Kingwood Park 44 Nederland 41/Final
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
And Ozen absolutely has very good guard play. But to say "NOONE" (which I presume to mean no one)? Ridiculous. You have a kid going to a Conference that is 29th out of 32 and an unsigned senior. But I know, I know...those dumb college coaches don't know what they are doing... -

Not saying they would. I think you should tell Saveat to take Sigler up on his offer so we can see. Silsbee did beat Central who won 2 out of 3 from Ozen. And Big Sandy beat Nederland by small margins twice, just like Ozen. Do I think Big Sandy would beat Ozen? No. Do I think Silsbee would beat Ozen if they played next year, probably. But we probably won't know for sure because I doubt Ozen would want to play that game. But the way they are playing right now, I think one would have to argue that Ozen is the best area team. And this IS the most important part of the season. -

I gotcha. I wish Saveat would take Sigler up on his offer to play them. My bet is we would hear a little less about losing to teams from lower classifications afterwards. -

Nope. I posted in another thread Ozen could learn a lot from this game tape. Exactly what I was talking about. -

Actually, Nederland played Big Sandy twice this year. And lost both times. -
Son went at halftime of Central to get a bottle of water. Didn't get back to seat until the game was in the 4th quarter. Ridiculous

Shaka with another notch in a very short belt to this point. If he lands Jarrett Allen (as many predict) to go along with Andrew Jones, it will give us 2 McDonald All Americans to go along with a need big (James Banks) and one of the state's top shooters in Jacob Young. Look out CBB!

Could Beaumont suffer the same fate as La Marque?

It really, really bothers me when race is brought into this issue. The local paper which did more to expose the issues going on at BISD has been called racist time and again, despite the fact the owner of said publication has been one of the largest contributors to Democrats in this State for a long time, and a staunch supporter of civil rights. And believe it or not, I have African American friends with kids in BISD who were as outraged as anyone about the deception and thievery going on there. Ultimately, the taxpayers were going to pay what the law said they had to pay. The real victims were the kids because to me, that's who was being stolen from. If you aren't offended by what was happening, I have issues with where your priorities lie. -
What I was thinking. If Trump wins though, Christie would do little, if anything, to garner additional votes in the general election. Rubio or Kasich would at least go a long way to getting you one of the swing states.

I saw all those and you were correct. The only other one I can think of was when a Furr player caught the ball on the sideline in front of the Silsbee bench and Dontre (I believe) ran into him forcing him out of bounds. No foul, Silsbee's ball. But four or 5 misses over a full game and none that were pivotal - like you, I will take that every time. And they were very consistent in controlling the game and not unjecting themselves. Thought that was a very good crew. -
Me either. Just said he would be back next week.

I know Marshall has some length but haven't seen them this year. How good are their bigs?
-
Yes. He said he would be back this coming week.

Fort Bend Elkins 70 Beaumont Central 65/Final

Apparently McCain didn't have trouble penetrating on Central either, in one of his first Varsity games But you miss my point...it's not the penetrating. Both Central and Silsbee were able to get in the lane. One team chose to force up shots against 2 and 3 defenders, one did not. So then it comes down to 1 of 2 things, lack of court vision or playing selfish? Either doesn't bode well when playing against elite competition... -
Was waiting for this. Really thought McCain might have had a triple double.
-
Read my mind. Sterling doesn't have the horses this year to run with Silsbee. Tigers come ready to play, they blow their doors off.

Elkins led 17-11 after 1, and 29-28 at half. Each outscored the other in 2 periods. -

i am betting there is a lot of congestion at the top of the standings in this district next year. Nederland will be in the mix for sure. -
Prayers for Bruce's family.

Elkins actually led 17-11 after one. So each team outscored the other in 2 quarters But the third was the killer Jags went from down 1 to down 21 Elkins heated up, no doubt, but you can't score 5 points in a period against one of the top teams and win the game. The hardest part to swallow is it was avoidable. Same trap I see the Jags fall into before. Watching Central and Silsbee showed a huge disparity between the two, especially when McCain was in. The Jags would have success penetrating against the man defense, and then force up a shot against at least two, often 3 defenders (if the other team is playing 5 people too, math should tell you one or two guys are open). McCain was penetrating at will for Silsjee and then finding the guy open underneath or kicking to a shooter. If he didn't draw help, he scored. All night. -

I'm not saying you're wrong. And I hope you're right. I was just saying both teams are losing key seniors this year. Both have other kids capable of stepping up. And that I thought the rivalry would still be very competitive. But I get what you're saying - the reload thing. -

Man, officiating is so hit and miss. I thought the crew for the Central game was pretty bad and then the crew for Silsbee-Furr was really, really good.
