pershon moves well for his size.  the freshman needs some work, but at his age, he's got plenty of time.  both of these guys should cause opponents fits down low next year.

Both teams (HJ and Silsbee) should be really good next year, all three games were very good.
We should be pretty good but I think overall HJ has more coming up especially size wise.
y'all have more staying, though.  should be some more great games next year.
 3.
That is a little bigger difference in foul numbers than I thought still don't think it was unfair.
gotta factor in the fouls down the stretch by the tigers to intentionally put the hawks on the line...  that made the difference look a lot worse than it actually was.
 4. HJ has a couple of really solid players coming up from what i saw tonight.  a couple of big bruisers, one who has really good body control for his size, and another who's just huge right now (probably 6-4, 240 as a freshman), but will develop as he gets used to his size, as well as HJ's usual assortment of great shooters and talented point guards.
 5.

i'm glad to see that pretty much everyone who watched the game was able to see that the officiating was bad both ways, and is not trying to blame them for HJ winning.
it comes back to the question why is it always a ref. problem at hj
this was the 5th game i've been to at HJ this season, and it was the only one i had a problem with.  usually, people gripe because HJ gets "home cooking", which is actually code for their team not being able to handle HJ's physical press.  tonight was an entirely different issue, as it was quite possibly the most poorly officiated game i've ever seen outside of a little dribblers primary game, and it was equally bad both ways.
 6. i thought it was fair officiating in the sense that the tons of blown calls went both directions.  they definitely need to take a class on calling charges and blocks, because i don't know if they got a single one of those right all night.  body checks went uncalled, but minimal contact was routinely whistled.  there were several times when a player would travel, and it wouldn't get called, and then he would get to the rim and a weak foul would be called.  two blown calls on one drive...  at the end of the game, the refs missed a clear travel by sutherland on one possession, and he ended up drawing a foul.  the next trip down he was pushed out of bounds, and it wasn't called.  they offset, but it's still poor officiating.  Jacoby also got bailed out by a foul call late in the game when he was trapped in the corner, but the next trip down, Silsbee stepped over the endline when trying to inbound, which should've been a turnover, and it wasn't called.  just tons and tons of bad calls both ways.

 8. what a great win for the hawks!!!  i was at the game, and i can say the officiating was awful, both ways.  for instance, jacoby drove strong the first three hawks possessions, and was clearly fouled each time... 0 calls.  within the next three or four minutes, the hawks got away with three equally bad fouls.  there were at least four out of bounds calls that were clearly missed, two going each way.  ricossa fouled out tonight, but probably only committed three fouls, maybe only two.  one of those was a "block" in which he held his position for about an hour and a half, a silsbee play penetrated and bumped him on his way by.  as for charges and blocks, i think it's possible that 8 of 10 of those calls was wrong, going both ways.  players with perfect defensive position were called for blocks, and players with their bodies turned and sliding under driving players drew charges.  it seemed like they also were working pretty hard to make sure that the foul count was fairly even.  both halves HJ made it to the bonus quickly, but then were called for a bunch of ticky tack fouls to even things out.  all in all, a very, very poor showing by the officials, but i don't feel it decided the game.  now that that's out of the way, onto the actual play: I am a Hawk fan, but i think it's fair to say that they deserved this one tonight.  here's why. Gus came up huge tonight!  i never would've dreamed that HJ's short point guard would've been singularly responsible for putting 3 or 4 Silsbee players into foul trouble, but he attacked the rim all night, and did a great job of drawing contact. Turner was almost completely shut down when it came to attacking the basket, so what did he do?  Drained five threes, including a huge shot at the halftime buzzer.  not bad for someone who "can't shoot". HJ shot free throws poorly in the first half, but did a great job of converting from the line in the 2nd half.  this was what won them the game. Ricossa was shut down the last time HJ and Silsbee met, and was shut down again for the first 3 quarters tonight, although he was saddled with 4 fouls early in the 3rd, most of which were questionable.  in the 4th quarter he stepped up huge, scoring 5 quick points and having 3 key blocks during HJ's run to start the quarter. HJ did a fantastic job on the boards, especially on defense.  Silsbee's advantage in height was neutralized by HJ's ability to block out.  In the first meeting, Silsbee scored probably half of their points on offensive putbacks.  Tonight, they had very few opportunities to score off of offensive rebounds. All of that being said, i still think Silsbee has a great shot to win state.  They didn't play their best tonight, and HJ played very well, and it still went down to the wire.  It's going to take a very well coached team with a couple of players who come up huge to beat them.  Good luck to both of these teams in the playoffs, and hopefully we can meet again in a few weeks!
if they're doing that and still scoring goals, then everyone else is screwed, because that's tough to beat :)
 11. i wish they'd play so that we could see how bad it would be... i'd bet 50 points.

 13. i should be there tonight.  i expect the tigers to pull it out, but i wouldn't be surprised if the hawks find a way to pull it off.
Yea, some of those tu fans can be so childish.
don't you hate that?

 19. they beat Nebraska 91-51! the freshmen trio had a great game... Bradley-25 points, 6-7 from deep. Hamilton- 16 points J Brown- 12 points, 6 assists, 2 steals. J Brown got the start, and played a team-high 30 minutes! The horns were 11-23 from deep, and a shocking 22-30 from the line...
 20.
Liv 3 - HJ 0
glad HJ played a better second half.  the shame of it was is that i thought they moved the ball through the midfield better than i'd seen in the other two games i've seen.  unfortunately it opened the field up more for livingston's offense, and HJ wasn't able to pack it in as deep as they usually do.  two of their goals were from really nice strikes outside the 18.
 21. hey AAW, i think you read my scores wrong... you had me at 11-9, but i have me at 20-0.  what's up with that?
 22. why was she suspended?
