  1. There are definitely several examples that could be found...but not compared to the number of first-round playoff games there are. All irrelevant anyway...the UIL has discovered that the more games that are played the more money they'll make. I wouldn't be surprised if they just start letting everybody in the playoffs.
  2. There aren't just a whole lot of examples to justify letting 4 teams in in any classification. I think it's justified when a 4 beats a 1..proving that some districts have 3 or 4 teams that could potentially win other districts. But that doesn't happen often. In fact I'd argue that it's happens so few times that the whole thing is more watered down than anything.
  3. You're absolutely right. They scored 60 points in the district this year.... But scoring 60 points (2 touchdowns per game) leaves the defense on the field way longer than going 3 and out almost every single possession like last year.
  4. Massacre
  5. Having an improved offense will cause you to give up fewer points. So the QB helping to have longer possession time may have contributed more to defense than you realize.
  6. How far above the last cutoff are they? They seem close...and UIL will probably adjust the numbers some. Nobody ever knows for sure.
  7. Just assuming. Since the previous coach was ran off after game 5. Making him and Les Miles the only coaches in America to not get to even finish their season. And then the multitude of positive comments about the new coaching regime a couple months ago. You know...back when the Hornets were dominating the new teams on their schedule due to this new magic offense.
  8. So let me get this strait... Hardin added a new coach and a new QB (best player I hear).. and still managed to only beat one team that was on last year’s schedule?? Maybe it wasn’t the coach after all.
  9. What are you even talking about?...
  10. Have still yet to see a rumor of any kind. But ok.
  11. What exactly did I say that you are considering "garbage"? I'm just simply pointing out that...yet another WHATEVER going on in Beaumont ISD. she·nan·i·gans SHəˈnanəɡənz/ noun informal secret or dishonest activity or maneuvering. silly or high-spirited behavior; mischief

  15. I wasn't intending on seeming irritated. I wasn't. My tone is often taken out of context but I'm just "talking". I've never seen them either but I have a good friend who was on the coaching staff. Believe it or not, I think that most coaches would love to be able to do both (run/pass). Unfortunately, it takes a certain type of clientele to do that. Well...to do either effectively. And it's very hard to be really good at running or at throwing it around. Not enough time usually to get good at both. But I believe that coaches truly do whatever style fits the kids they have. And that probably changes year to year. A vast majority are run-heavy teams in the sport of football probably not be by choice. Some teams are just so bad that lining up, running between the tackles, and burning clock is the only option for keeping it respectable.
  16. "A couple rules of thought on this one. If you're talking smaller schools (3A and down) then a solid running attack may be enough to get the job done if you have a defense that doesn't give up points. I personally think that a pound and ground attack is better if you're a smaller school. Most bigger schools simply have too much speed on offense and you won't be able to keep up in an "outscore" situation. There are still teams in the smaller school ranks that win titles with slot-t type offenses. There aren't many teams able to do it but the good ones still get championships even if they mostly run. But here's the problem...if you have a run-heavy offense and fall a couple scores behind then you'll have pretty much no chance of catching up. That's why most run teams don't make it deep. When you see a team that is talented enough to score quick and often then your only option is to play completely mistake free and score every possession. Just too tough to do that. If we're talking about Woodville right now then I don't think they make it past round 3 because of this exact conversation. They'll see someone with enough up front defensively to offset that running attack and enough on offense to get to far ahead for them to catch up."
  17. Yes. yes, they are...you could find several examples. And just like I said... run heavy teams that make deep runs play. good. enough. defense. to. keep. teams. from. scoring... Both Brock and Gunter are small schools that are state championship quality. I'm starting to think you maybe didn't read or understand my original post. Please reread and get back to me.
  18. I said most bigger schools. But I also said that the smaller schools able to do it can keep people from scoring. That applies to all teams that are run oriented. Katy's pretty decent on defense too...

  20. Maybe you should coach. I mean...if you’re such an expert you could have those kids whipped into winning shape in no time.
  21. So quick to jump on the "blame the coach" bandwagon. smh..
  22. I was told by a friend of a friend that Liberty got their offense from WV. Coldspring couldn't stop Liberty...and they won't stop WV either. Woodville takes this one with not much issue.
  23. Well they dropped HJ and Centerville to pick up Warren and...kipp sunny side or something.. might as well have been JV teams. I’ll give you this...probably picked up the JV team to replace the HD game that canceled. And there isn’t much choice mid season. But Warren and that Kipp school couldn’t beat the jv team Hardin picked up. So yeah...I find it relatively hilarious as well. Add a new coach and a Senior QB (best player) and the hornets still have just 1 win vs the teams that were on the previous schedule. So far. But I doubt they beat Hempstead.
