The greatest day in all of sports.  My boys are out of school and no longer chasing the dream, but this time of year always get the nerves tingling.  It is someone’s senior year, and someone is coming off an injury with something to prove.  You have the rookie getting his first varsity start hoping to make an impact and the guy that has always been overlooked looking to turn heads.  The grass is mowed, the field chalked and striped, the mound is perfect.  The game cleats are shiny, and the batting gloves still have working Velcro.  Boys - enjoy every minute.  Parents - support ‘em and be there to watch.  This is it - it is here!  Opening day has arrived, and may 2019 be everything you hoped it would be.  Play Ball!!!!

Well, it’s that time of the year again so LET'S hear them.....  Remember, I am doing the same format as the previous years.  All homeruns mentioned are to be real game HR's NO scrimmages.  Please list: Players Name, Class, School, and number of HR's hit for that day (please use format of the example below).  I will keep the running total again.  Last year HR’s were up FINALLY.  So, was it, better hitting?  Or was it just a down year with the pitching?

 

2014 = 229 hr’s

2015 = 156 hr’s

2016 = 146 hr’s

2017 = 121 hr’s

2018 = 202 hr’s

It's the Opening Week of Texas High School Baseball and the Silsbee Tigers will travel to Mid-County to take on the 5A Nederland Bulldogs. The Bulldogs find themselves in the Pre-Season Poll at #27. The Tigers are a bit young this year and will need all the experience they can get before getting unto district play. This is the second year in a row these two teams have opened up the baseball season as the Bulldogs won the opener last year by a score of 5-0. The Tigers and Bulldogs have only played once sense 2007, but these two team where old district foes and you have to go way, way back when these two played in district. The JV will start at 4:30 and the Varsity will start at 7:00. It's the Tigers and Bulldogs to kick off the 2019 baseball season. TigerNation!!!

Glad you didn't take it seriously, I meant it in jest. It awesome to see local kids gets scholarships to any school

Nederland’s Kade Scott RB 2021 and Ricky Johnson DT 2022 both had a lot of talks with A&M and took visits in the fall.
Nederland to A&M pipeline is just getting started...

Reminds me of a funny Hefner story.  When he was a freshman, he showed up at his first Houston Defenders workout/tryout obviously having slept all the way to Houston.  Had bedhead and looked all of 12 years old in the face.   He jumped in the workouts and the kids were shooting elbow jumpers.  Air balled the first one, second one was off the backboard to the side of the rim.  The head coach, Aaron Harrison, looks at me and asks, “who the hell brought this kid?”  My son tells Hayden, “give ‘em a 360.”  Harrison says, “get out of here with that.”   We clear the floor and he does.  Then he tells him, “give ‘em the windmill.”  And he does.  
Our first session that spring was going to be in NYC.  Harrison looks at me and says, “we gotta get this kid.  We’ll take him down to Rucker Park and make a fortune placing dunk bets!”

Now that its over, i guess im done here too. Thanks for the fun discussion and heated debates. Thanks for the love and the hate. Im happy i can finally get rid of this png purple, wearing it 3 years straight can stain your skin lol and im always P.A. at heart. To the many friends i have made on here our story will continue as you know where to find me. To the others i bid you farewell and happy lives!
