off and polished and we may see or HEAR it at some upcoming baseball games!
