No score on sixmanfootball.com and Max Preps also has the game being played tonight. As well as the schedule Coach Rawlins sent me.
It was played last night. 22-22 was the correct final score. I’m not sure why it ended in a tie though.

I believe the final was 78-53 OCC.
Who in the world is #34 for OCC? He's huge!!!!
You should see his dad lol Community’s program after some down years, will be on the upswing. Maybe won’t see those results this year but in the years to come scores will start looking like 2012, 2013 and 2014.

i will say it again this kid is the real deal!!!!!!! and only 15 all state as a freshman at legacy last year on defense and offense
and if he decides to play, he could be a heavy contributor on the basketball team as well.

Told y’all after that game Lofton would get offers almost immediately. He’s playing for an Adidas team at The Gauntlet this weekend too so expect even more to come. The way he played against a top 20, 7 foot big, impressed a lot of coaches that probably didn’t even know his name coming into peach jam. The kid has a bright future ahead of him.

Did Houston Hoops win... ?
Hoops lost by 8, Lofton picked up an offer from the University of Akron earlier today though.

Houston Hoop 37
Mokan Elite 37
Half
Bush playing excellent in front of a packed coaches row.
Lofton Jr. giving the 18th ranked player in the country, and 7 footer, Nfaly Dante, fits with his slow methodical post game. Lofton Jr will likely receive some more offers immediately after this game is wrapped up.

Texas State is a D-1 school.
Therefore just this past two seasons Silsbee QB Willie Jones was the starting QB at Texas State.
Adam Morse at Lamar also.

WhyNot beat Titans earlier this morning. 3 Eybl Powerhouses and then WhyNot in the final 4. Hoops Vs MOKAN and Boo Williams vs WhyNot. Bush hasn’t played particularly well at peach jam but he had a great performance today. It’ll be fun to watch the Mokan size play against the smaller, but better guards of Hoops.

I’m admittedly biased but Big Val probably has as high a ceiling as any of them. Just had 13 boards and 8 blocks against perennial power WeR1 (who has two huge, high D1 bigs). One of their wings rose up off the baseline to throw one down and Valentin met him with his head above the rim and sent that thing out of the gym. It was SportsCenter quality. Hoping the video guy captured it.
He has the most potential out of any kid in the area the last 3 years or so. Dating back to Nijal Pearson id say. Also if Houston Hoops wins tonight we will get to see Lofton Jr and Bush play at 1 pm tomorrow on ESPNU just a reminder to everyone reading this thread.

1. Hayden Hefner, Ned
2. Clover, PA
3. Braelon Bush, Silsbee
4. Valentine Catt, Orangefield
5. Kasen Harrison, United
6. Kenneth Lofton Jr, PA
7. Earnest Ceaser, EC
8. Justin Pleasant, United
9. Terrence Arceneaux, United
10. Forrest Holliefield, West Brook
I think the 2-6 could be rearranged by who you like more. 1 is a no brainer for pretty much everyone. HJ has some kids that can go. I like a few more guys from brook who could be up there. It’s hard to do these list without feeling like you’re leaving someone out.

At some point you will have to sit back and realize this Tigers team is not as deep as before. They aren’t beating people by 30+ every game in the playoffs. They are still, probably, the best team in the state for 4A. Quit being spoiled and enjoy this team for what it is. A possible state championship team and one that will be remembered in Silsbee forever. Enjoy this run because it will be a long time before any team in SETX makes a run like they have the last 4 years. With that being said Silsbee by 12.

He is extremely unselfish with the touches he gets (was 4-6 from the field). He also finished with 16 rebounds and 8 blocks. It was indeed another great game where the Cougars made the plays when they needed to.
I have greatly enjoyed watching your boys over the years. Alex is a true competitor and a great player. And I have a great respect for kids like him that are exceptional in the classroom. I know he has a tremendously bright future ahead of him.
And it is so refreshing to see kids go at it with everything they have and still display the sportsmanship they did tonight on both sides. Best of luck to Buna in the playoffs!
The best of the Connell’s has still yet to come also.

Buna’s coach was pretty dang good back in the day. I remember playing against him several times.
To say he was pretty good would be an understatement lol Coach Whitmire was a great basketball player. Him coming back to coach at Buna, along with some good talent the past 6-7 years, has turned that program around.

So is United going to be pretty good? I know there were some "new school growing pains" in football but Central/Ozen always had some hoopers. Are they going to be ok?
They will be in the regional tournament. Where they go from there will be determined on how well they can shoot from distance and share the ball. They will also be getting a player back from an injury later possibly, who I believe is there best player.

Yes he played had about 8pts i think but honestly the lineup should’ve been ,Kasen,Jakia,Subject,Baker,Pleasant...
sounds like the starting 5, or atleast finishing 5 I would have to. Gotta see how everyone gels together. If they can get Dotson back before the end of the season they will be just fine. It’s an adjustment period for now.

But back to the Silsbee vs United game. Silsbee fans I mean this as no disrespect but there is no way in hell Silsbee should’ve beaten BU last night.( I did pick Silsbee to win so don’t go crazy). Yea I understand Silsbee has 3 extremely good players along with Tyler who could very well be a star at any other school. But I’m not a fan im a student of the game of basketball and what i saw last night from BU was terrible. No offensive sets ,poor substitutions, lets not even talk about the defense. Silsbee took advantage of all that with 7 guys playing at that pace for an entire game , that in itself is jaw dropping. #5-6’6 Justin Pleaant could not be stopped offensively and he might have had 5 touches,#14- 6’6 Tyrese Baker played 45 secs., #23-6’5 Jaylen Subejct who is the best player on BU doesn’t get in til the 2nd qtr seriously. Lack of shooting will get them too, BU made maybe 8 jump shots for the WHOLE GAME!!!! .Your only true ball handler is Kasen and you rely on him to score because your not running offense. When you start to play good teams they will take him out the equation by trapping him which is what Silsbee should’ve done. BU has so much length but they only play one way you won’t beat good teams playing like that. They are legitimately 10 deep but trying to play 14 guys will get them in trouble every game . There isn’t enough time to do that and you take players out of rhythm. No negative energy here only my thought as a student of the game
Is Jakia not playing?

He played well, definitely didn’t know he was a freshman. Everyone for Memorial was, no surprise, very good. Lofton and Clover were the difference though.

How did the freshman play for Memorial? I was extremely impressed with him last week. His shooting got them back in the Concordia game.
what # was he?
-
A lot of contact both ways. Not a game you can blame on the refs imo. Silsbee got complacent and took, and also made, a ton of bad shots. Turned the ball over or missed layups in transition multiple times. Difference was field goal percentage in the paint. Silsbee was probably under 50% why Memorial probably shot somewhere close to 80% in the paint.
Both teams will be perfectly fine in a few months time.

That’s how the TABC had them I am guessing. I would be willing to bet those two teams won’t both be in the top 3 of that district.
I just know, barring any transfer to other teams that I don’t know, Buna brings back two of the top 5 players in the district, while Kountze lost their 4-5 best players to graduation. Seems weird to me. Teams will be playing for second place in that district this year.
-
Just a question to some who voted, what does Kountze bring back over Buna, that would lead you think they will be better than Buna this season?
