He is not against football at all to the contrary. Texas A&M had him on an offical visit last weekend. They would like for him to be an Aggie so they asked him to "Walk On" and didn't offer any type of scholly. I also heard Hazlewood was asked about by many small colleges but Hazlewood says he's done with football... he's looking forward to going to school as well as having more time to hog hunt, deer hunt, and fish!

Center isn't a job that a very good coach wants to take. They have a LONG way to go! Just don't see that happening. Could be wrong... Perception, perception, perception. Center is a diamond in the rough with the right leadership my friend. Kirbyville was far worse off a few years ago before they hired Alvarez than Center is today. But, you're right, it would be a challenge... but that is what a lot of coaches look for... the fun challenges.

What's the gene pool looking like at LCM? I know they had an undefeated 8th grade team that got championship rings from what I heard. They have any big time playmakers coming up through the ranks?

IMO with Newton and K-Ville, this could be one of the toughest 2A Districts in the state. Unless Kirbyville is moved back to 3A-II which is a strong possibility. What district would Kirbyville go to in 3A-II?

Word on the street is Aaron Hazlewood is returning to the diamond for the Cats! The year they made the 3A playoffs he was their leadoff hitter .400 and starting catching. This could make the Cats tougher to deal with in their drop down to 2A. Hazlewood leading off with Musgrove batting 3 hole??? What's the word in their district?

Who cares about numbers? It should be based on the area you are in! Alot of Schools care about Numbers and Depth! Coop, how many teams make the playoffs from each district????

The "masters" thing, as so many call it, is required because, for the FINAL time, the position is titled HC/AD......AD is an administrative position and requires a Masters' Degree. I see why those reporters are in the newspaper/blog business. Did anybody ever teach them how to dress when you go on TV? They all looked like slobs. They also have great faces for radio. What a bunch of crap. PNG wasnt good just because of Dustin Long. In 1999 that was just a good all around football team. They made it to the playoffs 4 or 5 out of the last eight seasons. I know Dustin was a great player but people need to stop saying they were good just because of him geezz people. You're saying they could have got to the state championship with their backup as their starter? Long was the cog in the wheel. It wasn't anybody else. He did have a good "supporting" cast to form their excellent TEAM. But, they were good because of DUSTIN LONG. You sound jealous of Dustin Long's reputation. Don't be a hater. 8)

Name one other program that has played in a state title game in the last ten years not named WO-S. Lumberton is just a powerhouse right? Playoffs twice in 50 years. Whoooop! You guys are so aggy. The p*n*s envy just oozes from everyone of your posts. State championship games in the last 10 years? Uh, let's see. Newton, Jasper, Kirbyville for starters. Think before you speak. All three of these teams would have smoked your "PNG History" this past year. What is your record SINCE the state championship LOSS to Stephenville? That would be sesons 2000 through 2008.

Superfly might think that was funny, but I thought it was boring. But I do agree with you on Michael Savage. We do have some common ground. I love Michael Savage except it's hard to get his show living out in the SE Texas sticks. AM radio stations don't fair to well unless it's 560AM. "Liberalism is a mental disorder." I hope Obama's policies fail by the way. Why would I want liberalism to suceed? You can have your opinion on Dr. Burns. I just know he was a great supporter of athletics and this is an athletic forum. Vidor is fortunate to have him. Just stating my opinion. You can have your own of course and if you want to complain about standardized testing and how the education system is in shambles go ahead. I'm not saying I don't agree with you on that case, but the Education system was in shambles way before Burns got to Kirbyville. He's not the scapegoat as you may think.

I saw this on channel 4 and six last night. Great PR for LCM and not so good PR for PNG. Both stations mentioned that freedom of information acts have been filed against PNG. It does not do PNG any good for trying to keep a "lips sealed" policy about their HC/AD job. But they aren't too worried about public perception. They are on a higher plane than most it would seem.
