North Shore’s attendance zone is extremely small for a school its size. Probably 90% of their kids live in a 3 mile x 3 mile box from HWY90 south to I-10 in between Uvalde and Federal. All of North Shore’s talent lives in that one small place too. The Galena Park and Jacinto City neighborhoods, which make up GP’s attendance zone, have a different demographic makeup. Can’t really split them up any other way, GP High is about the same distance from NS High as Crosby High is.

If BU goes something like 2-8 and finishes a four year stretch 10-30 they'll probably be playing teams the caliber of Alvin and Brazoswood again next alignment because no other reputable programs will respect them enough to pick up the phone. Even though BU isn't the best coached team I think PNG still gets a good look from them because of their athletic similarities to FB Marshall and Texas City who they'll see in district play.
One of the interesting stats I ran across the last couple of  years is the fact that BU has about a 30% larger football playing population than North Shore and their 4,500 student enrollment. At the very least even in 6A BU should be regularly competing for playoff spots. I think that goes to show how much culture plays into yearly results.

I wasn't keeping track as I was watching the film but on 26 dropbacks I don't think Eudy was sacked once? Remember Langley didn't play either. Eudy ended up throwing for 223 yards and that was with all those drops, easily goes for over 300 yards and 4tds if we could've hung on to it. They moved my nephew up from JV after he made some spectacular catches on King last week, maybe they intend on him helping us hang on to it on Friday's too.
To your point about the fronts though. Crosby rushed 28 times for 22 yards and CEK rushed 31 times for 409 yards. We were also 1-13 on 3rd downs and half of those were 3rd and 5 or shorter. I agree though, we clean up some of those first game miscues I think we're going to be more than fine. That being said, this new offense is extremely complicated vs what we've been used to running under Coach Riordan and Coach P. You see Coach P's first rattle out of the box they dropped 60 Friday night.

Feels like this game could be a defensive struggle. If Crosby can contain the little RB #24 I think we'll have decent day rushing the passer and defending in the secondary. Andre Feast is a beast but overall I think the FBM receiving core is a notch below CEK. O-line isn't anywhere near King's overall size but the tackles do go about 285 and 300lbs with one being the younger brother of of former A&M signee Barton Clement.
FBM runs a two QB system I'm assuming. #15 is the bigger kid and better runner while #6 is the better passer and less likely to pull it down. For example, #15 made all but a couple of FBM most explosive run plays against Klein while #6 was brought in on OT to throw the fade to Feast for the game-winning TD.
What is concerning is FBM on the defensive side of the ball. Looks like they either got a basketball player to come out of got a DT transfer during the offseason? They already had Koryn Randals who has D1 offers at one DT spot and now they add 6'9" 250lbs DeMarcus Johnson who of course had D1 offers too. They replaced stud linebacker Jordan Sample and is counterpart with a  couple of 6'2" sophomores who absolutely look like they have P5 ability. The secondary is typical FBM, Josh Lair, Caleb Chester and Isiah Williams all have multiple P5 offers. William Mitchell is their weak link in the secondary even though he's currently sitting on 11 D1 offers. Going to be a great test to see if we can scheme guys as open as we had them on CEK last week, hopefully we can catch it this time.

Interesting game, figured BH would’ve blown MW out. BH brought back all their weapons and still scored the same 28 points as last year while MW only brought back 10 starters from a 4th place team and played a closer game. Going to be interesting to see if they can hang on to that one point that keeps them out of 4th place this year?

Forgot to mention that last year’s 22-6A MVP was undoubtedly ruled eligible before the game? #1 was Darius James, CEK may be willing to forfeit some non-district games if necessary? You can see him on the plays below. Interesting to see if he makes the first district start too? After watching Longview and Timberview this week I don’t think we’ll see any other QB as athletic as him on the schedule. FBM played two QB’s in their opener against Klein and while both are solid I don’t think they’re the caliber Jordon Davis was last year.

Playing teams like Magnolia West in non-district does 0 for Crosby. They’re not going to be a factor to win anything and they don’t have the personnel or coaching that you look for to get you ready for the teams you have to beat late in the playoffs.

Playing teams where you know you’re out-manned tests your level of physicality, execution and fortitude. Are you physical enough to compete, can you execute within narrow margins and when it gets tough out there who really wants to play? Saw some physicality, King probably got more players hurt than we did. Executed light years better than last year, even with returning a QB responsible for 50 tds the year before, and the kids played hard to the last whistle.  In Crosby and CEK’s case we’re also seeing where we need to be in a few years to compete in district play.
SOC has been playing Duncanville in non-district the last four years. SOC has no chance but in those games SOC has become a little more and more competitive, it’s definitely helped them in later games during the season.

Kade Eudy dropping it in the bucket all night. Somehow we catch this one and walk away with no points after having 1st and 10 from the 15 and a TD drop on another perfectly thrown Eudy pass. Nice to see us make some plays on both sides of the ball against this caliber personnel. Particularly thought the o-line played better than expected considering Langley was out.

Since the scrimmages and non district games are the choosing of the previous head coach all we can do is debate what we think is better or worse. And since injuries play such a huge part of a teams success,we hope our depth can counter the loss of time the kids must spend in the trainers room. I think with the additions of transfers this year,Crosby will be OK in this department.
I had thought before reading about the loss of the Langley twins that the Cougars would beat King because of the lack of returnees at King.Their ability to reload put a damper on that. The QB,if a sophomore, will be a good QB in the future.I received an emergency call and had to leave the game,so the second half I can't comment on.I was impressed with the heavy hits by Crosby players. The crowd acknowledge the good ones.
Hope the 2 players mentioned with injuries make a quick return .Broken Collarbone will take weeks to recover so carry on Cougars.I'll be there to cheer you on at Hall stadium next week.

14.2, no need to explain. He definitely don't know any Crosby history, you come from a Football (RB) family. By many accounts (of course debatable) your Dad (RIP) was one of the best RBs ever to come out of Crosby/BST. I didn't see him play, but there are plenty that did and they are pretty close in their opinions. I also understand you did great work while up in the Dallas area with A&M Commerce. I left the Crosby area when you were playing HS but I heard good things.

Not really surprised by this one at all. Listening to the Longview fans about their issues not being able to throw the football yet and facing a team that went the 3rd round in 6A-D2 playoffs last year, that also boasts a 5⭐️ safety and what I think is the most NFL running back in the state you might’ve thought this was more probably than possible.

Joe Cauthen, who's the DC at Utah State now, gave me an opportunity to be a GA. Just couldn't see the benefit in working for free at that time. I often wonder what could've been? Crosby alum Aston Walter went the GA route and is now the assistant RB coach at Tennessee. Probably going to making north of $300k once he loses the assistant title, rather that be at Tennessee or some other school.

The huge Sweetgass Village subdivision going in on 1942 is what's going to make or break Crosby in 6A. If it ends up being more Pine Trails than Sterling Green than I think we're going to be fine. If it's the opposite then we could end up with an enrollment over 3,000 and hardly any additional football players which would put us in a real bind.

Must’ve gotten some bad analysis from my inner-city guy? I’m 50 plays into the CE King vs Westfield scrimmage film and CE King is kind of dominating both sides of the ball. The RB is smaller but better than the one they had last year and the o-line may even be a little bigger. Westfield has a stud RB committed to Rice but I will say, by no means is Westfield’s offense a thing of beauty which is often the case and the reason why they don’t have multiple state titles.

For the Crosby fans that saw the Lamar scrimmage they have a TE that’s just as just as big and fast and just as good, if not better than #41 for Lamar. Just saw him go up and catch one in double coverage then leap over a Westfield defender for about a 35 yard gain.
CEK’s starting QB on this scrimmage tape is ridiculous. Probably 7/10 for about 140 yards, 1 TD and 1 int halfway through. One incompletion is a throw away, one incompletion is a perfectly thrown drop to a wide open receiver and the other is an int in the end zone where the Westfield defender went about 10ft in the air and picked off what otherwise would’ve been a beautiful TD pass. What I’m hoping is that the starting QB on this film is the ineligible guy though, noticeable dropoff in arm talent to the #2.
On defense they’re huge on the d-line again and pretty much in general. D-line doesn’t look as athletic as the guys last year but they do have what looks to be a stud DE. Again, I think Westfield’s offense is helping them out some but this will be our first time running these new plays in a game. If the Lamar scrimmage is any indicator we’re going to have to do a lot of improving just for kids not to be arguing in the huddle about calls and where to line up. New offense seems a lot more complicated than the old ones but hopefully that makes them harder to defend once we get it figured out.

The problem is that you're going to have all those 6A's so close to each other. For instance, Crosby High School is closer to Channelview, North Shore, CE King, Summer Creek and all the Baytown schools than it is to BH. Channelview and North Shore's attendance zones are literally across the street from each other and the UIL split them up this alignment.
Off the top of my head just from Richmond to BH I can think of probably 10 teams that will move to 6A at the current caps. In a couple of alignments if they don't split the classes we're going to be at a point where the UIL will have to consider sending all North Houston area 6A to region two. If the UIL doesn't have an issue sending PNG 115 miles to FB Marshall one way then the 6A travel distances can't be an excuse.
The reason I said BH would probably be a candidate for 22-6A is because they're on that 146 corridor with La Porte and Deer Park. Remember, the UIL has split Dayton, Crosby and BH up before when we were in normal 5A.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the districts on this side of town look in 3-5 years? I think La Porte is going to go back to 6A so they’ll of course go with Deer Park, at that point it makes sense for BH to go over to 22-6A with La Porte and Crosby move to 21-6A by themselves or possibly with Kingwood Park. If La Porte doesn’t move back to 6A then I could see the UIL moving both Crosby and BH to 22-6A since it’s only a 7 team district right now.

Is it crazy to think that probably in the next five years this will be a district game? King's growth will continue as just like Crosby there are a lot of new subdivisions being built. They're also getting a lot of transfers from North Shore. As for Crosby if they can avoid the injury bug that pretty much devastated them last year. I think they have the talent to make some noise.

Happy about injured kids? There’s a lot of things you can accuse me of but as the parent of a child that’s had their leg reconstructed playing this game, please don’t accuse me of that.
