  1. Gentlemen, what is considered the geographical line that separates SETX from NETX?  The reason I ask this is because I would not consider Lufkin as a NETX team.  I understand that they are in a district with teams that are NETX but wouldnt that also apply to Jasper?  Were they not in a district with Carthage and some other NETX teams a while back?  If so, were they considered a NETX team then?  Just asking for some clarification because in my opinion West Sabine is a SETX team and we are SETX proud but at the next realignment we may be in a district with Hull Daisetta and West Hardin or we could be placed with Joaquin, Beckvile and other NETX teams.

  2. think they can beat Douglas?

I think they "CAN" beat Douglas??   Yes!  I think this team can beat anybody in their classification, but it will take near perfect play to get it done!  In my opinion this years WS team is better than last years WS team and we played Douglas pretty close in the playoffs and I don't think Douglas this year is as good as Douglas last year...........  I could be wrong, though.

  3. Nice win for WS! Congrats on the District Title! Is Reshod back to playing yet?

No, Reshod is not back, but he is expected back by WS's first playoff game.  Reshod is a great athlete but not the best baseball player WS has, however his absence changes the entire complexity of the team.  It's strange but I guess that's what great athletes do for a team.

On a side note, I would like to applaud Garrett Brown for his great perfomance from the the mound last night, Dillon Sepulvado for his perfomance at the plate, and Demarie Smith for being one of the toughest kids I've seen play.  That may be what makes this team!! Garrett Brown, Ty Fore, Kirkland Wilson, Demarie Smith, and Reshod Williams are "never give up" players, they get hurt and get up and go at it again and they play with their hearts.  4 of those 5 are seniors and I pray that the younger guys are paying attention and remember the young men that played with heart and try their best to emulate that.  We have a great group of young guys coming up but if they dont get after it the way these guys do then they will not have the success this team has had.  I'll take a team full of heart over a team full of heartless talent any day!!!!

  4. Wow! That's impressive... Any basketball skills? If so let me know... Would love to have them in my organization.

Anybody that wants info on Reshod Williams should contact Tod Stark at Hardin ISD or John Jones/Jerred Wallace at West Sabine ISD or you can look him up on hudle.

For Jamikel Roberts I would contact Torrey Barnes at San Augustine ISD.

Also, for what its worth, both of these young men are extremely respectful, well spoken young men that NEVER get into any trouble.  They are model athletes!

  5. At the 2A level hard to argue with Jamikel Roberts of San Augustine.

District Offensive MVP in football if i recall correctly

    District MVP in basketball

1st team baseball as a junior

Ran on 4x100 and 4x200 at state track meet as junior.

Another good one is Reshod Williams of West Sabine.

I believe he was the football district MVP, don't exactly remember what he got in basketball but 1st team I think, good at baseball and can fly on the track as well.

I agree!  You mention Jamikel Roberts of San Augustine anywhere from Tyler to Beaumont and most everyone has heard about him.  Not a knock on SA but it is a shame that he is stuck playing baseball on a team that is horrible, because he is a really good baseball player.  The kid is a natural at all sports!

Reshod Williams (West Sabine) was the district MVP in football, won the built ford tough player of the week during the 2014 football season, played in the border battle as WR for the Texas team catching every pass thrown his direction and blowing by defenders (was probably the fastest kid on the field out of both teams).  He was 1st team all district in basketball, and I would put him up against ANY centerfielder in ET/SETX in baseball.  He ran a 10.53 100 at the track meet in Huntington last week.  Not saying he is the best in SETX but you have to mention this kid when talking about some of the best all around athletes in SETX.  BTW, we have another coming up that may turn out to be just as good, soph. Demarie Smith......  you will hear alot about him in the coming couple years.

  6. Could it be a simple mistake for an entire officiating crew to call fourth down when in reality it is only third down?  This happened in a tight game that I watched this past football season, the team actually had the ball on the 35 or so and it was third and two to go for the first, but somehow the officiating crew called it fourth and two which resulted in a punt instead of an opportunity at a first down.  Everyone in the stands new it was 3rd down, both sides, our coaches argued it to no avail.  The opposing coach (who is a classy guy) comes over after the game and appologizes and explained that he new it was third down but couldnt very well argue the call for the other team being this was a district game with playoff implications.  How does that happen with that many officials on the field and sidelines, not one of them said that they thought it was third down, in thier minds ALL OF THEM new it was fourth down.  This was early in a game that was chocked full of blown or fishy calls.  As a matter of fact at the end of the first half the penalty differential between the two teams was something like 14-1 and the other teams one penalty was in the last seconds of the first half.

  7. Goodness man. HD will maybe take 2nd a Regionals in the Sprint relay if there lucky.

WS is pretty fast in the 4x100 this year.  I dont know how these times relate to Alto or HD but in the two meets I know about the WS 4x100 team ran 43.16 and 43.12 and if they ever have clean exchanges on each leg they may cut it to a sub 43.

I cant find the results from the San Augustine meet.

  8. Congratulations. I don't care who you have played, that is impressive. You have a great coach, and a very athletic team. Region 3 is always the toughest in the state, so best of luck. Should be a great game with Colmesneil. They have some full grown men on that team, and Coach Hooked has them playing well. Keep us updated.

Yeah, Hooker always has his young men primed for WS and all games for that matter.  He and Coach Lane are top notch baseball coaches!  You're right about region 3, it's loaded!

  9. Through the first 4 games of district West Sabine has outscored opponents 69-1. Next week WS will get to play Colmesneil which will be the first test for the Tigers in district action. I can't wait, this is always a very competitive game and becoming a great friendly district rivalry.
