  1. Don't shoot the messenger. It's not WHOever. I would never say anything like this based on the perspective of just one person or even a few people.
  2. Agree to disagree.
  3. I agree that student B would probably be tougher. There are some really hard cases all over this country/world where kids have it a lot worse than that ^.. yet they still endure. Toughness doesn't always equate to success. Not in sports anyway. You can be tough and have a great life and become a fantastic human being. We're not talking about that though. We're talking about the continued, constant success of Argyle and schools like it. They probably have a lot more "student A" than they do "student B". There are hundreds and thousands of examples of "student B" that can be given of a kid that physically fit the criteria but never made it because they never had much of a chance from the start.
  4. Not good for Kountze the way you would think. I don't know who all applied.. NONE OF US DO (hint hint ;)).. but I have some buddies that have some buddies and heard that there were some decent applicants. But.. I also heard it may end up being a homer. So in typical fashion... Kountze is gonna do what Kountze does when it comes to the football program. Not care.
  5. I heard there were over 50 applicants.
  6. Lol. Seriously? May or may not work with his brother at a school that rhymes with Casper. Go to the first page of this thread and read through the comments.
  7. I heard that the current AD isn't even really involved in the hiring process. The board..or a committe..or maybe both are doing it which is why it's taking so long and/or not being done in a typical fashion. That's just what I'm hearing.. so it looks like Kountze has Kountzed on the football job. Shocker.
  8. Of course not. That's kind of the point I'm making... there are hard-working kids, with some talent, that buy-in, and are well coached at lots and lots of schools. Very few schools are doing what Argyle is doing.
  9. There are hard working players with some talent that buy in all over the state...that are also well coached. You honestly think that the small handful of teams that win state titles are the only ones that do that?
  10. It's a mistake in my opinion.. if that's the route they go. I have it on very good authority that recent success as a head coach (that everyone's talking about) was due solely to the fact of a crap ton of talent. Loaded in fact. Other than just a stupid amount of size/speed/strength things were sort of a free-for-all. Don't shoot the messenger... that's what I heard. If even a fraction of that is true then Anahuac will have made a wrong decision. Can't make decisions based on popularity.. or a last name.
  11. I know there are exceptions... but money always plays a part. Student A (6'4 220) - Both parents work, unlimited support, never misses a meal, year-round personal trainer, access to any academic tutor money can buy, summer speed/strength/agility camps every summer, access to a nutritionist... etc. Student B (6'4 220) - let's just say struggles..financially, probably works during the summer, doesn't eat very healthily, poor performance in school because of sleep habits, stays after and lifts weights with a friend when he has a ride... etc. Again.. I KNOW there are exceptions. But if you don't think that ^^^ happens and plays a part then you're naive. The scenario I game above is the difference between a scholarship and not. Also could be the difference between a state championship and not. Imagine a team full of kids in the same situation. Either situation.
  12. Hopefully the officiating will be better this weekend than it was the last. At San Antonio I mean.. If not, then EC will be at a disadvantage. Not sure why but it seems that UIL officials don't like fast-paced basketball. Boys games are always called differently than girls games though.
  13. Gotcha. Perfect sense.. just unfortunate that the two highest ranked (according to TABC) teams have been matched up first.
  14. Why is 1 and 2 playing in semis? I thought the state tourney games were based on record for pairings.. probably doesn't matter.. Madison will beat either
  15. Well... what did you hear? Someone other than Barbay or the Dickenson coordinator? That's not going to turn any heads because that's what most people are already hearing.
  16. Is Kountze football still a thing? What's the word with the interview/hiring process over there?
  17. Maybe not AS... but still pretty much so I believe. We'll see.
  18. I gotcha. Well, that, unfortunately, happens with just about any circumstance where a coach decision impacts little Johnny's momma's feelings. In this instance ^ ... the coaches 100% did the right thing. Signing day is a pretty sacred thing and should only be celebrated by the members of the team that saw the season all the way through.
  19. Who is "yall"? I'm not blaming anybody... when I played if you quit a sport you weren't allowed to play the next sport. If you had no intentions of playing another sport then athletics was over for you. I don't feel sorry for anyone here. The kid shouldn't have been allowed to sign with the football players that he quit on.
  20. A kid that quit on his high school team... didn't stay at la tech long? What a shocker.
  21. Un huh.. I guess they had every kid returning from the year before? Didn't even lose one? Same district? Other district teams had the same exact kids? Coaching matters a little bit.. but good coaches can't win without players.
  22. *You're.......Hey, you're
  23. That will have more to do with their outcome than a coaching change. If it happened.
  24. I stopped sitting in the stands because of this exact scenario. I then stopped going to games altogether when I realized I could still hear those idiots from where I was trying to isolate myself. High school games that is. Big venues only from now on. smh..
