  1. I think WS and San Augustine will both be very good teams next year......BUT Shelbyville is my dark horse. They have some horses and Burrell was a man-beast as a sophomore. I don't know if they win that district, but they have the talent to do so. And also enough talent to make a good playoff run.

I agree, but I just dont believe that they will improve enough to be legit contenders for the district title.  I do think that they will fight it out for the second or third spot (more than likely third).  Last year the WS vs Shelbyville final was 60-21 with two of Shelbyvilles scores coming late 4th when WS had subs in.  Offensively WS will be just as fast if not a little faster this year as whole than they were last year.  The defense may slow a little but they will be bigger and stronger.  I really dont think there will be any decline for WS, so will Shelbyville improve by say 40 points??  I honestly dont think so.  I do see that game being a little tighter to the tune of a 3 score differential. I think it will be something like 42-21 WS.  If SA can tighten a little on defense they will also come out on top over Shelbyville.  SVille will not be able to hang with SA speedwise.  Joaquin and SVille will be a good one, the winner of this game gets 3rd.

  2. Just curious Javelina, who are the 5 teams that beat HD? I know CV, WS, and Groveton will be tough games. HD should go 4-0 to start season. Hemphill, Burkeville, Colmesneil and Sabine Pass are the HD opponents. Then HD has WS, Groveton, West Hardin, Anderson-Shiro, CV and Lovelady. I see us beating West Hardin, Anderson-Shiro and Lovelady. We should play Groveton close. So... based on that, we lose to WS, CV and maybe Groveton. 8-2 or 7-3!

I really don't believe that Hemphill should be placed in that "for sure" class with Burkeville, Colmesneil, and Sabine Pass.  Hemphill will improve this year and remember they will have a fairly large team will be able to keep fresh legs in the game.  I know that Hemphill's record last year was as bad as it could get but if you go and look at last years schedule and game by game results Hemphill was in a lot of games they played and other than a few games they scored and held opponents for a good bit of the game.  I really look for the Hornets to be improved.

  3. Just wanted to take a minute and say congratulations to Sabine County native Justin Twine. This remarkable young man was selected 43rd overall in the 2014 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins. He was the 3rd overall Texas high school player taken. Whether he actually goes to Miami or decides to stay at TCU I will be supporting him and his team. For those that don't know Justin he is great young man. One of the most respectful and humble people I've ever known. Justin never and has never been one to brag about his accomplishments. I've heard him brag about his teammates and their accomplishments but never his own. Well Justin, I'll do the bragging for you!! You are one of the best things to come out of Sabine County. We are extremely proud of you and will be faithful followers and fans throughout your career. Justin, words can't describe how excited I and my family are for you, when your name was called last night we uncontrolably jumped from our seats hollering and fist pumping as if our hometown team had just won a state championship!! Great job buddy, you most definately deserve this!

  4. today begins my first vacation in over three years. we will be hitting Rayburn tomorrow then.....

    Toledo

    Lake Fork

    Caddo

    Palestine

    Houston County

    Conroe

    Livingston

and ending the last few days back at Rayburn.

While I love Rayburn and actually live within half a mile of that lake, Toledo Bend is on FIRE right now.  TB is producing some really good numbers and big fish.  It is definatley the lake to fish in East Texas!  Good luck!

  5. It was an awesome season for WS.  There are some seniors graduating that I am really going to miss, but man WS is really going to make some noise next year, they have so many good players returning and an unbelievable JV bunch moving up.  The JV boys went 12-1 this year.  I hate that we lost but with so much underclassman talent it's going to be good to be a WS baseball fan for several years to come.

  6. Douglass has to be the favorite, they have been ranked #1 all season and have not done anything to show why they wouldn't be #1.  However, WS can compete with any team in the state in 1A but they will HAVE to play to the best of their ability without any errors in order to beat Douglass.  We will get to see what the Tigers are really made of later this week.  Should be an interesting series.

  7. All the blunt blowing and syrup sipping back in the day has clouded my vision and memory.. Not able to see as well as I could back in 1993 when I was freestyle flowing on the streets of Port Arthur.

So, you are a self-admitted syrup sipping blunt blower from way back??????????  And you have the audacity to talk about folks from Chester and Southeast Texas????  Come on Lil' Wayne!

  8. Nobody asked for your opinion. You probably wear a duck dynasty shirt everyday.

Yeah, much like you and your "I love Snooki" jersey shore shirts. By the way, you asked for mine and every other members opinion when you joined this message board. That's what it's here for, everyone's opinions, duh!
  9. To say we would be outcoached is not ripping the coach. Coaches get outcoached at every level, that is just the facts. Sorry you feel that way.

I just know for a FACT that BS is EXTREMELY lucky to have a coach the caliber of the one they have now and I believe he is as good as any in 1A.

  10. I think BS can make it interesting.  Douglass is undoubtably very good but they were beaten by Woodville early if my memory serves me correctly in the Colmesneil tournament and Cushing played them close.  BS and Cushing are fairly equally talented in my opinion.  I do think Douglass edges out BS, but if BS comes to play it will not be a blow out. Good luck BS!

  11. One bad apple doesn't ruin the whole bunch, bro. I was down behind home plate and I didn't hear anything like that from either side. I was the one who had the hair spiked up in the Texans jersey. Competitive juices were going on each side. This should be an interesting rd. 3 when they meet again......

It looks as though a flip of the coin will be the determining factor of this district.  Does it really matter though?  Regardless of seeding you're going to have to face the top teams to get out of the region.  I'm not sure that winning the flip is the most beneficial option.  I HATE having a bye, it can be a momentum killer!
