When does the program become the new coaches?
oldschool2 replied to AHUDDLESTON's topic in High School Football
I'm sorry.. but this thread is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Between upper classmen, transfers, injuries, alignments, and everything else that could possibly change the outcome of any one team's season.. how could anyone possibly determine when any particular coach has made the difference in a program. Enough of a difference to get credit/fault for wins/losses. Especially schools around here where most of the head coaches don't even get to see their first set of freshmen (or 7th graders in smaller districts) make it to graduation. If a kid has only played under one AD/HFC then they have played in said person's program. -

Nobody ever gives credit to where a majority of it belongs. To UIL. Those district alignments make winners into losers and losers into winners every other year. #ToughPillToSwallow -
Seems to me like there might be an upperclassmen or two getting to play this year that didn't for the previous coach. We'll see how much "community support" they continue having after a loss to Lovelady this week, a butt kicking by Grapeland next week, and then a total embarrassment by Mart the week after. And then after all of the seniors graduate when the coach heads for greener pastures.

Poverty and Football success
oldschool2 replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
I'm not saying one is better than the other in that aspect.. kids from tough upbringings are a lot of ways tougher because they've had to be. I'm just saying the in context of winning state championships, of course money makes a difference more times than not. I for one wouldn't be able to deal with parents of affluent, often entitled (spoiled) kids. -
Poverty and Football success

I've talked about this for years. Of course there are exceptions.. but for the most part, schools with money > schools without. Two working parents, 3 meals a day, summer camps, private tutor, nice equipment, high paid coaches, etc.. Anyone that thinks that doesn't make a difference is either naive or a fool. Or both. -
In boy's athletics, 18 year olds are better than 15 year olds almost every time.

I'd really like to see all of the details. Obviously, that ^ would/should raise some serious red flags but before I form my own opinion on the matter I'd like to know everything. I just had a feeling that this might happen if he went there and started having success no matter the situation.

This is why I hate people.

We have finally made it to district play for the young Bobcats... the beginning of basketball practice.

EC rolls. I think WV was the best chance at beating EC... shutout.

Kountze wouldn't beat them in basketball either. Not lately.

Briles vs Finney. It’s 27-21 half. I’m listening live at meridix.com. Just search Winnsboro if you’re interested.

"They just can't recognize talent when they have it." - Disgruntled parent who's kid probably isn't good enough to play the amount of time or position that the experts at home think. I have no idea why schools waste money on coaching salaries with all of the experts in the stands.

If the center got absolutely destroyed the previous play then a fumbled snap could be a result of the defense. I get your point but my point is that there are so many things that happen during live play competition that could most definitely cause something to happen that people often overlook.

I'm probably going to pick EC (not that it means anything) but I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer than expected. Pretty good little rivalry game. Related note. I think it's hilarious when someone says that their team "hurt themselves" by turning it over or fumbling.. More times than people want to admit the defense of the other team CAUSED the turnover or fumble. Either directly or indirectly if your team is putting the ball on the ground it may be because of the defense.

The comments made it seem as though kids came out that hadn’t previously. Looks like the same Kountze to me.
-
Based on early comments you’d think Kountze was gonna be good this year.
