We'll see. I'm not sure about winning big...but yeah they'll probably win. They certainly better hope they win this one. I think there aren't a whole lot of winnable games on the schedule. JMO

Gotcha. I truly had no idea...goes to show how much I pay attention. I didn't remember any of the posts being that bad...but maybe I didn't notice. I really thought they just stopped posting. Kind of like my ole buddy HD55. It hasn't been quite the same since he dissappeared. Did that one get banned too?? Or just stop posting?
-
Is he/she not supposed to?.. Sorry I'm a little confused. I figured out who you're talking about but did something happen?.. or is the person just obnoxious or what?.. Because surely that isn't a problem. I could make a list of posters on this site that get on people's nerves. (myself included)

I honestly don't know. I didn't watch..just going on what I was told. Hardin has there quarterback back (best player maybe)...which was injured all of last year during football season. That alone will make them a better team. Also..realize that "better" is a relative term. Technically 1-9 is "better" than they did last year. Don't say anything is turned around just yet. I still don't think they'll win a district game. My preseason guess for them was 3-7...but that was before the HD game was cancelled. So scratch that.

You can say what you want...using the Liberty scrimmage as a measuring stick will end in disappointment. Yes there's no question Hardin is improved. They won zero games last year so I am betting they are improved. Liberty had a very respectable season last year. One of the best in the area...but they do not have the same team. Take that how you choose. They lost 2 college caliber backs...one of which I'm pretty sure I read broke the Liberty rushing record. Thinking they'll be AS good again is silly. So again. Hardin is better, but hard to tell how much better because Liberty is worse. Will find out for certain after Friday. For both teams.
-
Not to take anything away from whethr or not Hardin is much improved...but this Liberty team isn't remotely close to the one they had last year. I know people that know people and based on what I was told I'm pretty sure they were gutted by graduation. Plus I think there were some key injuries in that particular scrimmage. Doesn't mean anything about anything...but I wouldn't bet on Liberty being what they were a year ago. Probably still competitive in that district (exept WOS) but not a good measuring stick for how Hardin is.

So bad. Even though we have all witnessed an unimaginable event, I have never been more proud to live in Texas. I have made somewhat of a list that we WILL overcome as a state. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Houston ISD serves 220,000 kids. Neighboring Humble ISD 40,000 kids. Sheldon ISD where most campuses are still flooded 8900. There are another 10 school districts in the same county as Houston alone. Port Aransaa ISD (where the storm hit) has been closed indefinitely. 600 kids to move to a neighboring district. Almost every single one homeless. Beaumont ISD still covered in multiple feet of water, 20,000 students. Port Arthur ISD with water rescues happening today 8700 students. Wharton ISD had water rescues yesterday and they serve 2200 students. Not to mention all of the smaller districts along the coastal region that were affected. All told, there are close to half a million students still not in school. Start days scattered from Tuesday after Labor Day to the following Monday. Many will be starting at a different campus or district than they thought two weeks ago. Tens of thousands without school supplies, clothes or even a home. Teachers and coaches returning to work when they too have lost everything.

Should've let varsity go first. Oh well.
-
Well if that's the case then I go back to hoping they take a beatdown.
-
Well if that's the case I don't want them to do as badly as I previously did. But can't take away that they would have opted to move up IF their enrollment was below the 5A cutoff. For that...I will continue feeling as though BISD ranks in the top regarding stupid decisions that can be made by a school district.
-
And since they did that I hope they get demolished. Feel bad for the kids but that's what they (school) get. Such a stupid decision.

Hardin at Liberty Scrimmage/Post comments here!

This seems to be either good for Hardin...or bad for Liberty. Maybe both. -

Well...first off I didn't say that every school that didn't have a turf field was "bass ackwards and didn't give a damned about its athletic program". I probably most certainly implied that schools with nice facilities set a certain level of importance to their program. I think that most schools in the area are of the opinion that their field is "good enough". I know that having a turf field doesn't make you an automatic winner. But it is a draw. Facilities is just another reason for a family to want their child to attend a certain school. Which could have benefits. Obviously. And no. I didn't select 10 years as an example because of average longevity of a turf field. I used it because it's just a nice, even, relevant number. But honestly your money breakdown makes my argument look even better. No...300K is NOT that much money for a turf field. Yeah maybe it won't literally pay for itself but knowing the cost of maintaining a grass field makes it a lot more attractive. Plus you're forgetting the fact that you can make revenue off of it via hosting playoff games and such. Maybe not enough to make up the difference but every little bit helps. As far as Silsbee's operating cost. I have no idea. But there does have to be a way because a lot of schools find the way to get it done. Maybe Silsbee is top heavy. Most schools around here are (seemingly) spending a ton of money on administration. I don't know. But like I said...schools are finding a way to do it yearly. So it's not impossible. -

I can vividly remember arguing a few years ago that every school schould have turf. I also remember catching a lot of resistance. Funny how attitudes change when area schools start slowly acquiring turf fields. By the way. I really think that a vast majority of people don't realize the cost of maintaining a grass field over a 10 year period. Water, paint, man hours to mow, etc.. Anyway. Seems that more and more are finally catching on. -
Every school should want turf.

Something real shady going on here.

Livingston ISD Claims Realignment Sanctons Unfair
oldschool2 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
Then you wouldn't have to count them. You would only be counting the kids that are potential UIL participants anyway. Which is what the count is for. Right? Having schools compete with other schools with similar populations.. And the fact that schools have to pay for "seats" at alternatice campuses would stop schools from just hiding them over there...that combined with them not being able to participate. I don't know...just a thought. The problem is I can already see ways of getting around that and working the system... I don't know the answer. -
The single funniest thing I've read on the internet in a while. I literally laughed out loud. Thank you for that.

Maybe students at AEP shouldn't count. Just make it a stipulation that when/if enrolled in AEP for any reason then you aren't allowed to play sports for that alignment period (2 years). That'll solve that. Not to mention schools have to pay for a kid being in an alternative setting. -
I saw this last night. So sad. Prayers sent.

Can't even stir the pot in peace anymore. What kind of world do we live in?..

If a team is a Wing-T/Run Oriented offense then they aren't going to all of the sudden start passing during the season anyway. And like I said...7 on 7 will not prepare you for when people can actually tackle. Or when you have to make quick decisions on a pass because you're depending on 5 lineman to block. "Practicing" in a situation when you can sit back and quarterback...relaxed...not worried about being blind sided by a blitzing linebacker is a lot different than actually taking a snap and then spending the next 3-4 seconds running for your life just hoping to get rid of the ball before getting a concussion. 7 on 7 is pointless. It's really no different than playing "2 below" in the back yard with 8 neighbor kids.
