  1. sounds like a pretty good game... thanks for the updates.
  2. LCM might just be the real deal. they've strung together a couple of pretty impressive wins.
  3. If HJ can cut the lead down a bit in the 3rd, i like their chances at a 4th quarter comeback. as of right now, it seems like silsbee showed up to play!
  4. wow, that's a bit of a surprise... nice win for dayton.
  5. yup, and their offense is good for a bunch of wins in the games where they don't get quality starts. they ought to be a world series contender.
  6. wow, congrats to ozen... looking at your last couple of results, ya'll have really improved.
  7. yup, i thought HJ was going to win, but i thought it would be a nailbiter. didn't sound like green got much help tonight... great win, hawks!
  8. a technical that carried over from the JV game? I've never heard of that before...
  9. a little more like the bear team i expected this season...
  10. You tell it exactly as you see it, with no effort to avoid stepping on toes. you also do so with a blatant bias, and you do so knowingly, and without excuse or apology. you use a great deal of basketball knowledge to chastise those who speak out of ignorance, or whose views differ from your own. you don't back down from anyone if you don't agree with them. and you do it all with a touch of sarcasm and humor. it kinda grated on me at first, but the more i read, the more i enjoy it, because it's become clear to me that you are neither an idiot or a jerk (although at times you might show a touch of each ). you are just passionate about your basketball, and your team, and who can really gripe about that?
  11. i don't mind the mets... they're way better than the yankees. they're going to be pretty tough to beat this year.
  12. not true... but the stadium will be lit by solar panels, and the footballs will be made out of recycled tires.
  13. you've agitated me before, dick, but now i kinda see how you do things and it cracks me up. the thing that really cracks me up is that you manage to piss people off so often, even when you aren't saying anything inflammatory.
  14. i was a dicky V hater for about 2 days, but now i'm one of your biggest athletic supporters.
  15. 4 goals 5 minutes into the game is pretty nasty.
  16. it really is a shame... it makes no sense to me when i see parents living vicariously through their kids to the point where they are more passionate than the kids playing the game, and more disrespectful and outspoken. parents are supposed to be role models for their children. i see more and more parents acting like children in the stands. and we wonder why kids talk back to their coaches, disrespect the referees, and get into fights at the drop of a hat. their parents are doing the exact same thing in the stands! it blows my mind. until parents begin to act more like adults, i can only see youth sports continuing to deteriorate.
  17. babe, i don't think your choice is stupid. he's a phenomal athlete and competitor. he just doesn't fit MY idea of the world's best athlete. i think this is a case where we can respectfully agree to disagree.
  18. because there are so many sports, with so many great athletes... do you go with someone who's a great olympian, a champion decathlete? do you go with the best quarterback or running back? do you go with a great soccer player who can run for 90 minutes straight while doing things with his feet that nobody else in the world can do? what about the best point guard, who can dribble, pass, and shoot as well as anyone else while playing a full game without a sub. maybe you can even argue for the world's fastest man. if you picked anybody who fit into any one of these categories, i probably wouldn't try to dispute you. the fact that you've picked a highly skilled athlete, who dominates his sport would normally make me agree with you as well. the problem is that you've picked a sport where the athlete doesn't have to do anything more physically exerting than walk a mile or two over several hours while swinging a long stick at a ball that isn't even moving. that's not all that athletic in my opinion. what tiger woods does is amazing. his skill level is beyond that of anyone in the history of golf, and his mental edge is staggering. i agree that he is the most skilled athlete in the world. he's arguably the most dominant athlete in the world at his sport. i just don't think he's the best athlete in the world. i don't have to name one in particular to state that opinion. i feel that the top pros in several sports are better athletes than him. there are athletes in every sport who can run faster, jump higher, and hit harder than him. there are athletes in every sport who could probably beat him at every sport outside of golf. how is he a better athlete than them?
