  1. Well, their game with Orangefield is precisely what gave me the feeling I have. After going to OT with Lumberton (Ofield)...then the barnburner with Legacy...then OT again with EC...I don't know. I'm entitled to an opinion just like anyone. And this is my early opinion.
  2. Based on some early scores I've seen I'm thinking Kountze takes the district. Before the season started I was thinking that it would be EC based on what they had coming back and the move-ins...But I haven't been overly impressed with the EC scores I've seen... yet. That may change. And I'm hearing Kountze may have depth issues at some point and that may be an issue in bigger games (EC). But my gut is saying Kountze. I wouldn't be surprised if they split in the district though. Buna's scores are deceptive but I think they take 3rd. Don't know a whole lot about Kirbyville. I guess Anahuac takes 4th...? The other 3 may fight it out for the (Don't be last) trophy.
  3. After a 35-7 (or whatever) 1st quarter massacre I’m pretty sure the coaching staff has the authority to not give up but play as to keep it respectable if they choose.
  4. Probably kept running the ball to burn clock. The coaches should be applauded in that regard.
  5. I’m not negating anything Silsbee did. I’m just saying that it was 64-36....and not 84-21 because of Carthage. Point blank.
  6. Not a knock on Silsbee at all, but they scored 36 for the same reason that Carthage ONLY scored 64. Either way very respectable season. Now on to what Silsbee does best.
  7. Somebody forgot to tell Madisonville that they’re supposed to lose
  8. That would be a heck of a soccer game... or baseball/softball.
  9. I was kinda looking forward to this week's pickem. I generally do a little better during playoffs than regular season.
  10. I’m hearing that Buna put a beat down on some really bad teams. Maybe they aren’t as good as their scores have indicated.
  11. Ah.. makes sense. Friendly banter. For a quick second, I was thinking that If there was something in the conversation that warranted banning I should've been gone a long time ago.
  12. lol. I just saw the conversation go from Silsbee and Carthage to someone getting banned...? I guess.. Maybe there's a PM or something I don't know about.
  13. What the heck just happened ?? ...
  14. Argyle median household income-$110,000 Silsbee median household income-$33,000 Obviously there are other variables..and rules to this exception. But this makes a little bit of a difference.
  15. Have you seen Quentin Grimes play in person?

Many times.   Our first game of “summer” ball last spring was a double OT showcase loss to his team.  Have watched him since he was in jr high.   He’s a legit McD AA and will be a pro, likely in the league.

Oh for sure.  I have a buddy on staff at College Park who got to see him in person for the first time recently.  He's not a basketball so he was in shock that they have a kid that caliber walking the halls.  Even though I told him when he took the job last summer he was still in disbelief.

  16. Always nice to have a "practice" type situation and still get a W on the schedule. Stil...lol.
  17. I bet that's entertaining.
  18. Understandable. But perception is reality. And Silsbee has been beaten 4 times this year with the fastest kid in the nation on their roster. Sure does make it seem likely that the defending state champ can figure out how to do it too.
  19. Hey I’m just saying. I’m not the one implying that Silsbee speed is going to overwhelm. Having some speed is fantastic but this deep in the playoffs it takes more than just being fast. By the way Carthage hasn’t lost a game in a while either.
  20. Newton, WOS, Shadow Creek, and LCM figured out how to win against the fastest young man in the country.
  21. 42-14 Carthage
  22. You’re right it was misread the first time. But...just to be clear. You’re suggesting that it’s perfectly acceptable to have 2 kids on an All-State team at receiver out of hundreds of schools...but there needs to be double or even triple that many receivers on an All District team? Out of less than 10 schools? I’ll stick to my original point. 1st Team is meant to be the 11 that would start if you put together a literal team. That’s literally what it means. More than that is watered down.
  23. Wellll... lol..hate to break it to ya bud.. but the HIGH SCHOOL ALL STATE team is done exactly like the All Pro team. [Hidden Content] But you meant All District. My point remains the same...the NFL runs more 4 and 5 reciever sets than anyone. Still only 2 on the All Pro team. Doesn’t matter. 1st TEAM literally means the 11 that would represent the district/region/state/league
  24. I'm still trying to figure out why SeTx doesn't produce more college and pro level coaches. I know that every coach in the area must spend countless hours reading comments from this site and taking notes on proper strategy. With this wealth of knowledge and expertise it's simply astonishing to me that area coaches aren't calling plays on Sundays. I for one can't wait for games to finally end so I can come on here and start learning.
  25. The NFL puts 11 on the offensive All-Pro team... do high school teams run more sets, schemes, and have more WRs and TEs than NFL teams?
