1. you might be right... but if he can hit .280-.290 with 20 HR's and 80 rbi, that will be a nice addition, plus another leader in the club house.  also, it's worth noting that he's always been a beast when hitting in arlington!
 2. also, with Bon_Mot moving and aries brother graduating from high school, neither are nearly as active in the local soccer scene.
 3. i agree, but as long as the topics follow the rules of the board, there's not much i can do.  it's important that the serious soccer fans post serious soccer threads so that we have something to talk about!!!
 4. The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with Vladimir Guerrero on a one-year deal for $5 million plus performance incentives with an option for a second year, according to a source. Guerrero fills the Rangers' need for a right-handed bat in the middle of the lineup and will likely be the club's designated hitter. Guerrero, who turns 35 in February, played in 100 games for the Los Angeles Angels in 2009, most of them at DH. He hit .295, his lowest average for any full season in the majors, but also added 15 homers and 50 RBIs. He also had a .334 on-base percentage, well below his career numbers. He was on the disabled list twice, including one nearly monthlong stretch with a strained knee. Guerrero is a .321 hitter in his career and has a .386 on-base percentage. Guerrero has historically played well against the Rangers and in Arlington in his career. He hit .396 against the Rangers in his six seasons with the Angels. The 14-year veteran played his first eight seasons with the Montreal Expos. Guerrero brings postseason experience to the Rangers, something that has been missing in the clubhouse. Guerrero batted .378 in the 2009 playoffs.
 5.

I agree. Had Silsbee continued to play in the manner that Yates played the ENTIRE game, then Silsbee would have beaten Legacy by a simuliar score that Yates beat Lee.
Except Silsbee couldn't score 170
they might have.  we don't know because they were classy enough to pull out of their full court press.
 6. anytime you're down more then 40 in the 2nd half, it goes to a running clock.  that's an insurmountable lead, but it's not so much that it's too embarrassing, and a running clock would keep the things under a little more control.
 7.

Yes, but I would miss the NC, Superbowl, and World Series all together to watch my kid play in any Jr. Hi game. No contest!
Im with ya there,, :)
that's why i don't have kids :)
 8. "The last two times Wise instructed his players to mash on the breaks, they found themselves on the short end of a devastating and embarrassing losses at the hands of Wheatley HS (March 2008) and Alief Elsik HS (Dec 2008)." Well, it's a good thing they kept their foot on the gas.  i'm quite sure had they stopped pressing Lee would've overcome their 88 point halftime deficit.

 10.

2-0 against KTZ this year
so i guess all you HJ fans care about is goin 2-0 against Kountze? lol ok big deal im sure we could send yall a post card from austin when we make it there and yall are in sour lake:)
not at all... but when somebody from kountze constantly talks about how HJ is overrated, scared to play good teams, poorly coached, etc. etc., you can bet we're going to bring up the 2-0 against Kountze.
 11. i'm hoping they'll cancel school tomorrow  ;D
 12.
There are lots of poor and working class immigrants living near Lee High School.   Basketball is not the sport of choice in that area.  it is probably soccer.  It is an old and run down school.  There are some affluent families in that area.  They send their children to expensive private schools.   Yates running up the score on Lee is classless.   That would be like one of the big suburban schools beating Yates by [s]10[/s] 30 runs in baseball.  It is too easy to do, and therefore not that big a deal.
13. the whole "it's their job to stop us" is a good argument in the pros, where players are getting paid.  if i was making 5 million bucks a year, i would agree that it was my job to stop the opposing team.  for these poor kids, it's not a job.  they're playing because they love the game, and nothing can squash that love quicker than having to play what is essentially a high school all-star team that never lets up.
 14. this isn't a race issue.  it's a class issue.  winning by 135, and never getting out of the press is classless.
 15. what about the roads?  with all of the precipitation thursday, will the roads ice up?  and if so, how long will they stay that way considering how cold it will be?
 16.
Vital piece? Umm long as Turner is suiting up then they should have No Excuses against 2a teams. Keep all the whining in S.L
not sure who's whining...  or did you mean winning?  yeah, we do that alot.  especially against Kountze.
 17. i think they're missing a vital piece of their team... one who was pretty dominant against the lions, if i'm not mistaken.
 18. horns pull away and win 96-85.
 19. Lead down to 3 with 2 1/2 minutes left.  i'm not a big fan of these refs... it's been a lot of wreckless drives by arkansas bailed out by cheap foul calls.
 20. Texas opens up the 2nd half with a 7-0 run
 21.
Tied 48-48 at the half, and a heck of a ballgame going on!  Arkansas is only 7-7 this year, but they got a guard back tonight (Fortson) who's a really good player, and i think their record would be better if he'd been playing so far this season.
i'll quote my thread and delete it.  you posted yours right before i did mine :)
 22.

Nederland beat their alumni 1-0 Kelly beat their alumni 2-1
Nederland's 2 best alumni weren't allowed to play.  Kansas City didn't want 2 of their players getting hurt in a scrimmage. ;D
Yea, Davy Arnaud was to busy preparing for the WORLD CUP to play in the alumni scrimmage!!!
sometimes i wish professional athletes would get their priorities straight :)
 23.
Lamar would beat Yates. That's silly to think otherwise. You know better than that, bullets.
it was a joke, of course... although it wouldn't be a blowout.  i think yates could beat some of the teams lamar has beaten.
 24. Yates could beat a lot of college teams (Lamar, cough cough).  There's no team that has come out of here that could beat them, with the exception of some sort of fluke.  some of the teams y'all have named might keep it kind of close, but nobody from this area was better.
